This week, polypropylene prices firmed in South Asia, while remaining steady in Far East Asia and Southeast Asia, driven by stronger import offers from overseas suppliers.
Concerns about potential fallout from US trade tensions and tightening sanctions against Iran are contributing to global oil price volatility. A stronger US dollar also weighed on oil prices.
In China, supply pressure remained constant as output capacity expanded post-holiday, causing price fluctuations. Merchants were cautious and unwilling to offer discounts, while downstream industries have not yet resumed optimal operations.
In Southeast Asia, some suppliers faced inventory pressure, with maintenance turnarounds expected to tighten supply. However, buyers remained cautious, anticipating a slowdown in purchasing, though no immediate signs were seen.
In India, prices firmed with strong demand across all grades, expected to remain stable for the next two months. Indian producers are unlikely to offer discounts for February price announcements.
