I was half expecting Tommy to be knocked out by the rocks spinning from Andre's truck. I love the chemistry between Nathan and Andre. Also, some great shots of the mountains! Another fun and entertaining video. "Children, we learned today that the Honda sounds like a Disney ride."
Honda may well make the best ATVs and motorcycles and small engines on the planet...my god the Chinese copy and reverse engineer Honda...and they used to call the japanese copycats...well now the show is on the other foot
that Ram really has to struggle to get its extra 3000 pounds of heft up that hill, or whats left of the hill. a few more Ram passes and that place will be as flat as Kansas
I have been up that trail many times. The driver of the Ram was having a panic attack before he even started. Put a decent driver in there Like Tommy and it would go right up that trail.
I really enjoy how you showcase everything from fact-based, informative vids to ones that are more spirited and fun. I especially like that vids like this one come out on Saturday mornings -- they really start the weekend off right. As always, great work, boys!
Fantastic editing! I've been subscribed to TFL Car long before the TFL Truck channel was started and before you guys had even 100k subscribers, and this is one of the best videos you guys have done.
Great video but I think the wrong question. The "Best Offroader" was clearly the Jeep Rubicon. But who had the most fun and who was the most challenged? Sometimes just being out there having fun is enough.
If they were truly your friends, they would pick a trail that everyone would be able to go down without getting stuck every time. Otherwise I would say that they are just letting you tag along. :-)
This was such a great video. I must admire the production quality. What comes across clearly is the amount of fun you guys have making these videos and the passion you have for all things automotive. U guys are a great team. Where else would you find such a great and dedicated team producing such great content, but at TFL..Keep rocking.
moved rocks before going -10 points. went off trail a little to gain traction -20 points. Removed the most worrying objects before going and still got stuck af -70 points.
Best out of the box? Rubicon. Best aftermarket? Rubicon. Best potential for extreme mods while remaining "street legal"? Truck because the wheel base. That 2 door will get to the point that you can't extend the wheel base anymore without making the axles the new bumpers. If it were a 4 door Jeep, I would give it to the 4 door.
Dave Loderhose competing against a toy and a dodge pickup? Not too difficult. Put it against an LandCruiser and pretty soon the smiling rear axle and c-clip diffs and general Jeep quality will show that it doesn’t complete.
Lol, what land cruiser? A new one? In America land cruisers are $80,000 with no ground clearance or capability to compete with these new Jeeps, especially rubicon’s
I love the ram rebel, but something that makes it suffer is that it doesn’t have a disconnecting sway bar or a front locker, that’s the only thing that it is missing since it’s built for off road
Nothing beats a Jeep off road for a factory production vehicle, no denying that, but gotta agree with Andre that it’s pretty cool to climb that hill, tow, haul, and be an all around great vehicle.
I'd like to see how well the Rebel would do that trail with Nathan driving it.To me he seems to have the most experience of the group at this sort of thing.
If you're going to put a side by side up there to compare against put a Polaris or at least a can am. You just can't compare a truck or a jeep to either maker side by side but great video and I still love how you do all your real world testing in my state COLORADO
THOSE RAM SHOTS WETRE IMPRESSIVE....keep that stuff up gents. Awesome video!!! Mr Truck keep doing the ATV and UTV stuff. It’s fun to watch and a good comparison.....
