Well guys today we're going to be once again taking a look at a classic on the channel, Extreme Cheapskates, and it is still very hard to watch. I again wanted to find an episode with a family terrorized by their cheapskate father as he makes them share food at a diner, drink hose water out of water bottles, and grill out over a flower pot. Anyways enjoy and I'll see you guys next week!

This dad one hundred percent spends like close to 80 dollars a month on beer for himself but is unwilling to buy water for his family
Bottled water is a scam anyways
@@beepbeeplettuce5890 not really. It tastes different and is much more convenient.
Don't buy bottled water they set it out for free infont of a lot of convenient stores.
@@p_campbell what does are you going to? I have never seen that before ever.
@@adoe2305 You know several bottled water companies have been caught literally just using city tap water with no extra filtering steps I worked at Nestle and that's literally what was happening there I have also heard dasani and lifewater do this too. The taste difference is mainly in peoples head unless you buying some "fancy water" for 5$ a bottle and they have one filter process you have probably just been drinking tap anyways. A breta pitcher is super worth it, 6 months per filter and if it is not convenient to pour water into a pitcher you gonna have a lot of problems in life lol.
I love how most of their money saving tactics only save them a few pennies while being extremely time consuming and inconvenient and looking like a fool
That's every Boomer who was raised by parents who lived through the Great Depression. Bonus points if they're also a hoarder.
They value their money more than their time
That's what I always think when I see people doing stuff like this. Is the money they're saving even worth the time they're spending to save it?
It's more explainable, but I could not get it through my dads head why I won't drive to a gas station that's just 10c/gal less. We're in rural midwest, if I drive to the main town that's 10c/gal less thats about a 20mi round trip. Meaning I'm using 3/4gal so say $3, with a 10gal tank. On E, I'd be saving $1 on gas, while spending $3 to get there and back... Basically a waste of $2 AND 30min of my day.
I've heard too that some ( not all ) of theese ppl are relatively well off too. Like bruh it's okay to spend just do so responsibly
i think the moms "the kids love it, it like treasure hunt!" is a great example of how delusional the parents always are 💀
Yeah lmao. All I know is I worked at a gas station that had vacuums and I saw alot of needles in it when I emptied it. So that’s just straight up dangerous
The mom kind of sounds like she's just clutching the last remaining fragments of denial that she has
Most of these episodes are scripted. She probably hates her life and can’t stand her husband. The dude is a full blown narcissist making his family suffer for his delusions. What kind of pathetic male makes his kids dig for quarters but brags about “beer being one of his passions”… pathetic.
I remember seeing one episode where the husband finally got convinced to take his wife to the movies and he dug around in the trash to get a large popcorn bag and soda cup to get the free refills. He then gave this literal trash to his wife without telling her how he came by these treats. She was so happy because she thought he was being thoughtful and nice. I was so mad I had to turn the TV off, lol
i remember that like damn. hope its a bit
I remember that episode. His wife thought he actually spent some money on their movie date and was touched by it without knowing he dug through the trash.

I think this is actually what they call generational trauma, Chris.

Chris knows generational trauma all to well. You can tell.
Both the sons just look dead inside while the daughters are trying to be positive, but I swear sometimes it's looks like they are biting back tears.

Dude refilled plastic water bottles with hose water for his family, but right below it has a whole shelf of beer in the fridge. No cheaping out on the booze 😆
I'm surprised they didn't cut to him making toilet wine to "save money"

I gotta be honest with you. The freshly grilled flowerpot campfire burgers are a big, BIG step up from the catfood sandwich, the eternal pasta water, or jeebus save us all the dishwasher lasagna.
You’re not wrong!
I thought the exact same, besides the fridge thing this guy is not nearly as bad as the other ones 😂😂
Not certain what eternal pasta water is but it doesn't actually sound bad, you just get noodle flavored noodles, unless they did it in a really weird way

