In a multicultural society it depends what type of Asian makes up the majority. In the UK the majority are brown Asians like Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Indians and Bengalis. In the US it is yellow Asians. So we think of Chinese, Koreans etc. I guess it is easier to compartmentalize ethnicities since the spectrum is wide although of course it isn't correct.

In a multicultural society it depends what type of Asian makes up the majority. In the UK the majority are brown Asians like Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Indians and Bengalis. In the US it is yellow Asians. So we think of Chinese, Koreans etc. I guess it is easier to compartmentalize ethnicities since the spectrum is wide although of course it isn't correct.
