You should do more of these challenges and turn it into a bi-weekly / monthly thing to engage with your audience and teach your filmmaking and cinematography techniques! I really loved the challenge and can't wait to participate in the next one! Heck, I wouldn't even mind paying like $5-$10 as an entry fee as a way of supporting you and for compensating the time you take to review all the videos and choose winners! (No prize necessary, the information you give via the critiques are plenty)
Thank you Brandon , for taking time in making this video . Loved your feedbacks and certainly looking forward for new challenge and learning from your videos .
the last short film, i think it is quite easy to understand because I've seen a similar plot somewhere... in facts there is a ghost or another paranormal being which is trying to get the main character in the same place as him (to scare him? devour him? offer him some cookies?) by behaving and copying his room mate's voice features: what is interesting is that we are living the situation together with the protagonist knowing exactly what he knew in that specific moment.
I got the chills from the last video when the guy touched his shoulder.. :)! Great videos and great review Brandon! Please make more of these challenges!.
I really enjoyed watching the clips and hearing your thoughts. It's been very educational and inspirational. I'm not a short film maker but as a UA-cam content creator I do kinda make short films, just not in movie context so this has been useful thank you
Really digging this "do a challenge" and then review some of the entries. Also your presentation on CineSummit a couple years ago had such good content! Def worth repeating here :) I'm curious if you could pick only 3 prime lenses from your arsenal for a trip what would they be in order of most important to least important?
Thanks for the creative challenge and the use of our film in your thumbnail! Looking forward to more challenges. In our attempt to negate away from the common theme of thriller, we actually decided to do like a juxtaposition of a thriller (ie intense scenes/sound score) and comedy (i.e. we're actually just portraying making sausages). Hence, the film was called Sweeney (you know, Sweeney Todd -- who made pies out of dead people). Again thanks for the review! Really great comments on cinematography and flow. P.S. - you didn't completely "butcher" my name. See the irony? HAHA
This was awesome! I completely missed this challenge... I agree with the other commenter, please issue more challenges! Thanks again for your hard work... Where is your next trip?
RIP. Thanks for the review. I can pretty much say there reason you don't know the plot is because there isn't one. Just a dude coming in from outside and wanting to drink some water. Then it gets a little weird. Once again, appreciate the review and the idea to make something over the weekend with a buddy. Keep on keeping on.
I would assume that the Sweeney video's ending is a direct take on Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Sondheim's famous Broadway musical about a barber who starts killing people and grinding them up to make meat pies.
That 25% thing is really relevant especially in the vlogging scene. I'm trying to make viewers stick to the end of my videos with the first 5 seconds and it's haaaaaaard. But I'll be better.
its funny that you thought the hacker one with the transition in the beginning was a ticking clock. The ticking sound actually comes from the mechanical keyboard he has.
Hey Brandon! I'm a fan of your work! I'm slowly building up my cinematography game. Lol I doubt that I'll catch up to your caliber because you do amazing work!! Your semana santa was great! Would you be willing to critique other short film?
Great videos! I'm writing my first short film and I would love to send you the script or storyline before I get into production. Thanks for the awesome content.
Hi Brandon a? Did you dump the a6300 it's not listed in your gear profile ya I know you got the a6500. Set up a few story shorts videos for you to review there is a lot of good feed back even if you can only review a few as you know the the more we learn the better the content. Thanks JoP
Hi Brandon! Thanks so much for all the great videos. In this video and your video at B&H, you talked about the importance of quality sound fx/foley. Where do you get yours? I've always used Audioblocks to mixed results and was curious what you use. Would love to see a video on how you do your sound editing and design. Keep up the great work and thank you!

I'm still shooting it haha, first time directing an actor, was super difficult but incredibly exciting too!
Just found your channel, enjoying it very much my man. Too bad I missed this challenge!
Hi Brandon, the Sweeney entry may be referencing to "The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" (Sweeney Todd) where they make human meat pie
Oh I loved this! Honestly inspiring and helpful. Can't wait to see more of your videos
Fantastic. I always come away from your videos with something that I can go and try in my next video. So useful . Thank you.
The sausage thing is probably about sweeney todd, who was a barber that cut up his customers and made pies out of them
That's how I took it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweeney_Todd:_The_Demon_Barber_of_Fleet_Street_(2007_film)
I've just watched a couple of your videos and I already enjoy ur channel! It really helps me as a growing and aspiring filmmaker
I really enjoyed watching the clips and hearing your thoughts. It's been very educational and inspirational. I'm not a short film maker but as a UA-cam content creator I do kinda make short films, just not in movie context so this has been useful thank you

Yeah I missed the reference
Hello Bradon, after watching your boring video yesterday, i shot mine today and edited . thanks for such a self training course.
That 25% thing is really relevant especially in the vlogging scene. I'm trying to make viewers stick to the end of my videos with the first 5 seconds and it's haaaaaaard. But I'll be better.
Thank You for consistently inspiring and challenging.
looks like you should create a video for some of your subscribers about plot, pacing, and general storytelling techniques
I saw the last film more like a trailer not like a short film. It was my favourite :)
I made one but I guess its too late to submit now. By the way, really love this challenge. Please keep them coming!
Holy, the last one when he said "Hey man, could you come here real quick" sounded like it came from my kitchen and I'm home alone... lol
congratulations for 60k subscribers! :)
its funny that you thought the hacker one with the transition in the beginning was a ticking clock. The ticking sound actually comes from the mechanical keyboard he has.
Ticking clock is a screenwriting term, not literal
I would love to see more challenges like this :) Maybe I will enter one day as well ;)
Great advice Brandon!
You could just call this the "I don't have money to visit exotic places but want to make videos" challenge
Hey Brandon!
I'm a fan of your work! I'm slowly building up my cinematography game. Lol