The worst part about being a kid is adults can tell you to do ANYTHING and you just have to do it. I feel so bad for them.
Yep my mother would try and get me to wash the car with the windshield cleaner at gas stations
And some adults are power hungry and love to have power over others. These people are usually people who work with children, or in anything that allows you to control others or tell them what to do. Those people suck so bad
Also power hungry people are never good authority figure
Hmmm... I wonder why we do that? 🤔
It's a known fact that children make the best possible life decisions for themselves.
Right?!
@@flanflan88 This is a strange response to what was said. It comes across as you implying that adults are always justified in what they force kids to do.
As a waitress it’s very frustrating to clean up all the sugar spilt on the counter and the lemon juice and then a lot of families like this was run you and ask you for 50 different things at different times and usually have an attitude so dealing with all that and then not getting a tip or getting a tip like $2 or $1 it makes it very frustrating so I can understand why the waitress would be mad at you
Id be pissed. Served for 6 years and I dealt with this shit all the time.
I think you guys care too much about your minimum wage jobs, they're entitled to be there. It'd be a relief to have a family loitering at the counter rather than dealing with 6 customers
arent u supposed to clean that counter, wether it’s sugar, something worst, or just dust anyway ?
@@crimberlies yes you have to clean it anyway but it’s more about it being more difficult and when you’re in a rush you have to take extra time away from other tables which also affects your tips
@@saul-goodman it kind of just depends if they leave a good tip then yeah they can stay for a long time but a lot of time waitresses have sections and if your section is full of people just sitting and talking you aren’t making any money because you aren’t flipping tables I don’t waitress anymore but just wanted to comment on it

as a former restaurant worker, these families are my worst nightmare
Eat up most of the time on the servers, have a minimal bill and probably don't tip?
Also seen both making lemonade at the table and sharing coffee
100% agreed
Oh I can imagine 😖
The simple fact that such a cheap family is eating out at a diner makes me think that the whole show is fake.
Lol I swore she said, "this barbecue is pretty shit" but she said cheap. I think both are accurate
I wish I could like this comment more than once. Awful, awful barbecue
I didn’t even realize she said “cheap” until I read your comment, so… 😅
Same….🤣
😂😂😂
I thought she said shit too
My buddy (grown ass adult) did that lemonade thing and the waitress charged him for a lemonade on the bill. Made my day.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not saying it didn't happen, but there's no way you have the right to do that as an employee. You ask for a water and it comes with a lemon. it's yours to do with as you please. The sugar is also there for the taking, you're not really regulated on how you can use it. Unless the lemonade sold on the menu is made in EXACTLY THE SAME WAY in the restaurant, the lemonade on the menu is a completely different product than what he made.
@@turntsnaco824 Even if the lemonade on the menu IS made the exact same way, that's not what was ordered.
Fuck him. The customer is always right so long as the customer is actually worth it. The moment that customer brings more harm than good you’re no longer under any obligation to treat him right. If you’re spending good money you have every right to pull that, “I’m the customer,” shit. If your like shoplifting or making a mess with your lemonade science project then your just lucky the place doesn’t toss your ass.
I used to do that in college - but I’d order food with my sugar water! Plus, it really tastes nothing like lemonade. It’s like sugar water with a hint of lemon.
These kids are gonna grow up and blow their paychecks on whatever they want because their parents went WAY overboard with trying to save money.
This happened with me and my sister! She overspends, I fight hoarding tendencies over fear of having to purchase things. Yay! Yay?

Dad gets his beer tho
The whole time they were there I was just hoping they would get one of the kids being like "I am so sorry! I am so sorry!"
I guarantee they never do that to their kids out of the memories of embarrassment.
The whole diner scene is supposed to seem crazy, but after almost 15 years of being a server, I can say everything they did actually isn’t that uncommon. I’m surprised they ordered coffee instead of ordering hot water with lemon and honey to make their own free “tea”
Yeah I remember making “lemonade” all the time as a kid, I thought this was a normal or common thing to do

