Change your oil in 10 minutes. Hope this helps. Manual link in description. 252-314-8284 | www.CleanProExteriors.com
I own a 4gpm 4000psi pressure washer with a cat pump and a honda gx390 motor. This engine requires HD(heavy duty)-30.
Start by finding the plug to drain the oil out. Next place a bucket large enough to catch all the oil directly under the drain plug. Unscrew the plug and allow all the oil to completely drain out. This may take a couple minutes.
Once trained you can replace the plug. At this point I recommend cleaning out your air filter and replacing your oil filter if your pressure washer has one.
The last thing you need to do is fill the oil to the correct amount, which should be in your owners manual. But typically, you just know how much it's suppose to be. Before replacing everything, do you last check on your seals and your done.
Pretty simple. How this helps!

I really want to say a BIGG THANK YOU because without this video I wouldn't have been able to get my pressure washer started. I changed the oil, spread it with carb cleaner and got it to work and running strong...
Thanks for this info, I have this same engine on my Brister's Trail Wagon UTV. Couldn't find the drain plug till I watched your video! Good job, thanks and keep up the good work!
When you check the oil level you do NOT thread the dipstick in. You just insert it until it makes contact and then remove and read.
Jason B what side do.add oil on black cap or brown dip stick aude
correct the manual for the GX390 illustration shows the cap/dipstick first thread sitting flush on the engine case. (unthreaded)
yep JB your'e right on money........ only antiques do you screw it in
Yea with all Honda’s ( we have dirt bikes and mowers) they all say check oil do not screw in oil dip stick. Honda thing 😂
Thank you for posting, your video was helpful & well done. Good save on the drain plug (LOL.) I have the same motor with a CAT pumped pressure washer. I noticed a small quantity of oil had leaked onto the deck. Upon looking for where it may be coming from I came across a black oil filler cap the opposite side of the motor from the gray dipstick which is where I filled the motor with its 10W-30. Upon unscrewing the black cap (which I believe was not screwed on tight enough and may have been the source of the leak) dirty motor oil started flowing out (I was off level) so I quickly reinserted it and screwed it back on tighter than before. Upon looking at the manual I see the two caps in the diagram & both have oil drain plugs beneath them and though the diagram does mention what the gray cap is for, not a peep about the black one. You don't mention it in your video, either, although it's in plain view in the opening shot. What is the black oil screw cap for?
That's what I'm trying to figure out now. I saw online someone said that it's just for if you mount the engine on something and one side is blocked. But I also think it might be something about a reduction case? So confused, did you ever figure that out?
Thanks for your time and help, what about the oil and fuel filters?
thanks a lot brother! we need more people like you in this world!
Thanks from Sydney Australia 👍🏾👍🏾
You missed the most important part...where do you add the oil? The gray side or the black??
Did anyone ever answer this. Do both go to the cleaners chamber?
Dip stick side. Fill till it’s about to come out of the motor. 1 quart usually
I fill on the black side
Thanks Josh👍🏻 from 🇵🇦
they make a oil drain hose you can buy to mount on the drain hole to help with the draining. it stays on the engine only thing you have to do is unlossing the cap on hose then put it back on and fill engine with oil. if anyone needs a picture of what it looks like message me and ill send you a picture to help out. nice video by the way
Doing this today. Very useful video. Thank you!!
You’re welcome! Thank you!!

What is the black cap hole used for?
You have two plugs on either side of this motor? One gray in color that holds the dipstick and I see a black one on the other side...what's up with that? These two plugs are in addition to the metal drain plug. Can you elaborate on the gray and black plug? Thanks!
I believe the other plug is so that when you pour the oil in, you can unscrew it and if you filled it up too much, the excess will run over. Hope that made sense. Basically it's to keep you from over filling the oil.
Clean Pro Exteriors I appreciate your reply. So you are filling it with oil at the gray dipstick plug NOT the black plug? The black plug is just a overfill plug? Sorry, just want to get that clarified. Thanks again and I appreciate the video.
Sorry I’m late guys, but these are universal engines. It is done so that you always have access to the oil dipstick and drain, if it isn’t the side with the dipstick just flip them around. Because these engines go in so many applications they need to make sure you can always get to the oil.
many applications for the engine by different companies so need two ways to fill with oil in case one is blocked by mounting position. you can swap filler caps (dip stick) the little pipe plug is how you drain the oil
I was trying to figure out where the oil filter was. But guess it don't have one. But now I know.
Always remember folks, if you’re low on oil. 90% of the time your dipstick is too short. Buy a longer dipstick to check the oil level before adding oil.
Great advice! Followed your guidance and now my engine's running much hotter and louder than before. Even smells of burning, which I love 😊 Thank you so much 👍🏽👍🏽
Oops, just read some of the comments below, got my answer. Seek & ye shall find (and not have to ask.) Thank you...
Very helpful thank you very much Mr. JOSH
Thanks so much for this man! Super helpful!!

Thanks
did not see the oil go in,
I dont see where to add the oil!
Same hole as the dip stick.
Thankyou great help
My pressure washer is dropping oil from the medium ciel
hey ,man did you ever change the washer out? if so where do you get those washers i cant find them anywhere!
No oil filter?
my gx390 has a drain plug on both sides.
I drained it on tha opposite side shown in your video. is this an issue?
No. It’s easier with the frame hole side less mess. But the oil comes out either side
Thanks for yours help
I just bought a used pressure washer like yours. And I went to check the oil and it just squared out. That can't be normal right?
Over filled
Do you add oil through the black cap, just picked up a pressure washer with this engine dipstick on one side and black fill plug on the other side
@@paisleypcdoc thank you!!
@@jordonb14 what was his answer?
Thank you🤟
Mine doesn't have that hole on the bottom
Where is the oil filter on this engine?
Doesn't have one
Good job' thank you
I have that unit and what to know what you use your for in your business
What oil do u use for the pump?
I’m not sure what you mean by oil. If you want to learn what I use
Check out my online training members.cleanproexteriors.com/get-rct
Treshon Randolph you use a non detergent “pump oil”. If you use regular oil, you will blow out your pump. “Pump oil” can be purchased at your big box stores on the isle where your pressure washers are
I'm trying to figure out what transmission fluid to use for a change ?
How often is it recommended to change the oil?
Jon Watcher It depends on the motor. You can type in the type motor you have with the question on google search and it should pull up the info/manual for your motor. That's how I found out lol
Every 6 months or 100 hours according to Honda manual
Every 3,000 miles lol
what fking size is the socket
12mm
when I looked it up online it says 6.4 qts of oil..
No it doesn't say that, or shouldn't say that lol. You don't even put that much into a car.
you should fill the oil up to the top of the treads, should be about 1.3 qts from memory for a GX 390
That is the gas tank volume ..
Can I use 10w-30 Synthetic oil?
Bad Weatherfreak yes
cheap oil super tech, should use better oil. name brand
You must not know much about oil because super tech is made by a name brand and has good specs including very respectable TBN #'s.
It’s generic and cheap for a reason. Super Tech, Great Value, and most of the other Walmart brands are made by some other company, it does NOT mean they are the same quality.
Dont care about the godam air filter, stay on topic or make a separate video!
😂Not one guy has had the state of mind to say..
What the second fill plug is for...WTF
