    I've got a build I'm working on featuring this APU with an ASRock B650i in an A01 HTPC case (and the goofy power supply I have to use). I'm a trucker, and this may well just be exactly what I've been looking to have on the truck. I'll use a set of 16GB DDR5 ram and an M.2 drive I already have. Can't wait to get it all together. May well just teach myself LInux on it...

    Great review, as always. Super excited about the new AMD 8000G series, in terms of a budget gamer solution.

    4800 RAM for IGPU? 6000+ is a sweetspot. I know, budget was important, but it will tank game performance.

      Actually testing that on the 8700G right now - definitely an impact, but not as big as I was expecting.

    Whats wild is that integrated graphics have come so far its insane... This would make an awesome HTPC chip as well..

      As long as you pair it with a good memory kit then it's perfect for that.

      Testing power supplies takes some serious equipment and knowledge to do properly, so maybe one day. However a general rule of thumb is that you'll be fine if you go for an established brand, and just get the wattage you'll actually need.

      These integrated graphics cards use video little power. On the package and from the company they say 65 watts. You could basically have any power supply and they will work just fine
      I only play oblivion, skyrim and emulators right now and still have plenty of time until elder scrolls 6 comes out so I'm buying a 8600g and making sure my motherboard supports ddr5 ram... way down the road I'll buy a 4090 video card or something and they can easily run on 500w power supplies
      I'll prob just buy a 750w power supply to be safe down the road for Elder scrolls 6 but honestly a 500w power supply is more than fine... might as well just spend the extra $20 for a 750w right now and be fine 5 years down the road and you can run all the fans, cooling and RGB you want

      I'm not sure what rig you have or what kind of tower/ motherboard but Google " build my pc"
      That website will tell you everything and dang sure if the power supply will work w motherboard and processor
      I just had to come back and text you 1 more time bc I highly encourage you get ddr5 5600 ram.... trust me between the 8600g, 500w power supply and ddr5 5600 ram you will be playing your games on the highest settings possible.. just make sure your motherboard supports "it prob will" and do that google search and you will be fine bud
      Feel free to ask me anything.
      I'm building and buying my rig tonight

    At best the 8600G is for an upscaled 720p monitor. If CP2077 can't even hit 60fps in 1080p with lowest settings, it's just not meant for 1080p.

    Nice, but at least here in Brazil we can easily buy a Ryzen 5500 and Radeon 6600 at the same price.

    • @TheTechTank
      @TheTechTank  7 місяців тому

      That's the case almost anywhere. If you want the best gaming performance you can get right now on a budget, and don't really care much about futureproofing then the 8000G series doesn't make a lot of sense.

      @TheTechTank  6 місяців тому +1

      Great motherboard, would love to see a faster RAM kit but that one's fine if your budget's tight, decent SSD, power supply is overkill. Could save a bit of cash by going for a 500W PSU - unlikely that even when you add a GPU that you'll need more than 500W.

    • @emreguldu

      @@TheTechTank thanks for advice, im planning on adding 3080 or rx 6800 xt in future, still 650w would be an overkill ?

    • @TheTechTank
      @TheTechTank  6 місяців тому +2

      As long as the PSU has the power connectors for it, 500W should actually be enough for either of those cards since the 8600G is so efficient, and the rest of the components don't take much either. 650W would be the safe bet for cards on that level or higher though.

      Hey man, you can put together a decent build with this chip within that budget. Is that a DDR4 RAM kit you listed? If so then that's not going to work.
