You are worth your weight in gold the way you enthuse about our country. Thank you 👏👏👏
Awh you absolute legend Darrell thanks for the lovely words your good as gold 😉
The guy shouldn't be blasphemously using Jesus's name
Awesome footage guys! The 'green fluff' on the trees is lichen; it only thrives in clean air and is a sign of good air quality. Even though it was windy, you were filling your lungs with the good stuff!
Iris Burn - named for my mother, whose family were early Fiordland settlers, explorers, climbers. Never been to it so excted to visit vicariously through you guys. Thank you.
You made my day for 72 year old soul. Your attitude is amazing! Safe travels to both of you.
Awesome video. A little trick for carrying eggs. Break them into a cylinder container (water bottle), fill any extra space with water. Pour the water out and then the eggs will pour out one at a time. Then fill the excess with water and they won't break.
That’s absolute magic thanks for tip 🙌
The noise you could hear from the trees on day three was made by cicadas
You are the most amazing couple your enthusiasm and friendliness are the best
Good grief viewers, hit those Likes!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍What more do you want?? 🤷♀️🤷♂️😢
It's a one hour twenty video, so give people a chance to watch it first!😄😉
@@BeachcomberNZ when people like these work this hard on their videos, I hit that like on my way in!!
Thanks heaps Lesley you legend ❤️
Your best video yet, and movie length too! Really enjoyed that, thank you guys.
Damn yeah was hard to fit it all into one video. Was hesitating to split the video in two.
The sound track made it even more epic😂👍
Excellent and enjoyable watch, and congratulations on pushing through, despite the weather! The Kea parrots certainly took a shine to you! As for the chopper, I think it may have been on a waste collection flight, probably to that alpine toilet with the big tanks, which are what the chopper would be picking up and replacing with an empty one. That yellow water is most likely coloured that way from the tannins released by decaying plant matter in the streams - sort of a natural tea.
Yeah your totally right in relation to the choppers we were at the huts when the chopper was coming that morning and the ranger was explaining 🙂
I was captivated from beginning to the end. Better than Lord of the Rings !
Hahahah far from it 😂
thank you guys so much for cheering up my hum drum day
Awh thanks for watching means the world to us!
Those shower facilities are great! I just wish all towns and cities had them, everywhere!!😊
I don't know why you two are so exhausted at the end, from where Im sitting it only took you 1 hour 20 minutes. pretty easy 😁😁😁
Fantastic effort and as a kiwi I thank you for promoting our country so wonderfully.... Nga mihi guys...
That was by far your best!!
Your messing! 😂
😂 im allowed to touch mushrooms, mado. I thoroughly enjoyed this, you two are legends
😂😂😂😂
So glad those clouds parted for you! Lord of the Rings crew were most definitely a brave lot! Well done to you two!😊💫💫👏 Gorgeous video
Great Video. I really enjoyed it. I was lucky enough to be part of the group that hiked from the Moturau Hut to the Iris Burn Valley marking the track along the way in 1986. That hike took us 3 days through dense bush, sides of mountains that slid into the river and the rain. I helped build the Iris Burn Hut and a small section of the track from the hut. I have great photo's of stages of the construction of the hut from laying the foundation to raising the wall frames. I walked the track in 1989 when it officially opened. I was really surprised at how it looked then. I did it again in 2011. This time the Iris Burn Hut had extras added to it. Seeing it on your video it seems to have grown even bigger. 1989 capacity was 20 bedder. 2011 capacity 40 bedder. Your video 50 bedder. I have plans to have one more crack in 2026. It will be the 40th anniversary.
wow impressive, very interesting and thanks for sharing your story🙂
That was an epic trip GLenn and Mado enjoyed it....NICKY is exceptional. value don't know where she got to but your AWSOME NICKY
😂😂 you two are so chaotic and joyful, love it 😂😂
We do our best thanks heap Marias 😂
That was great you two. Te Anau is my happy place I go there once a year for a week but have never walked the Kepler. So good to follow you along. Loving the way your showcasing our country to the world 👌
I can't wait to hike this track again. Great video!! I love the music at 32mins, haha so funny
So, that was the warm up track... Next time you visit NZ I will guide you on the Te Araroa, if you would like,.. The 3000km route stretching from Cape Reinga in the north of New Zealand to Bluff in the south... Takes about 4 months... Would suggest a month of training with a backpack if you are keen 👍💪
Great footage of your hike..the good (like how positive Glen is motivating Mado on), the bad (weather) and the ugly (sandflies attack 😂). Thanks for sharing reality and challenges of the long hike in bad weather
So awesome guys - I watched the whole thing!
