The original version was mainly focused on Jacoby’s anger. This version focuses on Ronnie’s sadness. The pure raw emotion in this song brings me to tears every-time.

Im 43 years old and this song was a staple for me in my later teen years. But this version now is exactly what my heart and mind needed.

@halosandheroes The good thing is your making progress. That's all you can do is keep making yourself better. Music does that for me. Even when my mind is going dark I know that the music will help bring me out. All we can do is work to get better mentally.
A deeper and more mature version for the same people who were struggling teens when the original was released.
He showed Jacoby the unedited version. Jacoby has made it known that he 100% loves this version and supports Ronnie.(They toured with Papa Roach) I love this. The vocals and emotions are first rate.
I'm 36 and this song was always a turn it up as loud as you can and let that guitar riff rip. This version had me in tears in my car. Unreal the power not only in his force but the instrumental fluctuations that drive the feeling home. Simply beautiful

Damals“ hat man zu dem Song Party gemacht, was getrunken mit Freunden, mitgesungen und sich da nicht so sehr Gedanken drüber Gedanken gemacht. Jetzt (nachdem man auch ziemlich viel mit gemacht hat und selbst zu kämpfen hat mit Innern Dämonen) spricht das Lied einfach nur direkt aus dem Herzen. Genau so wie sie es sagen, es ist einfach ein Meisterwerk. 🥺

She died on my porch in my apartment and they wouldn't let me in there until they got her out and I understand the pain but I just want you to know that I'm so sorry and I'm here for you if you need someone😢❤

I've been seeing some reactions to this FIR song, and THIS reaction is the one that touches my soul the most besides the song itself. I'm struggling with shit in my life right now where I feel lonely because I'm 28 and I don't have friends because that's what I get, I met a lot of shitty people that ended up being harmful to me and here I am trying to get over it. This is exactly how I felt watching this for the first time. It is like the song grew up with us and it never left us. There was such a shared connection to the original version which is why it is so iconic. Musical therapy is still the best medicine.

I grew up on the OG by Papa Roach as a teen and vibed out, but just felt the same way as you pointed out. The lyrics were there, but it never truly sank in the way that this version just showed. Ronnie killed it. Not picking a favorite by any means, but this was simply beautiful and something I didn't know I needed. Also it's impossible for someone in our generation to watch this and not shed a tear.
It reminds me of when Johnny Cash covered NIN's Hurt, different tone and singer can really change the perspective of a song and how it is delivered to the listener.

This song resonates with me so much. I wish I could tell everyone that things get better, I will be 50 in a couple months and still have my struggles. I have good employment, a healthy relationship, most would say things are good; but I thought “happiness” would feel different. Currently struggling, not with suicide, but this emptiness I feel. Tonight is the first time I heard this version of this song and just realized what makes it so powerful for me, it breaks you down, and then builds you up again... And that is something we all need every now and then, even if we don't know we do.
I watched a video where Ronnie shows this version to Jacoby (I think they toured together) and I think both would greatly appreciate your openness and honesty.

Ive been knock down soooo many times, i lost my mom, Rose Hayes, in 1987. I lost my oldest son, Joshua Rico, in 2018. I lost my only true younger sister, Rolanda Rico, in 2022. I battled alcoholism from 1976 to 2007, now im free from the liquid for 16 years plus. Life was never easy.

Exactly this. when i listen to the papa roach version i feel teen angst and anger, attention seeking and trying to find oneself. When i hear the FIR version i feel adult depression and desperation. A person sitting alone in the bathroom with nothing but their tears, thoughts and a gun.
Ya'll crying made me cry and it wasn't the first time I've heard it. Ive never been impacted by a song like this. The first three times I listened to it I was not too.emotional. Really loved the song and thr build up. Now I feel it every time I hear it. I get goosebumps. The dude is unreal.

The teenager in me is still screaming along with the lyrics like Papa Roach or Jacoby did back in the day, while my now 41-year-old self had no idea that he 'needed' exactly this version of this song and just has several layers of goosebumps and a tear or two in his eye. This version hurts so damn much and at the same time it has a 'freeing' effect!? No idea how to describe it. At least for me, Ronnie has turned a timeless classic into an audiovisual masterpiece.

I think the best impression I've come up with for the versions would be: the Papa Roach version was the end-of-Gen-X on generation growing into adulthood, the energy, the angst, the struggle. Ronnie's version is the feeling of *the same people* but after 20 years of being ground down by society and the world overall. I don't see it as a new generation version, so much as "that was how we felt, and now this is how we feel."
You two embodied that impression throughout the video. You words spoke to it. Both are completely valid to those of us who grew up with the original, because both were/are very real for us when they came out.

I am beyond addicted to this song and cant get enough of watching other people react to it. It completely destroys me every time too which makes the addiction pretty tough. Somehow though watching with people for their first time keeps it fresh. It is a masterpiece though and the changes within the song are so perfect and obviously Ronnie's emotion, passion and range are insane. Standing O from me too.

I feel that this song originally was a way to bring emotions out at my teenage youth I couldn’t on my own. This new version is visiting an old emotion but with the ability to delicately handle these same emotions with wisdom. I can’t find any other way to describe it.