Reusing empty single-use water bottles more than once or twice, espcially if they are warmed up or even hot is VERY UNHEALTHY! Not just the factor of their being bacterial breeeding grounds if they're not washed without soap, but there is also that those bottles breakdown overtime. Ever wonder why bottled water has an expiration date? It's that plastic breaking down because it won't last forever and will shed materials not meant for consumption... Also hose water is more dangerous as it's a lengthy tube with no real temp-control and not designed in mind for consumption therefore the hose can be plasticy tasting or back to those bacteria breeding grounds.
I actually worked at a restaurant where people tried making there own lemonade. If the waitress saw that, they were told to charge for a soft drink. Especially after Philadelphia started the sugary drink tax. People would be pissed but it is what it is. Also waitresses liked giving that charge cause when they saw that they knew no tip was coming anyway.

For me nothing can beat the episode where the family used only newspaper to wipe and reused one bathtub full of water for the whole family per day, going in matriarchle order until the youngest son had to bathe in the thrice assed up bathwater that was completely brown by that point.
Oh god 🤮
If I recall correctly, the father went first, then mother, and then the kid. If your so poor that you have to share bathwater any true parent would let the kid go first so at least they would be clean. That woman was nuts though, keeping the food in a hole in the ground which was at room temperature. More food would spoil than she would save in electricity. She'd be smart to have a large freezer in the basement and buy in bulk when she found really good deals, but she seemed to have some aversion to electricity in general, walking around with that lamp in the house during the day.
That one should have had child protective services called. I really hope these are actors.
@bill7037 is that the same chick who would bring the light bulb from room to room like they had a 1 bulb per household policy?
@@-Bill. "If I recall correctly, the father went first, then mother, and then the kid."
Wow, that's how families bathed before modern indoor plumbing. The Amish aren't even that primitive anymore.
To be fair making your own butter is really fun and rewarding and it tastes way better than store bought butter. But like the girl said it’s SUPER labor intensive and I wouldn’t try and have a family survive on that.
Also I made it in a glass jar not a water bottle.
She made it with single use half and half packs poured into a 8 year old Poland springs bottle
Yeah fuck that shit. I'm buying the $3 butter. Jesus christ.
My uncle wasn’t so much a cheapskate as much as he was frugal. He’d open a can of ravioli, or soup then he’d put it on the pilot light of his stove and go to work. It was cooked when he got home. He’d open tubes of toothpaste and use the toothpaste he couldn’t squeeze out. He’d only turn the lights on in his house f he had company and he’d hurry the visitors out. He left his siblings around $475,000.
You sound proud of your uncle, but this just sounds sad to me. His day-to-day seems like it was stressful
He wasted energy cooking it? I just eat it right out the can no heat just open and eat.

"I refill the disposable bottles of water"
...now who's gonna tell him that you can buy refillable ones from the dollar store
And who’s gonna tell them that the nail polish he’s putting on the cap is gonna be dangerous if ingested
@twineberry the tiny flakes of dried nail polish you may ingest from using those bottles is not "dangerous". Women have been chewing their painted nails or scraping them with their teeth (nervousness, irritation, annoyance, etc) for many, many decades and none has suffered any illness due to this. Don't be a ridiculous alarmist over something so absolutely miniscule. Jfc.
Then he couldn’t act like they are new lol
The absolute best part is when he opens the fridge and there's nothing but unlabeled bottles and then a CASE OF BUD LIGHT! LMAO, can't cheap out on the beer
Clearly you can, cause he bought bud light
What do you mean, bud light is garbage lmao. It's like 75 cents a can. That's pretty cheap.
@@beepbeeplettuce5890 atleast he didnt buy pbr, that shit is cheaper than bud light
I think you missed the part that he was splitting one beer into 4 bottles and filling the rest with God damn hose water
the guy in the last story should be ashamed for only allowing his children to open the fridge once per day. what are they to do if they get hungry after they've opened it once already? they are growing children. when you have a fridge visibly full of food (and apparently a second one that you store all your hose water in) but then choose to limit your child's access to it seems like it's bordering on neglectful parenting.
I own a car wash business and I collect the coins from my vacuums when I clean them out. Usually adds up to about $250-350 a year. We usually use it for an employee day type thing 😂
Better than throwing it away. I figure it's easy enough to filter from the trash. I probably wouldn't tell the employees where the money comes from unless they already know.

