A lady had upper eyelid blepharoplasty 10 days ago and noticed that her left eyelid was more swollen and looked different from her right eyelid after the surgery. The swelling has gone down, but the eyelids still don’t look the same, so she wants to know if this is ptosis.
New York oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeon Amiya Prasad, M.D. reviews her concerns in this video, and explains how differences in eyelid height may have been there prior to surgery, but is only noticed now due to scrutiny after surgery, but it is important to allow healing to fully resolve before determining if this is indeed ptosis:
1:26 - Dr. Prasad details his background training in cosmetic oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery, as well as his experience as an eyelid rejuvenation specialist
2:09 - How people tend to scrutinize themselves even more closely than before post-surgery
2:51 - Dr. Prasad shares how often he follows up with patients after surgery in order to monitor progress

6:28 - The importance of reviewing before and after photo
    6:54 - Dr. Prasad’s recommendation
