As many have pointed out, the final line seems to be a dig at Tony Khan, who as many voices have pointed out seems to be more concerned with making friends than making money.
didn't see it that way. I think he was referring to rollins and the guys who don't want him there saying they can do business even if they're not friends but to each his own
My boy and I felt it was that way also. All Friends Wrestling and the elite is a modern version of the Klik. Punk was doomed the day he was hired there because the EVP’s were buddy buddy with Cabana and have the biggest dirtsheets writer on their speed dial
I think there is a line they are skipping over. When Punk said, "Not because it isn't true, but because I'm afraid of how true it is. Im home." I take that as he really didn't want to believe it, but after working somewhere else, he realized the WWE is the place he should be. That the grass wasn't greener on the other side like he thought it would be. I might be totally wrong, but that's how I broke it down.
3:39 the reason I liked the line is because all night WWE told the audience this guy is Polarizing and controversial. So I think the next year of build is gonna be around the question “has Punk really changed”. He did this great babyface promo then finishes it with a little heel period. So he’s shows both sides early.
I love it aswell, CM Punk is at his best as a tweener. He has to much ambition to be a full on babyface, but at the same time having so much heart to be a full blown heel. Also, people missed out that he said that line after he mentioned that there were people who didn't like him there, who were afraid that he set the bar to high.
I liked the line at the end. It cast doubt as to Punk's true intentions in WWE and created intrigue going forward. It could also be interpreted as him wanting to make money not just for himself but for the company, which is something AEW wasn't willing to do with him and the Elite.
I took it as the shot everyone was waiting for against aew. Imo people are way over analyzing those last two things he said and taking it way too personally 😂
@@Wubbit_Reacts I thought that, too. AEW is know by some as All Friends Wrestling. As for the over-analyzing of Punk's comments, WWE and Punk must be loving this, because it's keeping them in everyone's minds and conversations.
Both of what you two said is true, it creates intrigue going forward, could be a shot at AEW or guys in the back, while also saying “this is business” which is what ppl were saying about him, WWE wouldn’t take him back if it’s not what’s best for business, at AEW personal things got in the way of business, some wrestlers at AEW are taking Tony Khan while pretending it’s for business but constantly act contrary to that and like they’re in a click where mostly friends benefit and business be damned if my friends don’t like you or feel you act in a way they don’t like bc of something they perceived you did years ago that may not be true.. I personally think the line was perfect for all those reasons
The way I took the line wasn't necessary as like you said, him making money but making money as a whole for the business. Kind of like I'm here to make us all money and kick up business even more. And also as a small shot towards AEW without openly calling them out.
The line at the end works because he just came from a place where who you were friends with determines your spot on the card, at least in the public perception, so by saying that, he's saying he's going to be bigger than AEW ever could be and he's going to do it without having to be friends with any EVP's.
Yep, I didn't think it contradicted either because he wasn't saying he was going to be a dick to everyone, he was just saying he was there for business first.
Yea, I think that was the one line that was directed at the elite and AEW. He didn't say "I am here for the paycheck" nor he said "I am here to make myself money". What he meant was, I my opinion, "I am here to make good business, which leads to making money in general, the company and everyone involve. If we are friends cool, if we are not, cool, if we became friends with someone... cool, the main goal is business" where with the elite is... working with your buddies
It’s the Wrestling BUSINESS. Which means what makes the most money? If it means getting a kinda personal or working with someone that you don’t like, you’ll do it. But I think everyone is welcoming him back because it’s a team
Also, it'd be really dumb to not have Cody win the title from Roman at Mania. Punk vs Rollins at Mania makes Rollins' title important. Cody vs Rollins makes it seem like Cody is getting a consolation prize. And Jade versus anybody has no business being the main event of a regular PPV, nevermind any night of Mania.
