- Oct 12,1991. Miami beats Penn St 26-20. This broadcast was from ABC. The game was JIP in the 1st Quarter and was preempted in the third quarter because of the Senate Hearings on Clarence Thomas.
Huerta is probably the most underrated kicker in NCAA history
He was no doubt the cockiest.
And it seemed like he was with them for 10 years. If he isnt in the college football hall of fame, he should get a mention.
I was at this game. Kevin Williams returned a punt 91 yds for a TD in the 3rd quarter, and Horace Copeland burned the Penn St. defense for an 80 yd TD. Amazing atmosphere...I miss the Orange Bowl.
living out west being up at 9 am was a regular thing for me to see the canes
This was a really good Penn State team. One that I think PSU fans old enough to remember 1991 gloss over it due to the 1994 team's dominance around that time period. I grew up a ND fan (still am to this day) in PA and attended the '91 game against Penn State in Happy Valley. PSU's rushing attack absolutely shredded a shaky ND defense that November afternoon. ND's image as a "tough team" under Holtz really took a hit after the PSU loss. The Irish would give up 42 points to Hawaii a couple of weeks later. The "physical" moniker is something Notre Dame really didn't get back until the 1992/93 Cotton Bowl dominance against undefeated #4 Texas A&M. FSU-Miami Wide Right I was also that same day as the '91 ND-PSU game.
Those of us old enough to remember can still dream of a 1991 Miami vs Washington Title Game....
This was a great football game penn st was tough for us glad we won this game
This uniform is the best we’ve ever had at Miami.
As a die hard miami fan we beat a damn good penn st. Team fantastic win
I've been looking for this game for years. For some reason this game never popped up on youtube. Thanks for posting this. Wasn't able to watch this live, since me and my friends were going to see Metallica live at Day On The Green.
This Penn State team had an inexplicable road loss to a horrid USC team early in the season but they blew out good teams like Georgia Tech (defending national champ), BYU, West Virginia, Notre Dame and Tennessee, some by huge scores. You don't hear much about them but 1991 Penn State was a heck of a good team at 11-2.
It was a good team, as you said they lost to a bad USC team which is probably why
PSU finished #3. The USC loss was one of the worst losses in the Paterno era. The OLine was shaky early in the season as we see in this game.
Any chance you could get your hands on 1991 10/19 vs Long Beach State? Canes won 55-0, one of the greatest hits in Canes history in that game but no one remembers. Horace Copland lays out a LBS DB after an INT.
Me and my family were at this game and the next.years game at happy. Valley, my cousin is 39 lee rubin safety....
That statue of liberty toss play is absolutely beautiful. 18:19.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the 3rd quarter Kevin Williams returned a punt for a TD, which unfortunately was not shown on TV.
I believe the Clarence Thomas hearings were going on and they did a split screen, playing the sound only for the hearing. That’s when the K.Williams return happened.
@@blues570 Don't rember the split-screen. They preempted part of the game entirely.
Gotta love those 90's commercials
excellent!!! penn state was considerably slower than Miami but put up a good fight...
Al Golden didn’t have any catches because the walk from the locker room was too long.
This was a tough hard fought game with miami winning 26 to 20 great game
D'onofrio and Golden get beaten by the Canes....for once.
Penn State high tech faxing plays down to the sideline.
Sam Gash.....
Not a fan of either team but I was wondering if Sandusky had a kid in the locker room after this Penn State debacle
veritas1007 Original bro! This is the first joke I’ve read about Penn State, Sandusky, and raping little boys in showers. You should be a comedian 👍🏻.
Not a fan of the Falcons or the Pats, but I’m wondering how it’s possible for a team to blow a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl when in the long history of the Super Bowl game no team has ever blown a 2nd half lead greater than 10 points to lose. I’m wondering if anyone in the Falcons locker room was given the Heimlich maneuver.
