    Listen to what he said on his video about ending pumpkin training. He is experiencing some burnout overtraining. And lets be real from 120kg to 105 in months is not a good idea... now i know he has a supermatch in canada soon or something

    I’m kind of glad Devon canceled this match, because I think that at Devon’s current stage of his career, that he would be too skinny &?weak at only 105kg, I don’t care if he competed at this weight when he was younger, That was then and this is now, I’d rather see Devon take a rest, revamp his training style a bit, and compete at 115kg, I think Devon would do better at 115kg.

    The match v Levan took its toll mentally on Devon. Understandable. He had a high expectation from himself, he wasnt use to be dominated that way by anybody, 2x in a row. I guess he realized that he actually has a limit. Taking a break is a smart move.

There is always a heavyweight for Devon, that is his true weight class. Of course, Devon is a legend, i could even say a guy did enough to be considered a GOAT, of course if people say its John forever i get that, i have no problem with it, but i havent seen anyone more dedicated to this sport than Devon. No matter what we want to see from him, and how often we want to witness those fights, we are not here to push Devon set his plans according to our willings and cravings. This is, probably, the wisest decision he has ever made, concerning his health, the sport he supports with his being, and his tremendous efforts towards it. Whomever aims for constant highest peaks, is doomed eventually, to a downward spiral. Check the symbolic story (mythos) about Icarus and his flight towards the sun.

    he did everything to be done with his right hand and he deserves the break even if it is a long one. now for his left i think there is a whole lot of arm wrestlers out there out of focus because of all these super heavy weight right arm matches promotion. i wanna see devon come back and competing with his left hand. devon vs muratov or devon vs morozov will be hell of a match so yeah hopefully devon will come back with his left hand this time.

    I think Devon realized the hole in his game. A fast side pressure followed by the press seems to be his kryptonite. Even in his practice with Auden, even if it's practice, it's visible in his face when Auden went for that press. And he needs to recover as well after all these matches or else even Dadikyan might just flash through him using same technique

  • @drkphoenix097
    @drkphoenix097 21 день тому +1

  • @theplaymakerno1
    @theplaymakerno1 20 днів тому

    I thought that Devon did not go full hard for Levan. It seemed like at the end of his training, he wasn't doing that well, even confidence wise. I also think that he might be dealing with some personal issue and that is the reason why he called the match off, or probably doesn't have the desire to compete at a high level anymore. We also must not forget that he is focusing a lot on his son and wishes to be his mentor. So there is a huge possibility that Devon will just retire very soon.

      See where your coming from with this, but reading into what Devon said there's a possibility he might be alluding to something else. Devon said that his 'foundation' isn't there anymore and he's often referred to his overall body strength as his foundation. It's also been mentioned a lot recently, although not directly be Devon, that he needs some fundamental strength training adding to his workouts. I believe Devon has admitted that his biceps aren't strong enough. Also his pumpkin training has ended as well, so all this potentially means that he might start to work on some more conventional training? Devon kind of see's himself as a working experiment so when one experiment has achieved all it can he'll likely move onto something else.

      The fact that he hasn't realized this until now...a truth even beginners understand...shows that Devon is nowhere near as intelligent as some people think. It is OBVIOUS to anyone with a working brain that EVERY muscle used on the table should be trained...and not only with partial/surge reps, either.
      It literally took Devon 30 years to comprehend principles the rest of the world understands in the first year or two..

      @@TheObserver83 Devon has done a LOT right when it comes to training. In some ways, he has helped revolutionize armwrestling training more than any other. However, he has also been oblivious to some of the most obvious factors involved in armwrestling success.
      So, he is somewhat of an anomaly in this regard. He has pinpointed vital aspects of armwrestling training, while failing to see the bigger picture. It has ALWAYS been a flaw of his. How many times have we heard him say "this is the most important strength/function in armwrestling", only to see him completely contradict himself a few years later?
      One of many examples would be grip strength (i.e., finger strength throughout multiple finger joints). Just a few years ago, he told everyone grip training was useless and completely unnecessary. Yet, he just told Alex Kurdecha (in a recent training video) that it was the. MOST important strength in armwrestling!
      Over the years, he has repeatedly contradicted himself multiple times. Yet, even intermediate armwrestlers OFTEN understand that ANY strength/function used on the table is important...because it is
      The TRUTH is that being the absolute best open-weight armwrestler one can be absolutely requires the maximization of EVERY fundamental AND secondary strength used on the table. How this alluded Devon for 30 years is beyond me.