The 24 second shot clock on the fridge had me just rolling around laughing, as a former basketball player I can just imagine the buzzer sounding and the dad calling a turnover on anything you grabbed for a shot clock violation 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That's actually a good idea. People leave the fridge open for far too long. I'm going to have to start docking allowances
Oh man… the diner scene unlocked some childhood trauma. Our big meal out like 1x a month was taco bell, and i honestly didnt know they had other food items except hard and soft tacos bc thats all we were allowed to order. I think they were 49c each. We were all given a choice of 2 or 3, hard or soft. Then they had all 6 of us kids sit down and share a single small cup of soda. Literally up and down and up and down to soda machine. Employees giving us some serious side eye.
So my parents fed 6 kids for about 10 bucks total. About 18 tacos at 49c and a small cup of soda was like 69c
30+ years later… still embarrasses me!
6 kids is an insane amount of kids to feed on the day to day.
Here’s a thought: don’t pop out four kids. And making lemonade, gross. But, when I was a server, people came in and asked for lots of creamer and a water. They poured the creamer in their free water. Yum. *blech* We finally had to charge for ridiculous amounts of lemon and creamers.
I deep dived this family its fake. mom in 2013 bought the daughter and her matching Louis Vuitton bags, oldest daughter drove a new BMW in high school, the mom is a model and was wearing luxury items in oldest daughters old ig posts from prior to the episode. and they parents drive a Mercedes not an Infiniti like in the show. mom was a model and actress. the children are all actors and models. the youngest son just bought a Yuris in cash, they are family friends with wiz khalifa. so its safe to say this episode is fake lol
Well it's good to see dad takes care of himself, the whole bottom shelf full of keystone light... he has to drink to even think what he is doing is remotely sane
Buys an Infiniti for himself while his family lives in squalor lol
Dad keeps his porno in the fridge behind all that shit. No way anyone can dig to the back before the timer goes off
He's probably giving the KS light to his kids, it's basically hose water, so it's not like they'd know the difference.

I remember the episode where the wife left the dad over being cheap and she met up with him to talk at a cafe. He refused to order anything.. then when a random customer left at a different table, he walked over and ATE THEIR SCRAPS! 😂 it was disgusting man
As a carwash owner. People do this all the time. If no one is there people will break the locks and dig through the vacuum trash for money or jewelry. Happens constantly
This is a form of child abuse. What a disgusting thing to teach your kids. This Man has no pride to go to a dinner and do this. He should be ashamed of himself. Disgusting is the only word that comes to mind.
Extreme cheapskates is probably my favorite thing to hate to watch. You’re an extremely funny guy and you make really good videos.
I honestly would stop going out to eat (or out to do anything) with my parents if they were like this, that behaviour would infuriate me and make me so embarrassed
That homemade lemonade slaps, all I’m gonna say. I used to live off that shit in rehab and it beats a lot of store bought lemonade. That being said I didn’t have access to a phone let alone a grocery store so beggars can’t be choosers.
Imagine inviting your neighbors over to a party, and then disrespecting their time and appetite by cooking them half of a meal in a garden pot with a fire started by sticks and newspaper clippings. This is why this show can't be real. Like what the actual...
To his credit he used fresh beef as opposed to the cheapest option which is frozen patties. And his burgers looked pretty good.
THIS is why restaurants charge for extra condiments and such.
It seems odd but for non-chain restaurants things like lemons can really add up 😬
Edit; ive worked with servers who 100% charged for lemonade if someone asked for a horde of lemons and all the tables sugar - honestly works out to costing the business more to allow customers to do this 😬
That's why I prefer burger King over McDonald's. Mcdicks charges like 30 cents for a piece of lettuce.
At BK if you ask for "heavy all" they add extra lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and condiments for zero charge.
@@xavierrenegadeangel1356 unfortunately many BKs near me are closing - while mcdonalds holds steady; while obviously theres much more at play than charging for extras; however from a restaurant management POV i do understand the need for the charges - despite how aggravating it can feel
I used to do that just because it was way better than whatever fake lemonade they served, and i could make it less sweet.
@alexlibby5087 It will be a sad day for sure when BK becomes extinct. They're leagues above Mickey D's IMO. No contest.
Lower prices, less stingy about extras, larger portions, better tasting (that one is subjective).
I charge for condiments especially when they ask after I've swiped their card. Nah you're gonna be charging your card for those 30 cents