Those bags are huge. I hope Glen carried all his own food!😊 Much better to have more food, clothes etc than you need, just in case of any emergencies. I wish the weather had been nicer right through though, for your first time!
Such amazing hike
The footage also very wonderful to watch
The sceneries is top tier
Great video. A little concerned about Glen's lack of layers in the cold stuff. And there were periods when it would have been great to have hiking poles. But glad you made it and took us along for the journey. As a great NZer once said, you knocked the bastard off! :)
Hahah cold due to being so wet! That was probably the factor. We basically only did 2 great walks so no use buying all the expensive gear as we wouldn’t need it again when we leave Nz. Appreciate it mark means a lot we did our best 😂
They are only thinking of your safety with these rules guys. You don't want to have to pay to get the helicopter in to rescue you. Put the volunteers at risk also.Te Anau is awesome. I have stayed at the holiday park up on the hill at the end of town, in my campervan two or three times.
Hi Guys, excellent video of the unforgettable Kepler track! I stumbled onto this clip and thought i'd better check it out as the weather looked shocking, nearly as bad as when we did it earlier this year! Well, believe it or not and to my upmost surprise the weather was identical because we feature in your video!! At the 24.00-minute mark our group is on the left sitting down in Luxmore hut and then at 45:11 you feature my back at Iris burn! I didn't personally meet you or talk to you but you may have interacted with some of our group but what an experience on day two hey! Man! that was wild across the top.
I have now subscribed and appreciate the longer videos, keep them rolling and happy travelling.
Cheers, Alan, Janet and Tully.
Best mossy and sandfly spray is ""Bushmans"In a green can from Australia. Nothing else works apart from a mix of equal amounts of Johnsons baby oil and Dettol!! Well done on doing the track too, great effort and amazing views!!
We actually had that! Didn’t do much to be honest! We had the bushman’s cream 80percent deet 😂 thanks heaps for the recommendation
Wow, not much you can do about them then. Cover right up when you head to the West Coast then. Stay safe and keep having fun 🙏🙏@@GlenAndMado
@@GlenAndMado I have old perfume it really works with the sand flies. I cannot find my original comment. Suffice to say at next op shop check out scent section🫶🏼
Cicadas are our Summer insects cacophony summer sounds in kiwi land
You made the trek so enjoyable LEGENDS 🫶🏼
Thank you for taking us on your hike. I walked the beginning of that track a few years ago. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Enjoy your pie!
We definitely enjoyed the pie!
Well done guys, it's truely an awesome vista of nature we have here in New Zealand 🇳🇿. You guys did a great job and no deadly creepy crawlies here in NZ.
haha yeah thats the great thing about it! hope your good buddy :)
Simply amazing…everything
Amazing adventure thanks fir showing me this love track as I can't hike anymore and it was on my list of tracks to do
The scenery in this video is simply magical, people should feel privileged to be able to access such an amazing piece of the world , I am sure the kepler track will be etched in your memory for life, especially the wild day 2 where every step could be your last, i think mother nature actually lives there , Top effort Mado and Glen -Fantastic have watched it twice , cheers
Great video guys 😊 You certainly had a very windy trip!
what a treat! over an hour!
You did it !!! Awesome job guys.those memories are now with you forever 💯✅❤️❤️ thanks for taking the time to document it for us ☺️
We want to show the world how great the country is, thanks heaps for the special comment 🙂
You were great Glen encouraging Mado onward. fluffy stuff is lichen ( lye- kin)
The best thing in this episode is that you guys always stay positive even in the extreme weather condition! Walking Kepler track has came to the top list of my next New Zealnd travel. Thank you for amazing video! Huge respect from Japan👏🇯🇵
I enjoyed that, nice job guys!!
Wow, that was awesome. It was edited long enough for me to feel part of it and feel a little of what you went through. WELL DONE! A beautiful track!
Yeah it was a long video! Probably will be our longest too. Wasn’t sure if I would make it shorter or not. Let’s see what the rest of the people think 🤔
Quite often these South Island mountains require patience with weather and river levels.
Your video was longer than Gone with the Wind, but I enjoyed every minute. You are brave souls G & M
Damn that’s an old film! 😂
Love you both ❤ Thanks for being alive and sharing your experiences . So good 🎉
Well done guy's!!
Amazing video. Thank you both for taking me on your journey. ❤️
Thanks again ❤
Mado, please don't be frightened of our gorgeous ' green parrots ' 😊 They are just very inquisitive and cheeky and friendly, Just think of the fact that they have to survive in that wilderness and weather, poor wee things.