I like that they show 3 vary different vehicles to get to the same destination. But I was surprised that the RAM didn't get some trail scars, just because of it's size.
Well guys, you've convinced me for the ten-thousandth time that my next vehicle needs to be a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon! Still enjoyed the video as always! (even though the outcome was wholly predictable 😂)
Where he got stuck at. If a better line was chosen first and a bit of momentum he would have made it without stopping. Alot of people forgot about this one.
Since there are only these 3 to choose from, I would take the Rubicon. Then the Rebel. Then that side by side thing.(if you don't mind taking a chance of being flipped over onto your side)
What I got from this is that pioneer cost $9000 and both the ram and jeep cost $40000+ and the pioneer still made it. Also the pioneer is funner to break and cheaper to fix.
wrangler is great for sure! but imo, id still get the ram cause its a god damn crew cab with a long wheel base, with a bed lol.. the fact it still got up that insane hill is remarkable for ram. jeep wrangler if you dont need space, and ram if you have a family/need space/towing power/off-roading/and a bed in the back.. tbh, ram won in my eyes
I feel like thats more of a work side x side than an off road sport one. That thing looks like a golf cart with big tires, would love to see a polaris rzr go up dare one day, those things are a ton of fun and very off road worthy
What a crock, truck versus jeep versus side x side. Top of the line Rubicon versus sub par entries in the other 2 catagories. Replace the dodge with a Raptor, Colorado ZR2 or Tacoma TRD PRO, Replace the pioneer with a Yamaha YXZ1000, Can Am Maveric X3 or polaris RZR XP turbo. Now you have a real best offroader comp.
Love the new LEDs, interior changes, hood design, and the hopes of a 7.0L. For those reasons I am waiting to see the 5th gen Power Wagon. If it comes with the 7.0L and the great changes the 1/2 tons received, I will be at the dealer asap.
I'm gonna change the subject here. That Ford breaking down in your other video was hilarious!. It's one thing if it happens once but twice?!. LMAO Never once have you guy's ever had a Chevy or Dodge fail on you. 😂😂😂
It was the transmission that overheated. It stayed in low gear to long. Thats what the Stupid Ford engineers should have realized that a 3.0 liter engine can't hill descent a load that heavy. Bill Ford needs to fire them all. Idiots!
TNitro N Did ford come back and say that that was the problem that it overheated or are you just guessing. That torque converter should’ve been locked up which equals no heat generated. My bet is that it’s a algorithm problem with the shift pattern. Extended over rev.
Great videography Tommy, I was wondering about the 'flyin' rocks' though from the Ram. It's apparently a Jeep trail, and that 'wonderful Honda' would have been put to shame if I had my CanAm Outlander there to show Mr Truck just what TRACTION is all about!!!
The best offroad side by side is the Mahindra ROXOR 🤗. My baby jeep. Come to Virginia and review her. We will hide you deep in the mountains with 10.3 private miles of roads, and all the great terrain to have fun.
You just gotta love the Jeep. I love honda for their reliability, but they should have taken a razor up the hill. Polaris is just better for pure offroading than the honda is. They went best of the best in the truck and SUV category, they should have went best of the best in the side by side category as well. GREAT video though! Absolutely love your channel and all the guys were great in this video. Awesome camera work/editing as well!
This has been fun to watch thank you. I enjoy this type of video. Clearly you enjoyed yourselves making it. But of course it is not for real. None of your vehicles carries camping gear! .