Punk vs Rollins or Reigns ould be great, think Punk vs Reigns would be a better story cause you can bring up how The Sheild was formed and he didn't want Reigns in the group
@@hbq3000 if i may just Fantasy book for a moment? Rollins dodges Punk as WHC champion. He is fighting champion VS everyone else, but Punk, for him, doesn't deserve a title shot. At least not until he EARNED it. Punk wins the RR, Cody maybe a No. 1. Contenders Elimination Chamber. Punk beats Rollins at WM Night 1, Cody beats ROman on Night 2. Then, either Punk goes to SD or Cody and ROman swap places (so that belts are on both shows) and Roman and Punk start their feud, with Heyman being caught in the middle.
Roman vs Cody and Punk vs Seth is the safest and the logical path HOWEVER lets have some fun with this. Punk faces Roman (dont care about winning RR or not), Paul turns on Roman, Punk becomes the heel, something he flourishes at, Roman becomes baby face. Roman takes his break (not sure from what but he wants it) and the Bloodline story is over. And Punk goes on as a heel... On to Cody... things changes... you are not the number one guy anymore... sorry, the money maker is here and his name is not Cody and is not Jay. It's the only guy that took N1 merch sales from Cena back in the day. If WWE desides that Punk is the way to go with Roman... sorry kid, your story doesnt matter. My personal wish is Punk and Roman never to face. Punk needs to be in the ring with great wrestlers to protect him, I am not saying that Roman is unsafe nor dangerous... but its better for Punk to be in the ring with proven 100% workers to max his value and keep him healthy. With Punk winning the title from Roman and aligning with Paul, IF he did get injured you still have Hayman driving the promos week to week while he is healing
I’m surprised 3 guys so into the industry just don’t get it. CM Punks goal may have been a Wrestlemania main event but the real reason the frustration came was because he felt like he deserved it. Him being ‘best in the world’ at that time wasn’t just a gimmick, he truely felt there was no one better than him in any measurable way and he held the WWE Championship for so long, even coming up against guys he didn’t want to work with and doing it while injured. CM Punk felt he deserved that Wrestlemania main event and I for one can’t argue against that.
CM Punk’s issue was that he was frustrated with the same people getting the main event spot of the PPVs, besides the wrestlers that are on the show full time. You can’t get over as a main event player if you’re not in the main event or even given the opportunity to be in the main event. If you look at the landscape of the main event between 2010-2014 Only John Cena got the main event spot with in the full time locker room. The other’s were barely part timers. Those individuals were Brock Lesnar, The Rock, and Triple H. That’s where Punk’s frustration came from. Look at WM 28 the WWE championship wasn’t the last match on the card. It used to be years ago that the WWE championship goes on last regardless it brought credibility to the championship to be put on that pedestal. Like WM 18, yes Rock&Hogan was the quote on quote true main event, but the WWE Championship still went on last because the Championship always goes on last. Which is why we got Chris Jericho VS Triple H. WM 28 was Rock VS Cena, but it shouldn’t have gone on last CM Punk vs Chris Jericho was the Championship match and deserved the main event. The problem is that Vince only cared about his guys, his muscle guy’s getting the main event spot. He didn’t care or have faith in the full time main roster to headline and that started his downfall of not creating a stacked full time main event roster. WM 29 was RockVSCena and it was for the Championship so it went on last again which made the moniker “Once In A Lifetime” from the previous year redundant. CM Punk vs Undertaker was the only thing memorable about that Wrestlemania. CM Punk’s matches for both WM 28-29 were better than both Rock&Cena’s match. You can’t create the next generation of main event players if you are only giving it to the part timers and John Cena at that is what Vince did. Which made the audience not care. You never had part timers take the main event spot during the attitude era and the ruthless aggression era. Vince never liked the smaller guy’s getting over. He pretends he does, but he doesn’t. The only wrestlers he had an exception to was Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels back in the day. Punk’s frustration was Vince McMahon’s boys getting all the spots and his out of touch mindset. During CM Punk’s time as Champion the main event picture if booked properly could have been the likes of. Dolph Ziggler Daniel Bryan Sheamus The Miz R-Truth Kofi Kingston These men could’ve been pushed to the moon, but during that time most were pushed as mid card, and if they won the title then only held it once, twice if lucky and then pushed down the card again. Also the credibility of the Intercontinental Championship was wasted during that time, because it used to be that, that title was a stepping stone to the main event spot that led to the WWE Championship. Vince stopped doing that like 15 years ago starting in like 2009.
