    Agree with everything re motning watering and building up a thatch thickness. The new thatch holds moisture and keeps the roots shaded and cool.

    I know you feel. I live in a area where it barely rains. The forest will show no rain for 2 weeks. Then it rains for 2 days in a row once every 2 weeks. We get temperatures up to 100°F and up. I water until November. I turn off the sprinkler at the end of September. But hand water until November. So try to live with temperature in the 80s until November. Sometimes we water in the winter because we will get no snow or rain at times.

    I love how low 90's is brutally hot! Try 112°-118° and give us Phoenician lawn care guys a call😀 love the videos!

      Joel Grosvenor is rather deal with 120 in Phoenix over 85 in Georgia. That humidity makes a huge difference. I’ve lived in both places and the south feels much hotter.

    Thank you. Good presentation. You might mention that lawn watering depends on climate. Here in Nevada humidity runs between 10-20 percent--much less than east of the 100th meridian.

    simplicity tractors have rollers full deck width and use threaded rod to adjust the hight as high as 2.5-3 inches or so

    Your OCD is driving me crazy. But, I'm learning a lot from you, especially, about pressure washing.

    I think I got the wrong video.. im from western Queensland in Australia and was looking for some info on how to grow my lawn with this drought.. I had a bit of a laugh when I saw 13 days without rain equals a drought.. we haven’t had any rain in 4 months

    Any tips on watering in the summer when under watering restrictions?

    Great video but I don’t agree with leaving thatch unless you spend time in your lawn daily. Thatch promotes weed outbreaks and thinning of the turf.

    Hmmmm...unfortunately, my sprinkler system is 20 years old, and needs to be replaced (thousands). Hence, I have to spot water each section of my 1.6 acre yard, at least 10 minutes per section. Which takes all day, once a week, just to keep my grass alive. Because it's only rained 3-4 times this summer (drought). My water bill is shocking! Usually, the summers are horrible in zone 7b. Although, this year is the worst drought in years. Summer ends in a few days! Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

    Can it just be left to go dormant? Bermuda, I'm fine with that for a month or two when hot af in Dallas

    Has anybody tried Revive Soil Treatment, designed to save water? I used some a month ago and it seemed to help a lawn suffering from the higher UVB and C we are getting because of climate change. Bought it at Lowes so it must be a reliable product.

      How To with Doc is it safe to assume that in North Texas, zone 8/8a, I can follow your exact Bermuda protocols? I'm stocked up with potting soil... Just need to get some sand to do some top dressing treatments. Thanks for teaching us, Doc!

    Doc, do you consistently hit the lawn with liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks, regardless of temperature?

    • @HowTowithDoc
      @HowTowithDoc  6 років тому +1

      With the liquid lawn it's fine as long as there is no drought. . It's a 10-1-2 and is used as a supplement in my lawn program. Play with it and have fun. Do some test strips on an area and TRY and burn it. Going to do that next month.

    I know it's different up here in Maine but I bet you'd go into an anxiety attack seeing lawns up north here. I'd say 75-90% of the lawns are more patches of green with nothing but sand and gravel the rest of the place. Course most people just want the grass outta the way, not primo lawns. The "bad" lawns ur showed are about as nice as it gets here.

    What is top dressing?

    • @HowTowithDoc
      @HowTowithDoc  6 років тому

      Generally speaking... it's some form of topsoil with a lot of organic matter in it. We use a 50/50 mix of cheap potting soil and sand.