Haha she was afraid that they would steal the camera from my hand 😂🙌
Such a cool adventure. Great filming effort too.
So different weather. Sunny down and so windy in the mountains.🙂
Legends 💪😀 Thanks for sharing your trip, that was such an awesome watch! I’m now itching to get outdoors tomorrow. Enjoy that pie! 🥧😋
Go for it and make it happen don’t think twice 😂
Glad yous are still smiling and enjoying your trip around n
Watching it was like doing the trek with you. You really are both very stoic - both to do the trek but also to document it for us as you went! Big congratulations.
Thanks heaps! 🙏
Nothing better than tramping in the rain. It’s a state of mind - roll with it and push on
haha yeah thats the spirit!
TOO MUCH you two..Bloody awessome..my Son did it,, DAAD it was awsesome. You 2 are the best...GOAT. !!

All we wanted to was just to participate in it no matter what the circumstances! Thanks heaps for watching Vinnie your good as gold
Top work guys, I am glad you saw blue ducks, very special birds that many haven't seen. those "crickets" in the trees are Cicatas.
You bet what an amazing experience 🙂
Fabulous video ......
Wow❤❤ Well done guys, you are both legends🤜🤛 Thank you for the amazing journey! It's so awesome sharing your NZ experience. See yous on the next trip.
Haha thanks for the support! Trying to keep the momentum 😎🙏
@@GlenAndMado 🧡🧡
Wow you both are so brave to survive all weather conditions . The terrain is breathtaking. Well done guys !
Great Job this time. Thanks for sharing this epic episode. 👍
Yes you could drink the water by the track there is no ACID RAIN in NZ
I think the fluff on the trees is lichen (maybe)
There are some awesome tracks in NZ.
I've done a few, but it's my home country so I should have. Never done that one though.
New Zealand is absolutely beautiful you should be out enjoying it and seeing it all! 👀😉
The comment from Glen then the death stare from Maddo at 1:15:43 🤣. Thank yous both for the effort yous put in to make content for us.
So so awesome ❤
Thanks for showing me the track. I have lived my whole life here and never thought to do it. Might have to start getting in shape and think about it in a year or 2.
The Kea are beautiful birds, absolute mischief in winged form, but amazing to just watch them interact with the world, and each other. My brother used to work up in the Mountains, removing wild pine trees on DoC land. I remember he told me one day a Kea managed to unzip his bag (was within eyesight but he didn't notice), Pulled his lunchbox out and opened it. Stole his whole lunch. Being up in the mountains cant really pop down to the bakery, was a very hungry afternoon.
It's never too late! Get into momentum prepare yourself for the next couple of months and do next year's one! nothing is getting in your way. We believe in you ❤️ we heard a few horror stories with the kea also but I mean if you leave your bag down prepare for that haha
Proud of you guys it's awesome to see you's take on this challenge and beat it and it's been an amazing adventure you's have taken us on. Thanks love it.👍♥️
Great video and awesome footage well done.
Been looking forward to this video for weeks. Thanks guys. I wonder if you started the Kepler the day we finished the Milford, as we were stuck on the track for an extra night at the last hut. Its all part of the fun. 😂
we basically started the kepler on the 18th of jan :) weather was insane around then!
I did the Kepler a few years ago and had hail most of the second and saw that kea in the same spot.
Ouch that sounds painful! We’re lucky we didn’t get golf balls bounced of our head 🫣
Love this video of you two! 😊
Wow.. I've never done those walks. You guys have seen more of my country than I have. Living the dream. Amazing.
Better than watching a movie. Great film work and drone shots (more drone views please!). Thank you both. May your journeys continue to be as good as the Kepler Track.
thanks daniel for that! didn't think the it was up to that standard haha.
You two are warriors awesome effort n thanks for taking us along can’t wait to see what is next.😊🙏👌
You did awesome. Well done on the Kepler!
The weather was crazy but your hike will probably be more memorable because of it - the changing conditions were quite awesome 👍😃
good stuff team ! brilliant work , how many times did Glen mention Jesus Lol
That was FUN!!! laying in bed watching you both. Unfortunately I would never be able to do such things any more...Loved it....Thankyou so much
Another wonderful adventure for you both! Glen, you have boundless positivity and you are so encouraging to Mado! I wish I could give you multiple thumbs up!! 👍👍👍

Fantastic vlog guys, needed the longer version.
Weather may not have been "blue sky perfect" but the stormy conditions bring their own beauty to the party.
What an experience !
Have to return one day, when the barometer is a little bit more favourable 🌤 :)
Well done Glen, Mado & your friend Nikki