It was a nice feeling and reminded me of old Wrestling days before we knew everything through Internet before it even happened. It is so rare these days that this return of CM PUNK was so awesome. I love how Bully is able to take the perspective of others for every topic. I wish more people were able to do that, especially online. I want a deep story line with Roman and Heyman and Punk. There is a lot more to tell and make out of than with Seth.
Punk VS Roman come on guys he’s coming in hot he’s coming in the baby face so wh@ your going to wait another year for the next Wrestlemania to have it no!!!! They have lighting in a bottle and the time is NOW!!!!!!
I do believe punk saying he’s home. Listen, humans are not simple. We’re often angriest and most upset with people/things when we love and care about them. The heartbreak he felt at WWE, was because he cared. WWE was his true love, his first wife. AEW helped him heal …
Meh, I think it's pretty obvious that the character he's playing right now is supposed to be everything Seth Rollins says he is, a hypocrite. Punk doesn't work as a babyface, he has to be a heel in WWE, and he's setting it up perfectly. He's being a good boy, talking about how he's home and and how people kissed him on the mouth welcoming him back. He showed his hand at the end by saying "I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to make money." What we saw Monday night was an illusion, but the veil will soon be lifted and we'll get the heel Punk we love to hate.
I doubt it only because they are going to eventually going to want to have Roman vs Punk in 2024 or 2025 at WrestleMania, and someone has to be the Babyface.
I don’t usually do this but I have to! This was by far the best wrestling podcast episode of our time. I’m a big wrestling fan and never watched this podcast before but you definitely have a new fan of that counts for anything. Thank you guys it’s been a pleasure listening while I work from home playing daddy daycare aswell.
I think that last line was a shot at AEW, that the Bucks and Omega wouldn't do buisness after the backstage fight. I think Punk realized the grass always looks greener
The money comment was a snide hit on AEW. Ppl call it “all friends wrestling “. The big thing with AEW was that everyone was friends and it was not about doing what’s best for business but to not hurt feelings.
24:58 that exact point is probably what the issue was in AEW. There was The Elite they are great, but Punk was the star. Hopefully that realization is why Punk was able to come back to WWE
He started with a Brett Hart line & closed with a Scott Hall line. I’m surprised none of you guys picked up on that. It was intentional, the tone he wanted, & planting seeds to grow over time. HHH has demonstrated a commitment to long term storytelling & this lets him do the face antihero thing until they want to turn him heel.
Punk IS a heel now in WWE. He already told us he "remembered who he was." And who was Punk long ago in ROH? A Badass anti hero heel. I am looking forward to watching him him show Roman who the better heel is. Roman is NOT on Punks heel level and that right there is what I believe Punk was going for in his raw promo
The promo was two-faced on purpose. Let's not forget what Seth said earlier on the show, he called Punk a hypocrite. Let's also not forget another line from Punk. "I'm here take everything I want from this place" CM Punk is Mr. Anti-Establishment, this will all lead to him dropping the facade and we get back the Punk that hates the establishment. And that's the Punk "we" enjoy the most.
With the last line in Punk's promo, I think he was talking to the people who had an issue with him, and just as a general statement. Like, when he said "I'm not here to make friends", I think he's saying that he's not here to win anyone over that already dislikes him, he's here to rake in the fat stacks.
