@@mrswiggles4790 Blueberries are one of the only bushes that does far better in a container or raised bed unless your native soil is already acidic. My soil pH is natural so it would be a constant battle trying to get it lower and keep it lower so raised beds are a great way to grow them.

The animals in my mothers garden have manners. She has a fig tree and the birds are kind enough to only eat what they need and don’t mess with the rest of the figs. They do the same with the mulberries.
They need to come to Georgia and teach these birds how to ration food before they are super greedy! 😂
That's lucky, my aunt gave up on her fig tree entirely since the birds always gets to it first. Now the tree is basically just bird food tree. They never had any figs from it.

Unfortunately squirrels and occasional possums would rip thru these. I think id need chicken wire.
I have a cat for squirrels 🐿️ and birds and he is an excellent hunter! The birds were just swooping in and destroying the bushes in the process. This solved my problem.
I have lots of squirrels, possums, raccoons, rabbits, deer and 4 dogs and a cat. The cat ignores the squirrels, the youngest dog goes nuts over the squirrels, my middle golden doodle-she bites the heads off of snakes(she looks like a teddy bear), my larger 87lb golden doodle is afraid of his own shadow and the oldest one only gets off the couch to eat or go potty.
I plant my blueberries under my trees. Makes it hard for the birds to spot them. They leave my berries alone.

Plant for wildlife and then more for yourself. Love this, thank you
I have something else that I’m working on that I’m trying to record. You all are going to love this!
We do that with herbs, plant 2x and let the caterpillars eat half. But with berries our problem is squirrels, rabbits and deer. They eat the baby bushes before they have a chance
You can't plant enough. We have almost 1,000 bushes. Should have gotten 3 gallons per bush. That's 3,000 gallons. One year the birds got all but about 20 gallons.
@@mamabear9623 Thank you. How ever well intended.
You cannot plant enough for wildlife...they will take it all. Squirrels, raccoons, birds, rats, bugs, they ALL want the food, and esp in a backyard garden setting you need and deserve the fruits of your labor in limited space. In most neighborhoods these animals are overpopulated because people are constantly feeding them too.

You are always on time with these tips. Just ordered mine. TFS
From where?
What are they called? When I look up fruit tree netting/mesh, I only get those organza bags, or rolls of mesh netting, which I have. But they are a pain to measure, set up, and keep them on as they just get blown off even when staked down. The mesh gets all twisted and tangled that it gets all mangled and unmanageable/unusable, so I have to trash them and make more. Ugh. I'm so frustrated. The birds are taking and ruining all my fruit and mice too. I just want something pre-made and made specifically for what I need. These look like they would do the job well.

I was using nets until I found out that in order to get actual fruit, bees have to pollinate the flowers.
