Hey y'all! In this video, I read the essays that helped me get accepted to the University of Pennsylvania: my Common Application essay and Penn supplemental essay. I hope you enjoy hearing my Penn essays, but remember that your essays should be about YOU. What got me accepted to schools looks very different from what others did, so just remember that. Your Penn supplemental was super helpful, just listening to it, it sounded super detailed and specific. It was nice to hear an actual example of a well put together "why this" college than just hearing people say not to be generic. Thank you so much for the video!

If you don’t mind me asking what did you get on the SAT or ACT?
I must have seen this video at least 3 to 4 times and then made my son watch it too. He is already at UPenn SEAS/Engineering doing CS and He wanted him to apply to Wharton as well for BS Economics w/ finance concentration. He did get into Wharton last week and I would definitely want to give you some credit as well! 😄😄😄

How long were you're upenn supplemental essays and what were you're strategies? Nice vids!
Thanks! Mine was almost 650 words (the requirement was 400-640), and my main strategy was doing a lot of research on the Wharton website. I found specific programs and clubs that related to my academic interests since a college should be able to read your essay and clearly see your interest and that you did not just copy and paste it from another college. Mine showed that I spent a significant amount of time researching about the school.

How long did it take to write this essays?
The common app one I wrote and revised several times over the course of a few weeks (I started in August), and I wrote the UPenn one over the course of a day during winter break.
So Who's the Dummy Now? Guess I should go switch my major😄

Hi, I don’t know if this is still relevant seeing as this is several months later, but oh well!
Most schools (including upenn) accept a general application (Common Application and Questbride are the two most common). CommonApp has multiple prompts to choose from to write a personal statement, up to 650 words. This essay is then sent to every school you apply to from the CommonApp. But each school typically has their unique “supplemental writing topics,” where you then write in response to those specific questions. Those supplements tend to vary by school, but the personal statement/ CommonApp essay is the generic essay all of your schools (that accept the CommonApp) will get. That is what she did in the video for the first essay she read!