I think this promo was fantastic if you picked up on what he was doing. Him coming off as a hypocrite by saying "Im not here to make friends, im here to make money" immediately after kissing the fans asses and talking about how its been nothing but love and hugs was kind of the point. He's being a disingenuous hypocrite putting on a good guy facade and that last little line when he put the mic down was the real him. I think thats kind of what his character is going to be going forward.
I dont know I think it was a shot at AEW. "Im here to make money" is basically "I'm here to do business". It might be a shot at the Bucks and Omega. After their backstage spat the Bucks and Omega refused on multiple occasions to meet with Punk to hash things out, when the best thing for business would have been Punk feuding with the Elite. They let childish Problems get in the way of making money.
@@marcespinoza6068exactly! That’s and “the most ‘feared’ man in the industry” line was a shot at Khan/AEW Plus, according to reports was that his time was supposed to be around 15 mins but, timing issues with Orton/Dom match is what makes the promo “less than” and forced.
This is probably the best 1hr video of Busted Open ever. My 9 year old son was sitting here and watched the last 45 minutes with me and he was so excited about all the scenarios brought up, watching that gleam in his eyes and excitement come over him just got me so amped up for the next 4 months til Mania
Is it possible when punk said, "I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to make money" he was teasing Seth Rollins? That actually goes back to a promo Triple H did with Seth when he said, "If you ain't making enemies, you aren't making money" I could be reaching there, but it seems logical with the Seth/Punk rivalry brewing.
When he was dissing all the scared wrestlers and said "he's not here to make friends,he's here to make money" ,lines were towards people like Seth(who didn't like him returning) I don't think he was dissing his friends he already has( I think its better way to say it is he's not here to make anymore new friends)
One of my favorite wrestlemania main events ever is Triple H, Benoit, & Shawn Michaels. Wouldn’t mind seeing Reins, Cody, & Punk. Rollins & Punk however is big time money & something no one remembers here is Punk had The Shield with him. Reigns & Punk storyline is there in many ways outside of Paul
I think they're looking at it wrong. I think that Punk was sending messages in BOTH Promos. The AEW Promo was him really getting closure, and trying to prove a point to AEW, and WWE. Same thing with this Promo, but he's sending different Points to each Company. I believe he's trying to send the message to WWE that he has changed his way of thinking, and is willing to play Ball, as long as he's respected. I think that last shot was aimed at certain people in AEW.
@@riffcrypt8438 I thought knight was a red hot face in route to a wrestlemania main event spot. Maybe Punk or Orton have a heel turn coming because the wwe is face heavy. Mega main event stars all at once is huge.
Shoutout to Dave for the Notsam shirt, two peas in a wrestling pod. This is one of the best clips posted yet, three professional fans laying out the next phase of WWE's new golden era, very enjoyable.
I think we're probably going to get Roman vs. Punk at Summerslam 2024 whether Roman loses the Title at Mania or not. By that point, I think from a creative perspective I'd already have Jimmy walk away and maybe try to reconcile with his brother on RAW, assuming they have their WM Match at 40, then Jimmy leaving causes Roman to go a little harder on Solo, causing Solo to leave. So by that point, Heyman is the only one left with Roman and they play up the same thing they did with Brock but crank it up a few levels and this time, Heyman turns on Roman to help Punk win, rejoining Punk and leaving Roman without a Tribe. That's when Roman goes away for awhile, maybe a year but when he comes back, he's obviously no longer the Tribal Chief since he doesn't have a Tribe but a new Heel character as he spends that year reinventing himself and coming up with a new, even more dominant Heel character moving forward.
i still think Seth and Him will be Main event of night 1. I also think the not here to make friends meaning the locker room (i get he said the locker room welcomed him with open arms) so The Fans he still can be back for.
I want to see CM Punk vs LA Knight at Wrestlemania. In the lead up to Mania the promo battles between the two would be awesome and then having Knight go over at Mania will put him in the perfect position to get a World Title.
