I love getting the opportunity of teaching my clients how to do plumbing, electrical, welding, or anything else I might be doing for them. If they want to learn of course.
I went to the National SkillsUSA/VICA competition for plumbing in 2001 representing the state of Missouri. It was an awesome experience and I learned a lot. It was in Kansas City, MO that year. There was a ton of venders there also that I got to meet and we even toured the Sioux Chief Industries factory. That was awesome to see and learn how their products where made and how they worked. Also met the CEO of Harley Davidson. The trip is one of the highlights of my life and I’ll never forget it.
SkillsUSA is an amazing and inspiring organization. I was so lucky to have been involved last year - Thank you for sharing and doing what you do Roger! 🎥👊
I have been judging at the state level for the last 20 years ( back when the organization was known as VICA ) and it has been one of the most important things that I’ve done for the trade. A great way to give back. For the plumbers out there, check with your local secondary technical school about judging. It’s also a good way to get a good read on the attitudes of the younger generation and how they relate to work. Businesses must adapt to the changing attitudes in order to keep a happy work force/ staff. Great work Roger.
Skills USA is a great program. I competed this past spring in the PA state competition. I competed for Industrial motor control. I had a great time. More kids need to be exposed to the trades.
I really enjoyed competing in teamworks. My team was in the background of the last shot. Great experience and I learned a lot. I'm looking forward to competing in plumbing this year.
Hi Roger, your new follower here and LOVE your channel! I am 43, single mother. I want to switch job later to be a plumber. No previous plumber experience. Should I quit job and in college to learn plumbing, or try find a plumber and skip school? (difficult to find a job with no experience). GREAT THANKS!!
Plumbers Bootcamp. 2 week intensive. 8 hours a day. They Say a New Plumber will cost a company 10k the first year. Why not spend some of that and have them trained.
