- The "Chinese Plum". Using a Chinese spirit, Baijiu, I created a cocktail that celebrates a great fruit from China, the Plum. I love plums, and this cocktail is a perfect year round sipper. With hints of plums, orange, lemon and a slightly floral finish, this is a must try!!!
Happy Chinese New Year!!!
Ingredients include:
22.5 mil/.75 oz Baijiu
22.5 mil/.75 oz Dry Curacao
30 mil/1 oz Creme de Violette
22.5 mil/.75 oz Lemon juice
2-3 Dashes - Plum bitters
Shake all with ice for 10-12 seconds
Serve "up" in a chilled cocktail glass.
TIM!!!! I like the looks of this for sure!!!

SALTY!!! Thanks a bunch!!! This turned out pretty good. Baijiu is a little assertive to say the least!!! CHEERS to you!!!

Tim!!! This seems awesome... I have Ume liqueur, I might make this and swap out the creme de Violette for that! Up those plums!
ICEMAN!! That sound like a great idea!!! I might have to try that myself as well!!!! CHEERS brother!!!
Wow this sounds interesting! The pan-Asian market near me just started selling Baijiu, so I guess I’ll have to pick it up and get to trying this drink! Great job Tim! Cheers!
MICHAEL!!! If you've never had Baijiu, it's a very interesting spirit. This cocktail def tamed its assertive notes. CHEERS to you my friend!!!
Nice Plums Tim 😄
CHAPPY!!! Thanks a bunch!!! I'm def a plum fan!! CHEERS!!!
I love the plum liquor, this is my favorite thing when I go to a Chinese restaurant, we go to one that always serves a complimentary glass, of Koshu Plum Sake, but I know we're paying for it in the price of the food. This looks like a wonderful drink, I really need one of these, lol. 🍷🍹
PIP!!! Thanks a bunch!!! If you've ever had Baijiu, this can def be assertive!!! The plum really rounded things off!!! CHEERS!!!
Holy crap Tim!! This would be the ultimate Chinese New Year cocktail, we just went through another big one this year with the family, the Chinese elders really get into that Baijiu straight, it's very potent and can literally be found at every dinner table, cheers to you pal 😊👍
DAMO!!! Baijiu straight is brutal!!! I've tried to sip on it, and I just can't do it!!! This cocktail def simmers things down a bit!!! CHEERS!!!!
@@TheSpiritoftheCocktail oh it takes a LOT of shots to get used to it, I can drink it straight nowadays, but when I first had it, oh boy that stuff blew my tastebuds, you should see the Chinese uncles and granddads drinking this stuff like it’s breakfast milk 😂😟
I want to try Baiju sometime
ANDREW!!! This is an interesting spirit. I reminds me of a combo of Rum, Vodka and lightly aged bourbon. It has a very assertive flavor....
Anyone that can make baijiu taste good is a winner in my book!
Thanks!! Baijiu is frigging challenging to say the least!!! Citrus seems to calm things down a little!! CHEERS!!!
@@TheSpiritoftheCocktail I was introduced to it last year by a friend, we've just used it for shots, lots of fun to be had subjecting friends to it - perhaps that accounts for its popularity in Chinese social functions. Next time I get my hands on some I definitely want to figure out how to tame it!
@@chrisva4268 Are you using the "Full strength " version, or the regular???
@@chrisva4268I made another video called the "Shanghai Tower" that uses Baijiu as well. If you get a chance, check that out!!!
@@TheSpiritoftheCocktail I had gotten Red Star Er Guo Tuo, which is 56% abv
Mo plums mo problems
Yes sir!!
I love the idea, but please check the proper pronunciation of baijui (by-jeeyoo)… (I’m married to a Taiwanese woman, for context…)😊
Regardless of the pronunciation, the recipe is tight
The funny part is that I practiced this and STILL messed it up!!!
