Nice operator. Of all the mill operators, you are the first to take off the slab BEFORE returning the saw to start position and NOT raising it high over the log. Less steps for the operator and less wear on the saw verticals. And only turning the log 1/4 turn instead of 180. I never understood why other operators didn't do it your way.
Thank you! Dealing with the last cut before moving the head back definitely saves me a lot of steps. It saves having to walk around the head to get to the slabs and, as you pointed out, wear on the head from moving it up to clear the last cut each time.. I also don't stop the blade after every cut. I think doing that is just a waste of time as well. The trick, as far as I can tell, is to make every movement count and try to be as efficient as possible.