My partner and I watch every episode together the day it goes up. For the record Gen X is exactly "proud" of drinking from the hose.... We just didn't have a choice.
I'm Gen Y. We had it slightly better at home: There was a big square plastic washing sink in our basement that we could get water from. Probably not so healthy, but it was like 5 feet from the back door compared to the 50 foot trek across the basement, upstairs to the kitchen, and back then again, so we rolled with it.
Grandma's house was the good shit, though. Big old slightly oxidized tap water.
I miss those days. The mineral-encrusted hose water was probably safer than the microplastic-infused bottled water and the often-contaminated tap water we get today.

I used to do that too. But it was only late nights to wash the dirt off the car so my parents didn't know I'd gone offroading.
That's apparently really bad for the finish of a car. Not to mention it inconveniences people who are actually trying to clean their windshields when the water is dirt black because of people cleaning their entire cars.
@@FrenkTheJoy everyone tried telling her that but she didnt listen ppl who r like that r inconsiderate sometimes
I work 3rd shift(10:30pm-6:30am) at a gas station and so many people do that that it's not even weird to me anymore honestly. I see about 5-6 people a week doing it. I only thought it was weird the first few times.
...I also thought it was weird when one woman opened the hood of her car and used the squeegee underneath the hood of her car.
@@tigerlilly4712 I got stuck in the mud once, boyfriend got me out but both car and boyfriend got caked in mud. At 4am I got home and hosed down the car in a panic because dad would kill me if he knew. Years later I admitted to my mom that it happened and she laughed, admitting she did the same thing years earlier. He would've lectured us about taking care of the cars and not taking them places that weren't car friendly. Probably because he didn't want to buy a replacement which is fair.
The thing that sucks about Chris' videos is that they aren't longer 😭

