You mentioned taking pictures of you penguins, I take pictures of toys, and dolls etc... people give wired looks too, I ignore them. As I sell some of the pictures for $100- to $500- each.
We keep calling it OCD, but I don't think it's that, necessarily. It's attention to detail. Like noticing that while the body is solid, the frame is rusted, and needs to be remedied before the truck is like new.
Because it was set up to run on real gasoline not government corn whiskey gas( it has less heat value). Search on internet, you're usually not far from a gas station that sells real gas. More power, better MPG.
My sister passed away in her 40's. Her 71 Malibu was one of the first cars I restored and drove to work until 2011. Still have it. Keep the cars you want! No explanation necessary! Safe journey!
Grandmothers are special. My grandmother taught me how to fish using a cane pole, taught me how to shoot a gun, how to play poker, and showed me a love and encouragement that I had never experienced. That is a beautiful truck and I'm sure you will get many offers on it. I hope you honor your Grams by not selling it or even modifying it.
They are great trucks! The old ones are legendary hence I bought a brand new '19 Ranger XLT FX4 . Its been flawless & ultra plush w/ lots off rd tech .
My Dad always kept an old early 50's Chevrolet truck on the farm to use to haul hay, gravel, dirt, etc. 4 speed with a granny gear. I started driving when I was 9 years old, could barely reach the pedals or see over the steering wheel.. My parents would go to my grandmothers for Sunday dinner, I would stay home and a friend of mine and I would "steal" the truck and drive it everywhere. The ignition switch could be turned to the on position with any key or a knife. 11 years old and driving down the highway running off the road, knocking down mailboxes and sometimes hitting parked cars. Never too hard though. I never got pulled by the cops during these escapades until I got my license. Then the first week I had my license I got tickets on three separate occasions! Great memories are made in the vehicle you learned to drive in. It is a beautiful truck, I hope you keep it.
You got make up tickets when you got your license. You had some cool cops in your town, if you got tickets before 16 (or whatever license age was) it might have messed up your record.
Sarah, those of us who know cars, know that a car or truck is extra-special when it has a connection to a loved one. You are luckier than I, as you have the chance to restore your Gram's truck. My grandfather sold my grandma's 1985 Jeep J10 full-size 4×4, before I had a chance to make an offer on it. Sad as that is, I hope you are able to restore the Ranger, and I know that when you're done, your Grams would be proud of you.
I've seen this on old folks vehicles before. So many of them did fantastic jobs of washing their cars regularly and always keeping the road grime off, unfortunately that doesn't mean they did the same with their undercarriage. Just because you took the salt off the body doesn't mean it's not still covering your frame. That's how you get these old cars with great bodies and rotten chassis
I am so glad you got the Ranger. Not only will you have all the fond memories of your youth and time with your Grandma around it; you have the wonderful chance to write your own chapters into its history. Like everyone else here, I am looking forward to learning more about the truck and its story. Maybe it's just coincidence, but Lindsey Stirling just released an acoustic version of her latest song. I think it fits your thoughts and memories perfectly. I hope you like it. Lindsey Stirling - Lose You Now feat. Mako (Acoustic) - UA-cam
7:12 - those are Rosehip berries, Sarah! Thanks for a great video and for showing love and respect for your grandma! You are a fantastic granddaughter!
wow nice! I had an old ranger and once I saw it was coming back in 2019 I had to get one. I love my 19' ranger and will be road trippin from Chicago to Portland Oregon this summer.
I had a 1995 Ranger extended cab, gave it to my Dad when I bought a full size pickup, it never got better than 25 miles per gallon. Your Grandmother's truck will be a good project to honor her with.. When you passed through Dayton, Ohio you were literally 30 miles from my hometown. Glad to see Charlie traveling along with you.....
Excellent project Sarah, Grandma be very proud!! Charlie is right, get clean frame and rebuild, drop super clean Grandma truck body onto it. Run forever, you and Grandma!! Sweet!!
Are you sure you dont want a Hillbilly Off Road Mobile Sarah?.....but seriously, that is a Super Clean well cared for '94 Ranger. Awesome. And it was your GMA's. Even more Awesome. That whole Trip is Super Cool. You will make it back to the desert just fine. 🌡🌞
I would do just about anything to retrieve the 1965 Chevy C10 pickup my Dad taught me how to drive in. Three on the tree, wood bed, no seat belts, and gas tank right behind your seat - best truck ever! So no need to explain, enjoy that wonderful truck!
I didn't know you were from New Hampshire. Boston here.. its your Grams if I had my grams car still I would keep it in a box. Happy to see you get to keep it forever and make it better for yourself.
I lived in Indiana for 35 years, during the winter months the sky and the roads are the same color of depressing grey. I escaped and now it's all NC beaches for me!
I love how your heart shows in everything you do, Sarah. The information you share about cars is always great, but many of us watch your videos for so much more than car info. Your Gram would be very proud and happy to see what you're going to do with her truck, and to see all the success you've achieved. Grateful to be in your fan club....
Sarah, I get it. 55 year old truck sitting in my garage right now that my Grandpa bought brand new and gave to me when I was about 14. Haven't fired her up for the season yet, still winterized. I love driving that old truck and remember riding in her with Grandpa. My wife and I say "Home is where Ole Red is." My user name reflects my love for that truck.
