Blest Pair of Sirens - Prince William and Kate Middleton Royal Wedding
Without question one of the best pieces of music ever written.
How utterly gorgeous. What a treat this must have been to hear live at the Royal Wedding.
I'm so glad to be singing this in my / our choir's next concert. A gallant and arousing piece by Parry
the boy's top G at the end just soars! Such a fab piece.
Perfect performance of a perfect piece of music.
This is nothing short of SUPERB! Such a fantastic piece, performed to perfection on a glorious occasion! Love it!
For anybody who wants to find out more about this work there was a BBC documentary about Parry which is now up on UA-cam. Search for 'The Prince and the Composer' numbers 4 and 5
Wonderful to see/hear this without any commentary. Thank you!
I just sang this with the Chester cathedral choir at a jubilee concert. Best concert I have ever done. (We also sang Zadok the priest, My heart is inditing and I was glad :)
this is a masterpiece! touches my heart
I'm going to sing this at The Royal Albert Hall on April 21st 2012 at Prom Praise.
Wonderful climax & so very English.
Glad this hasn't got the TV commentary on it - just the stunningly beautiful music.
A gorgeous piece by parry
magnificient song!!!
It's an Anthem :)
My dd has sung this... Fab to hear live.
It doesn't sound right without a massive applause at the end!
Magnificent!
I just sang all those with Truro cathedral choir in a jubilee concert too, we also did the king shall rejoice
I hope we will soon again renew that song.
Wonderful to practice with this inspiring version before we fly with the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus, to sing in Bremen, and Lubeck next week. Andrew and Penny
This is stunning... just wish the words were posted in the caption of this
Blest pair of Sirens, pledges of Heaven's joy
Sphere-born harmonious sisters, Voice and Verse
Wed your divine sounds, and mixt power employ
Dead things with inbreathed sense able to pierce
And to our high-raised phantasy present
That undisturbed song of pure consent
Aye sung before the sapphire-coloured throne
To him that sits thereon
With saintly shout and solemn jubilee
Where the bright Seraphim, in burning row
Their loud, uplifted angel-trumpets blow
And the Cherubic host in thousand quires
Touch their immortal harps of golden wires
With those just spirits, that wear victorious palms
Hymns devout and holy psalms
Singing everlastingly
That we on Earth with undiscording voice
May rightly answer that melodious noise
As once we did, till disproportioned sin
Jarr'd against Nature's chime, and with harsh din
Broke the fair music that all creatures made
To their great Lord, whose love their motion swayed
In perfect diapason, whilst they stood
In first obedience, and their state of good
O may we soon again renew that song
And keep in tune with Heaven, till God ere long
To his celestial conssort us unite
To live with him and sing in endless morn of light
A beautiful piece of music, most certainly. But I can't be the only one who thought the lyrics would be completely different.
The had to laugh all the way through this lmao the nun wearing reebok trainers.. Haha
When I first heard them I hadn't been sure what the lyrics were and as a result when trying to figure out what the lyrics were came up with some that were completely different. I forget most of them, but I thought "and to our high-raised phantasy present" was "and to our highly father which we serve".

Does anyone know why some of the boy trebles are in Beefeater style costumes? Just interested
These are choristers of the Chapels Royal
I need a Beefeater's costume for Halloween.
Different? In what sense?
Great, etc.
Don't your parents have a better television and camera that your good self?

@7:33 that poor kid's got more class than the two bellends in front of him (Mike Tindall and Zara)
soz i've just see em lol
I see the date of your singing is coming up. Break a larynx, sir or madam. Parry is part of a great tradition. The poem maybe deserves silent meditation, though. Heavy stuff.