loved how you started this video - you are awesome!!!
My grandma would take me and the other grandkids to car washes and we would walk around in order to look for dropped change on the ground. She also dumpster dives still at over 80 years old. Yet she still gives us like $200 for bdays and christmas lol. I love my grandma!
My great grandma was like that apparently she was traumatized for life by the great depression despite having close to a million dollars in her old age
My dad was kinda of an extreme cheapskate My mom hated when we were alone with him on the weekend cuz he didn't cook so he'd take us to eat breakfast ...which were just a bunch of free samples at Costco 😅 and if we were still hungry after then maybe we could have a hot dog at food court after
Pfttt XD hahahahahahahaha 😆
We make butter at home with a Tupperware in much the same way, it's a good way to use up whipping cream that is close to expiring! It's a great way to keep kids busy in cooking camp.
Doing it with COFFEE CREAMERS TAKEN FROM DINERS is a whole other story 😂
Right after the first clip aired I was with my stepdaughter at a car wash. After offering to vacuum out her car, she had no clue what was in store. The vacuum bin was unlocked, so I opened it up and started digging. Made out with about $10 in change and a couple of ear rings.
Another awesome video. Thank you
My father in law was a co worker with Kate Hashimoto who was a CPA in NY. One of the more bizarre extreme cheapskates vids I’ve seen. The backlash after it aired was fairly high. Would love you see you cover that one.
Sharing coffee at a diner baffled me the most. Most diners I've been to don't charge you for plain black hot coffee if you're also ordering food, it's just like.. Part of the diner experience, and it's not like they lose money making hot coffee.
Where do you live? Like general area. I've never NOT been charged for coffee.
@@MegidolErin I live in the state with the most diners in the US.
@@Nyiddle That must be nice. I wish there were more diners where I am, and that they gave me free coffee. Oh well, it's not like it's expensive, and I'm no extreme cheapskate lmao
There are something that i think are fine like the grill setup is fine cause he’s using a clean fuel and he obviously understands he needs the sand to stop the pot from exploding from heat
And the butter is also fine because the girl actually likes it and it’s a cool skill to know how to do
Your commentary is hilarious!! Thank you for the entertaining uploads. I’m glad I subscribed 😊
Hey Chris; your comedic timing has improved so much since I first started watching your videos. I love the sharp quip evolution
waiting for your new uploads makes me Re-watch your old vids, lucky for me they are all great
The single funniest part of this whole show is the irony of them being “extreme cheapskates” yet at 1:25 you catch a glimpse of the mom’s Louis Vuitton neverfull, which currently sells for $2,000 😂😂😂
Really enjoy your content. Glad to see you uploading. Also I'm concerned about the younger son and the eventual snap he's going to have from living this life.
Yeah hopefully these are actors because the sons in this video looked miserable and said nothing
These videos make me giggle, been super depressed so appreciate the giggles this guy gives me
This randomly came up in my feed and wow, the thumbnail was no lie. Omg, best laugh I’ve had all week.
Growing up my mother had a hole in her hand and to counter that my dad was a very serious scrimper and would rather not pay for a holiday since the assumption was that my mom would blow through another part of the budget that wasn't meant to be touched and he'd have to counteract that to keep the train from derailing. So now as an adult I both love and hate spending money and it comes in moods. Sometimes I think its totally reasonable to spend $400 on perfumed deodorants and another time I will cook for 40 minutes and clean 30 minutes after that to save myself $4. This kind of behaviour stays with the next generation.
Sweet.
Thank you as always bro 🤘
Love your content, glad your rising in popularity!
I remember one time when I was a child, my dad had a best friend(?) who would say stuff that'd fit in this show like "we'll go to mc. donalds and buy one cheese burger, and each person will take a bite of the same burger, or buy one bag of chips, and pass around the bag, etc.
I love watching Chris, he makes my day like today I needed a good laugh and I can always count on his content, btw they didn’t have chairs either to enjoy their cookout, just a bench 😂
Great cringe tv. Dishwasher lasagna lady, trash popcorn guy, and roadkill eating family are some of the best episodes
That “generational wealth” joke has me 💀💀💀
I love how the best thing about this tlc episode is the homemade butter
Dude, I just discovered your channel yesterday. Binging the shit out of it today. Definitely subscribed, love your sense of humor.
Love your content Chris! It’s the highlight of my day, thanks for the laughs!!
You were funny af in this video. I like the change up, there’s a little more banter.
2:17 That was good spanish. I thought the clip was dubbed lol
The little eleven year old girl seemed optimistic about things, so that's good...👌🏼 She seemed very sensible and mature...💯✔️ I trust in her judgment...👍🏼
Chris James keeps me laughing the entire video 😭😭😭 I never get tired of these!
Currently on a 90 Day Fiancé Cringe Binge, will be good to take a break to dive into some cheapskate binge. Thanks Chris you the man
Really appreciated your transition to the ad haha made me laugh
When I was in foster care, we used to go dumpster diving every week and that was probably the highlight of the week. We'd find some pretty crazy stuff. I found a camera and sold it for $250 to some hipster taking a photography class in college.
Extreme Cheapskates is just another one of those unique shows in American television. Where they get to show the entire world’s audience that how cheap they really are.
Foreigners not adapting to American culture
I didn't know the entire world watched this one show.
I wonder how much people get paid to be on this show. If they're as cheap as they're portrayed, I imagine it's like 5 bucks. Worth it for being a national embarrassment.
Well yea, that's the point of the show, hence the title 🤣
One of my favorite shows! There was a new version last year that was more continuing episodes rather than each episode being its own story and even featured a family from this show!
was it called extreme cheapskates as well?
Why do I want to watch this new version so suddenly ??
@@catsoup69 So Freakin Cheap, it's so good!
Omg yes its so good
