@@ProfessorHeatherAustin Great news! I passed the first phone interview and have a second interview scheduled this Monday with two hiring managers at the office. I am so excited!! I truly cannot thank you enough for encouragement and advice you provided via your amazing videos. I was prepared with answers, questions, my resume, the job description, and, I smiled of course! If you have any videos for the next step that would be wonderful. The HR gal who interviewed me said this next one will focus on things such as why I left my other jobs along with some behavioral type questions. Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks! Lisa :)

Kudos for the Video! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Schallingora Information Investigation Scheme (just google it)? It is a great exclusive product for learning what you need to say to get hired in a job interview without the headache. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my m8 at very last got cool success with it.

Hi Heather, I just recently had a phone interview. When the owner of X company call me, I was unavailable, but he left me a voice mail explaining that my resume was a perfect match for the position that he was seeking. I followed some of the steps you mentioned in your video. They do help in moving up to the next step. I prepared myself by clearing my throat, I plugged my earphones, this allows me to perfectly hear what's been said, found a nice undisturbed spot, jotted down key points of my strengths and compared them to job advertising, or vice-versa, and made that phone call. That phone interview escalated to a same day face to face Chinese dinner to go in depth over the job. He offer me the job and we both agree in a starting date. I'm starting a new job on Monday.

I agree with the "smile" tip. I had a job producing commercials for radio, and you can really hear the difference when someone smiles. Not only can you "hear" the smile, your speech/audio is clearer on their end, which will remain in their memory longer.

Everything she said is valid! Had my phone interview and before i watched this video and she said to make sure to research the company. Did that (but didn’t write anything down or had the information on hand) luckily I have good memorization and when the interview came about they asked me if I knew about the company and knew more than enough. It helped ace the interview. Took pointers from this video and now they want to schedule a tour of the company!

One of my other HUGE tips is to ask the recruiter to explain the role BEFORE you talk about yourself. There is always more context that the job description doesn't tell you. Like, what are the immediate projects you'll be doing? What problem is this person supposed to solve? Which skill are actually required vs can be learned on the job

I had my first phone interview ever yesterday. It went okay but felt very rushed because the owner was speaking very very fast! Audio wasn't the greatest either, but I think I heard her say that she needed to go do something. She asked me, "tell me about yourself" and as I was, she kept saying, "uh huh. yeah." which messed me up and stumble on my words... I felt rushed. But she wants me to come in tomorrow (Wednesday) to do an in person interview and also show me around the building and meet everyone.

I'm sure you don't suck at interviews. What does your career story look like?

Professor Heather Austin I am operations coordinator with over 3 years of supply chain management experience. Also, I am an MBA candidate.
I practice and practice, but I freeze every time I get asked simple questions.
I am able to get interviews with my resume, but no call backs.

No worries! That just means you need more practice. Do mock interviews with your friends and family members. Also, go on interviews for jobs you wouldn't necessarily take. Doing this will give you a lot of practice. You've got this my friend!

Hi Dana! Thanks for watching. You're right the background music is a little loud. I've toned it down in my newer videos. I wish you the very best on your phone interview.

Hobert, hi there! I’m sorry I didn’t get into the content fast enough for you. I’ll try to do better next time. Also, smiling during a phone interview does help. Lol! Good luck on your phone interview.
