    Great to see a running video of your rig. Looked like a fun event despite the nasty weather.

    Good driving brotha. People always try to rush at a comp. Nice to see you kept your cool and slowed the pace for the gates.

    WOW!!! Absolutely 100% impressive. You my friend, not only talk the walk, you WALK THE WALK!!! That is SOOOO Hard to do. Not only competing, but being filmed for a huge audience, HATS OFF!! The only question I have is, where was the wheelbarrow to carry your set of Elephant Balls? To top it off, miserable, wet and cold weather, making the course that much more difficult. I'm sure that some contestants made it through the course before the rain hit, making it much more difficult. All part of the game. Outstanding driving, fantastic build, what more can I say; subscriber for LIFE!!!

    Wow. Great to see all your hard work on the upgrades really paying off! See what you mean about bumpers and things getting caught up. And if you hadn't lowered the body there's no way you would have got under some of those overhangs! Great driving!

    I noticed that the free spool mod on your winch came in very handy!
    It also looks like the ToyZuki motor mount helped out ttemendously.
    How did the UNIMOG do?

    I'm into RC's and I tried to compete in a scale comp once but I didn't have any fun because everybody was focused competition and not really having fun. Great sport but not for me

    • @deusexaethera

      Sounds like you need to find a group crawl instead. Those are more about driving through the woods together vs. competing against each other.

    I would suck in a crawling competition. I'm not use to any of the rules. That's a beautifully setup truck though. Makes me jealous.

  • @megustachuletas3956
    @megustachuletas3956 5 років тому

    I realize this is an older video, but how did your transmitter take the rain? I was considered swapping my 4PV for a DX5 Rugged because I wanted to use it in all weather conditions (plus the 5th channel for other crawler stuff if needed).

  • @samwilton897

    What battery is best for use with stock version of the deadbolt? Great videos!

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  9 років тому

      Sam Wilton If you want a bunch of run time, just get a 5000 mah lipo (2s probably for most people) and have fun trailing for 2-3 hours without having to charge. I buy batteries through Hobbyking most of the time.

    should i buy one of these and do all these upgrades?

    • @bigchungus-oj8zz
      @bigchungus-oj8zz 6 років тому

      it's quite a commitment to perform all of the upgrades, not so much difficult as time consuming. I pick and choose based on what I am going to expect out my rig versus time and money.

    • @shaunwalling7045
      @shaunwalling7045 6 років тому

      I'm about to get mine but I'm ordering alot of upgrades and stuff with it

  • @treemanlee07
    @treemanlee07 8 років тому

    I'm not convinced that this performance justifies the money spent on mods and upgrades throughout this series? I'm betting a bone stock Deadbolt wouldn't be far behind in terms of capability. Either way, still a very informative series of vids. Many thanks.

    what was that winch point stick a dowel or broom handle

  • @ryleecovey4757
    @ryleecovey4757 9 років тому

    you need to put softer foam in the tires

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  9 років тому

      Softer foams would reduce sidewall stability and create poor side hill performance. This is a dual stage foam setup. You can find more info on this through Crawler Innovations.

    • @ryleecovey4757
      @ryleecovey4757 9 років тому

      Harley Designs it would just seam like you would have more grip with softer foam

    • @deusexaethera
      @deusexaethera 8 років тому

      Softer foams allow the tire to conform to the rock surface better, but they also allow the tire to fold-over when the truck is leaning sideways. There are always tradeoffs.
      I have a Telluride trail-truck build that uses Badlands SC tires with soft open-cell foams in them, and that truck side-hills really well because the truck's center of gravity is lower than it looks and the short-course wheels don't let the tires fold-over. My Wraith stomps it in terms of forward traction, but is more likely to fall over when side-hilling because it has such tall soft tires.

    if you want scale RC, then you need to find something to attach the winch or not use a winch. that would be the realistic way...

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  8 років тому

      +MrMrsregor it's typical to either attach to natural objects or other trucks. But this location was just too monolithic to find natural attachments.

    i hate timed comps, no fun in it at all, the goal is to have fun. not race. it is for points after all

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  9 років тому +1

      David Bobo It takes driver skill and active strategy to drive timed comps and it replicates the full size world. Keeping tight time limits makes drivers think on their feet, it's always interesting to see how drivers are able to control themselves.

    Trudging around in the rain goes against the very ideals of rc'ing. Can't your effers just relax & not turn everything into work? Cool vid anyway. Better you....

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  9 років тому

      We didn't drive half way across the country to not compete, most of the scale rigs built at this level are waterproof anyway.
