I got a really good deal on a series 7 because the lower bout had a crack. I glued and cleated it. I love this little thing. I have a Martin O-18, but I play the Recording King waaaay more often.

I have some nice acoustics. Takamine, Washburn, Ovation elite plus, and a couple of others. The one I play is my dirty 30 7 series.

My 9plus sits out in my living room. It’s my go-to too at the moment. I currently have it tuned down a half step.

Same with me, what strings do you have on yours?

I have the RPH P2 TS parlor, which is solid spruce top, slightly smaller than the single 0 and with a shorter scale length, yet similar tonal signature. Also have the Series 11 000, which is great! Love the vibe of Recording Kings. In this clip I prefer the series 9 - it sounds like it has a fuller frequency and more projection.

Great review man ! I Have the parlor Guitar fever again . Witch on best for strumming. Thanks man ! Jeff Clark from ROCKDALE Texas

Thanks! I can’t really split them on strumming, they both have full scale length so they can handle a heavier strum. The 7 has a bit less dynamic range, when you play it is a bit more on or off with the volume. But it sounds really good and the action/neck is really good. They are both loud. I have mainly played the 9plus since I got that. It would come down to your budget, the 7 is a fair bit cheaper.

Thank you for this Video! I have 3 D30 series 7s I absolutely love and I just got a used RPS 9P TS last week and it’s such an awesome guitar. The original tuners were upgraded to vintage Grover butterbeans. Anyway, I just won a bid on a RPS 9 TS and had been trying to figure out the differences between the two from only the pictures in the auction listing which was very difficult. I thought they were the same guitar but now I see they are very similar yet very different. Thank you again for explaining and sharing! Nice picking too, sir

Glad the video was informative. RK are doing well not overbuilding their guitars. They sound really lively🔥

Actually I believe the series 7 has a solid Sitka top laminate back and sides. I’ve got one and you can clearly see the wood grain and cross feathering through the burst. Great little guitars and nice video.

Thanks for your comment. I recently got a series 7 dreadnought and checking the specs online, it says it is laminated top. The 9 series is identical construction but with solid spruce top. The 7 series has the white edging on the soundhole which prevents checking.

@@turrafirmaguitarchannel it clearly states on the Recording King website that the tops on series 7 guitars is spruce both in the descriptions and specs.

However it does not say “solid” spruce on the series 7. But I can clearly see book matched top on mine and it sounds pretty good if not a bit thin tone-wise.

@@danleyrold45 hi mate, I think you will find they still book match the top spruce layer on the laminated top.

      It’s a laminated top.

They sound quite different and the 7 does it for me, laminate top and all. Why am I watching this? I've just bought a nice Alvarez! But these boxes have the Blues thing going on and that never stops being a good thing. Thanks, TFGC.

Hi Mark, thanks for your comment. Yep, in the slowly evolving condition that is GAS, the idea to get every different guitar size is a definite thing 😂 This does not exclude another strain of GAS, to buy multiple guitars of the same size. I suffer from both conditions 😅

@@turrafirmaguitarchannel I do believe you've hit on something there. There are indeed two distinct forms of GAS. People need to know this, for the furtherance of spousal understanding and support.

Yep, we need a 12 step program which I believe is a 12 “fret” program for people like us. Tough addiction to break!

  • @paulmaartensphotography9950

Can you help with a contact in Melbourne so that I can pick up the series 7 like that one of yours?

Hi I got mine from Eastgate Music, but I see that the Series 7 Single O is out of stock there. In fact it looks like it is hard to get now in Australia. There was one on line for $399. That is too expensive imo. It is a nice guitar but it has a ply top. I would want to pay $300 tops!

    Vs Gretch Jim dandy

    • @turrafirmaguitarchannel
      @turrafirmaguitarchannel  2 роки тому +2

Hi, the Gretsch Jim Dandy is available here in Australia for A$369. I haven’t played one but it has a 24” scale. These Recording Kings are full scale 25.4”. I reckon that would give them more power than the Gretsch.
