@@bigbassmanphd yes if your lucky enough, hes soo buissy though, I never seem to be able to get an autograph from him seems to disappear like a myst, he had a rough one last night at kokomo for the high limit one lap in and flipped his car involving the fastest qualifyer last night, I did get to talk to katlin his wife though and his sons, but of the three times I saw him racing only got his autograph once, hes good hes an attuned racer for sure hope he wasn't sore after last night though.
hope he does well though has to win the 500 at least once to be an all time great, and one thing if you never heard indycars live even going by they sound way deeper then on tv almost like a tie fighter from starwars they run such a high rpm, heard it on the way to irp for carb night going past the ims last year on carb day its crazy the way they sound
oh I did get to get a picture with the ims president though as he walked by and my pic was taken by johnny parsons who was with him, I tried to ask him though if they were ever going to make the dirt track on turn three bigger I would love to see a silver crown race there at irp since we lost the state fair to auto racing where they used to have the hoosier hundred and it was at the state fair that the founders of the ims got the idea to build it after seeing an early race there, soo much history there all for naught now its just for harness horse training and parkning for events as limestone, would be something though if they did auto racing on there again as gravel though just have to watch for flying stones and put a finner catch fence back up that would keep stone throws to a minimum, and differant tires, or put a half mile back up in the middle again just a matter of will to do, was oldest auto track in indiana, one of only three dirt miles left that had car races, and would be at least nice if they had flattrack moto racing on it to keep auto sports alive they do race pea gravel already at lima ohio so there is that.

My late father who loves racing took me to the time trials years ago. I stood 4 feet from Gordon Smiley as he got in his car for a run at the field. He looked right at me and smiled as he climbed into the cockpit. A few minutes later the announcer stated that he had passed away in turn 2. I was shocked and not myself for days. But Indy is still the most amazing race and place ever. The hair on my arms stands on end whenever I hear and feel the rush of the cars going by! A true bucket list experience and an awesome American experience!

My Father and I have been to many Indycar races in person and many different type races and I plan to go one day.I seen Indycar races in the west and southwest. I plan to go to the Midwest and Southeast one day soon, I hope.My father passed away and my Mother, too.I honor them by following Indycar and it is Great racing and on a oval track WOW !

Dixon cruises in, does a couple of laps, posts 229mph, drives back into the pits, and packs up for the day.
I like how the replay on Peacock is like 36 minutes and the youtube highlight is 26 minutes.

Cool to give an interview and then heard the fan's, started to autographs over there, lots of Nascars die-cast and new indycars signed. Great driver, he'll finish in top 10 if no one bumps him, already heard older guy's putting him down for passing them . When you have a huge head of steam, just hammer down and go around them, there just ticked that he has 2nd fastest lap as a rookie. Thats after barrel rolling last night's race from getting hit from behind. No clue how the other dirt drver hit him.

Just have to wait and see! He has said that the 600 is his priority, so if Indy is rain delayed, he's headed to Charlotte for the 600.

The track never changes whats to learn

Road courses rarely change. When you're averaging 229 MPH and 4.5G in a corner, every little bump or ripple makes the car react differently. That's not including temperature swings.
The track changes all the time. Track temp, weather, time of day, groove, etc. It's also narrower than you think. Seeing it in person vs. TV changes the perspective. One lapse in concentration and judgment and you have big problems, even if your own the track by yourself. Open wheel racing is much different than stock car. Ask Jimmie Johnson. I worked at IMS for a bit.
Also the tire compounds are updated or changed every year, sometimes that can throw teams off on their setups. Rule changes on downforce or any aero pieces can also be a factor.
One year on a track like Indy makes a huge difference. Especially if the asphalt is aging.
These highlights are always so long. Can we get a 5-10 minute version please?