Great vid! I had a darker green colored '92 Ford Ranger, with the same tonneau top on the bed. I bought it when I was a PFC/E-3, and it was my first manual pickup/vehicle. It survived LA, ,CO and FL, before being sold in '96. Now 25 years later and living in north Texas, I actually miss it! Enjoy and cherish it!
Sarah; I purchased my grandpa's 1940 Ford Deluxe from him for $100 back in 1968. Over the years it has received a complete body off restoration. I will own it till the day I die. Great memories in Grandfather 40 Ford. Have a safe trip !!!
The first truck I bought out of college was a '90 Ford Ranger. V6, regular cab, manual, long bed. Very similar to that one. I loved that thing, we went through many good and bad times in that truck. Thanks for bringing back those memories.
That's so amazing that you still have a vehicle that means so much to you. Double amazing that it's in such impeccable shape! And you get to help it start a new chapter of its life. Congrats!
Hey Sarah, all throughout this video, from the very first minutes of it, the feeling that i got was "this is the best video that you ever made". And i don´t know why, because at least from the viewer perspective, i can´t identify an obvious reason for that to be true. But that´s what it felt to me.
Maaan the ranger brings back memories! I know the struggle! Im 6'7"!!! Had a 98' single cab 5 speed Ranger! It was a beast! Had over 550,000mi on it and ran like a top, up until i hit a black horse at 5am, on the way to work and totaled it! It went threw 5 spark plug changes, 5 fuel filters, 2 clutches, 2 fuel pumps and had to hollow out the cats after 100,000mi. Never set any O2 codes and allways passed all the state emission tests too! LoL
This will make a great shop truck....every garage needs a reliable truck for transporting parts, etc... All you need now is a Sarah-n-Tuned logo on the side.
Come to Montréal, we sometimes don't even have lines on the roads, and good forbid you don't speak fluent French and already know exactly where you're going....
I can understand why you want to save your grandmas truck. I agree with Charlie find another frame get it all fixed up and swap the bed and body onto it. You will have a memento of your grandma for life.
You came through little old CT! 7:35 you were passing by Vernon CT, where the famous Rein's Deli is. 7:37 Hartford... keep on moving... 7:39 Bought my car at the Toyota Dealership about 1/2 a mile after this tunnel on the left.
Just discovered your Channel today. I've been searching Ford Ranger UA-cams the last while since I'm inheriting a 2011 Ford Ranger in another month. My Dad's. He's turning 90 next month and doesn't want to drive it anymore. I'm loving your videos! Great style and quality. I particularly like this road trip journey. We'll be doing something similar next month too, just not as long. Going from Kelowna British Columbia, Canada to Regina Saskatchewan, Canada. That's only about a 1000 miles. Looking forward to enjoying the rest of your Ranger videos. My condolences for your Granny.
Man, salt kills.. its amazing she was able to keep the body as clean as she did. Definitely see where you get your cleanliness OCD from. My F250 is a 94, spent its entire life in SC and its body is about on par with your Ranger. Definitely in for operation Ranger restoration. :D
I once worked on a ranger that had rust on most of the cab mounts, like the chassis would go one way and the cab would go the other way. It was terrible even by the standards of nebraska farm truck rust. I'm glad yours has a good home, if anybody can keep it in good shape it's you! Drive safe, unless you guys are already home in which case I'm glad you made it.
I live in Phx and I’m driving my Grandpas V6 powered 99 F-150 that lived in Missouri all its life.and Im doing want it can to keep it running. You never need a excuse to keep it on the road other then you love it. Cover up the rust on the frame with POR-15
That's awesome. Glad you're getting a chance to have something that holds such sentimental value as one of your projects. I know you'll treat it right and restore it properly
We, your fans, thank your grandma very much for helping to fuel the fire of desire you have for vehicles. What a great truck to learn to drive in, and a manual. (So many can no longer drive them, nor want to- shame) Also a great color: Calypso Green Clearcoat Metallic. I had a 94 club cab in the same color. With it's 4 cyl engine, and manual trans, it was pretty gutless, it was a great truck and fun to drive though. (Unless your drive home was totally uphill, as mine was, and I had to keep shifting down to keep it in the power band) I hope your Road Trip will be full of fun and fully reliable all the way back to the AZ Sun.
looking at how your grandma took care of her pick up truck you can see where the attention to detail and the OCD comes from
You mentioned taking pictures of you penguins, I take pictures of toys, and dolls etc... people give wired looks too, I ignore them. As I sell some of the pictures for $100- to $500- each.

@@bongodave13 yes, it's called DO = detail-oriented.
I can't imagine anyone asking why fix it up. This isn't a just a vehicle, it's a link to her grandmother and fixing it up is a way to honor that
Is it still running cold, goddammit!
Because it was set up to run on real gasoline not government corn whiskey gas( it has less heat value).
Search on internet, you're usually not far from a gas station that sells real gas.

As a non American I'm appreciating the map for reference as you drive across the country.

All the best car stories have this kind of family connection. Congratulations on the start of a great new adventure.

Also it's the east coast, very rare to see a nice driver out here haha
So proud to give your comment the first like. Just watched a couple of your early videos an hour ago to get my mind off of things.
Nice of Charlie to keep you company on such a long trip. Safe travels!
Unless they shared a hotel room the whole way.
@@hollowpoint357sw4 LOL. Yeah, every male viewer on here is feeling really sorry for Charlie having to endure this trip.

if you are amusing yourself it is never psychotic. It's eccentric. Beautiful truck.