Land Rover Discovery? (-:
I just dig the videos with Mr. Truck big kid at heart . This man should be everyone’s uncle
The proportions of that Honda look crazy, no wonder Ken rolled it, it looks way taller than it is wide.
Michael Smith it’s 500 that’s 50 inches wide
@@coltoncross4770 And yet it still looks like it has the stability of a single track motorcycle going up that hill.
That Jeep is the truth.
Mr. Truck: "who cares, we're climbing rocks today"! Pretty much sums it up! Great video!
Yeah . . . and price matters too.
I was half expecting Tommy to be knocked out by the rocks spinning from Andre's truck. I love the chemistry between Nathan and Andre. Also, some great shots of the mountains! Another fun and entertaining video.
"Children, we learned today that the Honda sounds like a Disney ride."
Stephen Y when the rock hit the camera I almost tried to dodge it. 🤣
Horacio Lopez lol!
Honda may well make the best ATVs and motorcycles and small engines on the planet...my god the Chinese copy and reverse engineer Honda...and they used to call the japanese copycats...well now the show is on the other foot
I think this is the BEST off-roading video TFL ever made
that Ram really has to struggle to get its extra 3000 pounds of heft up that hill, or whats left of the hill. a few more Ram passes and that place will be as flat as Kansas
I have been up that trail many times. The driver of the Ram was having a panic attack before he even started. Put a decent driver in there Like Tommy and it would go right up that trail.
stickloaf he was doing it on purpose, he wants it as flat as possible because the Chevy and Ford were going up next.
Tony Ruiz rams are ugly af
@@moneycash23g61 so is you nasty ass mama....
I agree nothing beats experience in off-roading too - it's all about controlling your speed and a lot of times he was too heavy on the gas.
By far of the past 6 years of watching this may be my favorite episode. The dramatic rebel clip was tops👍
The new body style Rebel is starting to grow on me.
The Wrangler didn't break a sweat. Wrangler is by far, the most fun vehicle on the market. Great video! Looked fun!
David Gatto ✌
The disconnecting sway bar really helps with articulation and traction.
Shame the Wrangler has zero tow capacity. If it could pull 6,500lb I'd consider one.
@@johnnyz1781 you dont buy a jeep for towing capacity
Specia1Monkey obviously since it can’t tow anything 🙄 I need a truck that’s more then just a cool looking toy.
Just can't beat a jeep . Great video as usual. Thanks
Mr. Bluegrass you can with a real off roader
From what knocking yourself out by driving a jeep over a bottle cap and flipping it
Great video but I think the wrong question. The "Best Offroader" was clearly the Jeep Rubicon. But who had the most fun and who was the most challenged? Sometimes just being out there having fun is enough.
Yep, it's all about fun in the sun
Preston Cook
Wrong, when offroading your friends are going to hate you...if you're the only one getting stuck every 15 minutes.
If they were truly your friends, they would pick a trail that everyone would be able to go down without getting stuck every time. Otherwise I would say that they are just letting you tag along. :-)
Preston Cook
Lol, It ain't a brady bunch reunion.
Really think your videos the past few months have moved to an entirely new level. All good stuff. Loved this one!
It is so fun to watch Andre and how happy he is to be doing the things he is doing. Love these videos. Keep em up guys and thanks for them.
This was such a great video. I must admire the production quality. What comes across clearly is the amount of fun you guys have making these videos and the passion you have for all things automotive. Thank you for a great comment!
The new Rebel looks really good
This reminds me of our deer lease before we fixed the roads up, 90s wrangle Was always the vehicle of choice. Jeep is the king of off road!
Nothing more fun than off-roading with some buddies.
Love the rebel they look real good.
moved rocks before going -10 points. went off trail a little to gain traction -20 points. Removed the most worrying objects before going and still got stuck af -70 points.
That's easy work for a Rubicon! Awesome show!
Ram guy almost had a heart attack. Too fancy to be on a trail like that ! Poor guy 😂😂😂
is my ZJ 'too fancy' ??
“Too fancy”?
Remember Dodge-Ram? Ram uses the same components as dodge. They suck.
You guys have really become one of my favorites! Way to beat on that Ram! Truly impressive what that truck can do! Keep it real!
By far my favorite episode yet. Keep up the good work guys!
Mr Truck is the most entertaining presenter on TFL. Keep it up.
Thanks, we have fun
Why did mr truck bring his golf cart? Get a Razor please
Nathan , laughing all the way to the top in the Rubicon . 😂
Like you said Roman ! Front locker on that bad boy and it could tackle anything !
That’s the Steve Urkel of side by sides.
Ha ha. I can no longer look at that side by side the same
True
Man i laughed waaaay too hard at this comment
The can am maverick would embarrass the hell out of both the ram and jeep
@@poopsalot Can Ams are built like garbage.
Dose the Jeep get tired of winning.

