One of the hundreds of great songs from the 60s.
4 Part Counterpoint Harmony is what you're enjoying here and the way it's performed here is divine!
They were so famous in the 60's. It was one of the major anthems of the hippie generation and the baby boomers grew up to it. Mama Cass was one of the famous singers who died young and Michelle Philips is still alive now.
Loved them. I was a hippie. Lived in communes❤️🦋✌️🕊🌻
Now abides Peace, Hope, Love. But the greatest of these is Love.
ANY of their songs are GREAT! Try "Monday Monday," "Twelve-Thirty," "Dedicated to the One I Love," "Creeque Alley" (is a song about how they got together), "GO Where You Want to Go," "Dream a Little Dream of Me," "I Saw Her Again," Straight Shooter, " "Got a Feelin''" How about diving into some BEATLES music, if you love harmony, as well as anything from the '60s and '70s, The MOODY BLUES, SIMON and GARFUNKEL, ABBA, THE BEE GEES, THE EAGLES, THE BYRDS, THE HOLLIES, FLEETWOOD MAC, so much GREAT music from those decades.
This was released in 1965. I was seven and saw them perform this on The Ed Sullivan Show. I had the single and played the hell out of it. I still have it but it wouldn't be playable today. I beat the hell out of it. This was a great sixties band and sadly, the only surviving member I'd the blonde on the end, Michelle Phillips. We don't have music like this today. Check out "Monday Monday' another great one.
Peace ❤
Written by the late John Phillips. He was the Papa. Michelle Phillips is the only surviving member. She is 1 of the Mamas. The members were in 2 bands in my hometown San Francisco before forming. After the break up of the marriage and the band, Michelle became an actress.
Family tree .
In short, The Mamas and The Papas are related to The Beach Boys, Wilson Phillips, the jailed Danny Masterson, Billy Baldwin and his son-in-law Justin Bieber. The Mamas and Papas also lead to Van Halen.
Suggested videos : 1 Wilson Phillips sing You're in Love live in Manila. 2 The Beach Boys perform Don't Worry Baby. 3 Van Halen performs I'll Wait live in Montreal, in 1984.
The legendary Mama Cass. They have many amazing songs. 👍
Released in 1965
So impressed that you backed up to "let the music breathe". Most reactors break in on an instrumental then just start where they left off. You showed respect for the music. You earned my subscription right there.

Welcome to the '60's. I remember it well. Now I'm sad, missing those days
Great that you noticed the great flute solo by jazzman Bud Shank. I think that solo was the icing on the cake in this song.
Their harmonies could not be better despite the fact no family reaction.
Their entire catalog does NOT disappoint!!
I was 8 when this came out and still love this song.
You were only 8 years old? Wow! That must’ve been nice!
It's so cool young people are getting turned on by our music. I love it ❤️
There are so many more. So fantastic
Backing band provided by “The Wrecking Crew”. Checkout their documentary. Many groups back then (60’s and early 70’s) used them. Cheers
As you said, it’s just so good! So good!! In other words, it’s COLD!!! 👍
You young people missed sooooo9 much...like every generation. we Boomer messed up pour share of things, but our music, our music was THE BEST, the golden era of popular music...
Songs of that era were painfully short. Usually around 2-3 minutes. Supposedly for radio play. They are a huge rabbit hole.
Back then the music industry wanted the songs to be a certain length to put on the radio. And it wasn’t much.
Check our their greatest hits. There were several songs that really showcased Mama Cass's talent.
Simon and Garfunkel el candor pass
🤩
GOOD?? They were GREAT!!
I think this was done in the late 60s.
You got a like and subscribe for this video. However, check out Mama Cass Elliot’s solo work.
Her song “Make Your Own Kind Of Music” is my personal anthem.
Check it out.
Early 80s? 😞
Fyi - Cass Elliott the heavy set woman could sing her ass off. Michelle the slinky blonde was pretty much eye candy
And I ain’t complaining bout dat 😊🎉
Actually experts Acclaim Michelle for her voice but she also became an excellent actress and her daughter became a popular singer 4 Wilson Phillips her daughter's name is Chynna Phillips
@@edithdriver2094Michelle also had a great voice. Several singles by her after the M & P available on you tube. She is no slouch as a singer.
@@36karpatoruskitruth! Michelle is frequently referred to as simply eye candy, but she was so much more than that.