Love jeeps and will be getting one myself, but the fj40 will always be best imo
The Xterra beats it easily
Take the jeep to australia see how long it wins for, actually see how long it can even stay alive.
I love the ram rebel, but something that makes it suffer is that it doesn’t have a disconnecting sway bar or a front locker, that’s the only thing that it is missing since it’s built for off road

I was about to say the same thing😂
I'd like to see how well the Rebel would do that trail with Nathan driving it.To me he seems to have the most experience of the group at this sort of thing.
Agreed. Nathan is the best driver on TFL.
Imagine a video, where there's a real sxs in the mix.
Quality of your videos are getting really good. Nice job. Rubicon for me is by far the best and funnest for off road.
That wheel slip at 5:10 is the reason you buy a polars. Polaris has that better awd system than Honda.
If you're going to put a side by side up there to compare against put a Polaris or at least a can am. You just can't compare a truck or a jeep to either maker side by side but great video and I still love how you do all your real world testing in my state COLORADO
The heavy breathing like he was working up hill but not the truck. Man was one with the machine
I love the offroading vids with new trucks improving but I really wish you guys would make a segment for the kings of the 90s trucks.
Who had the most fun tho? That smile said it all for the rebel. 😎👌
Awesome show again, hope you guys could use a G-wagon and range rover and discovery on dare
Discovery 2 best out of the discoverys for off roading
The pioneer comes with 12" tires for a reason. You put 14" tires on them that's gonna screw up the gearing and make it harder to get tourqe
THOSE RAM SHOTS WETRE IMPRESSIVE....keep that stuff up gents. Awesome video!!!
Mr Truck keep doing the ATV and UTV stuff. It’s fun to watch and a good comparison.....
When are you going to test the Roxor, from Miahindra against the Jeep.
Paul Wicklund that rotor is awesome
The minute they send us one!
Cool idea and video, I have a Polaris RZR that is great for the mountains. Especially old miner trails.
"Who cares we're climbing rocks today?"
"What's that gotta do with climbing up a mountain?"
hahaha too funny
I like that they show 3 vary different vehicles to get to the same destination. But I was surprised that the RAM didn't get some trail scars, just because of it's size.

That 4 Door Lexus it cared last time it was here. Didn’t make it up dare.
They already did..... it got stuck.

Where he got stuck at. If a better line was chosen first and a bit of momentum he would have made it without stopping. Alot of people forgot about this one.
Power wagon already got stuck on that trail in a previous video. Sorry
Should've had a Polaris Ranger 1000 or RZR 1000. And I'm surprised the Power Wagon wasn't a part of this.
Power Wagon didn't care.
Lol
It’s not like TFL just calls up the manufactures and say hey send me over this or that truck it’s whatever they get at the time.
Use a real sxs next like the Maverick RC witch is designed for rock climbing
They tried it in a previous video and it got stuck. Check it out.
Climbing rocks is all about what wheel you have how much power and weight so you can get up the rocks to get traction
Haha, who said Andre had a toupe? Lol. Nice response Andre!
Since there are only these 3 to choose from, I would take the Rubicon. Then the Rebel. Then that side by side thing.(if you don't mind taking a chance of being flipped over onto your side)

Heck yea!
This is a real dilemma for many people. Great episode! Now do a crossover SUV off road comparison on 2.0 dare.
you guys should make a shirt that says " Rubicon don't care!"

On your 500?
yes
I want to go off roading, I have taken my explorer on a few trails but they were way to easy. I didn't even engage 4wd

also, i think my 01 tacoma standard cab short bed 4x4 with KO2's and a 3 inch lift would have held its own pretty dang well. Just sayin ;)
Airing down improves the ride and better traction.
What is best depends on condition/location! The best would be either pickup or ARGO (side by side)!!
I do off-road work. So being able to pull a load at least twice the weight of the tow vehicle over the trail makes a huge difference.
Could y'all try some single cab new trucks in the offroad test too? One's with shorter wheel bases just to see how they fair with the jeep.
You should add a 88-95 4runner. Only 2 inches wider than the UTV, so it almost the same, and a lot cheaper.
They need a similar priced SxS. That Honda has a very short width along with tiny tires. I run 30 inch and they are still not the biggest.
This competition needs a rematch in mud!
There's nothing like a jeep period.
Jeep if you want a pure offroader. 4Runner/Taco/Xterra/Frontier if you want to do long travel with some offroading "overlanding" as they call it now.
This has been fun to watch thank you. I enjoy this type of video. Clearly you enjoyed yourselves making it.