I would to but it most likely gonna be la knight vs logan paul. As more speculation comes out im starting to think because there saying rollins vs punk at the royal rumble they either going to have a rubber match at mania with them as a build up or a triple threat of roman cody and cm punk and cody would win
Jesus!!! You guys talk about blowing Dave’s mind, YOU BLEW MY MIND!!!! These types of discussions happen with fans on a daily basis and to see pros like Tommy & Bully get into it?🤯
Reigns and punk is the best move. I'm sick of everyone just going along with the most predictable story because we've been conditioned to not like unexpected stories... I want mystery now after years of predictability
Tommy saying The Rock got me thinking of another story. Of course most would think of Rock vs Roman but Punk vs Rock makes sense too. The story is Punk saying “not only did you take away and end my 434 day title reign but even most importantly you also took away my WrestleMania main event, you took away my Spot”. Just throwing out ideas, but man i can’t wait to see how this all plays out. so excited for it all.
I'm honestly just excited about this year's Rumble. Any Rumble that features enough high level stars that you truly can't predict the winner is an amazing Rumble.
man, I don't even watch WWE, but this one podcast episode has me extremely interested in watching again just to see how things play out. Also....I love how they sort of glossed over the fact that Wrestlemania is going to be in Philly this year - which could just add more fuel to the fire.
I was fine with the promo because it's not Punk unleashed yet. We have months before the Rumble and HHH takes his time with stories. Rollins and Punk mentioned eachother but not by name. Next we get direct mention and response. Finally we get face to face and then there's the challenge. I think they'll let the fans decide who the heel is.
Just to pitch an idea : how cool would it be to see Cody finish his story against Punk ? The guy who dropped the Pipebomb against the guy who actually did what the pipebomb said ? The biggest main event on AEW history … but in WWE
That'd be great, but I feel like since they already had Cody lose to Roman in the main event of mania once, anything other than Cody beating Roman in the main event of mania to avenge that loss will leave the story feeling unfinished.
71 millions views on social media is a lot more easier to do than to get 71 million people to watch it live as it happens. Still a very impressive number though in a short amount of time. Not taking anything away from it. I think that’s what most people wait for though, they wait for the upload to UA-cam channel and then watch it. Which is probably one of it not the main reasons why “ratings” haven’t done as well as say 10/15/20 years ago in WWE. You don’t need to sit through 3 hour long shows or 6 hour long PPV’s anymore.
I'd prefer to see Punk vs Roman, they're easily the two biggest stars in the company right now so it's only natural that they'd be paired for WM, but WWE has laid it out pretty thick that Punk's first program will be against Rollins.
Cody needs to finish his story WWE has already invested time and money into Cody… Punk just came out after 10 years plus him vs Rollins will be a much better story because of the Legit hatred Rollins really has for Phil Brooks
@@DannyHuckinsPWyes but them having Cody lose to Roman, it took the lustre and shine off a victory. Agree with Seth making more sense, but this feels again like they shot themselves in the foot (like having Sami losing to Roman because Cody had to have the match, and then not pulling the trigger and ruining it)
I believe the line at the end was towards Seth. He has his friends backstage already. He doesn't need to make more friends, he wants to do business, make money and a rivalry with Seth is that, they don't gotta be friends, they just gotta do business and make money out of the probable real heat they got. Pluss the whole AEW thing plays into that too.
@ehi80 Yeah lol idk how people can miss that! It's so obvious dude. Look at Shawn and Bret, real life heat, they made money out of it, Edge and Matt, real life heat, made money out of it. It's not the first time it's been done, it's good business lol something that the guys in AEW didn't understood and just let go of the guy instead of taking advantage of the situation 🤣 People gotta learn. When it comes to work, work comes first, friendships come later lol I thought that was a Universally known thing haha
I interpreted the last line being directed to Rollins/Reigns and McEntire. I think he was referring to them right before when he said "well, almost everybody is happy to see me" and AEW.
CM Punk's "I'm not here to make friends I am here to make money" was a shot at The Young Bucks, AEW, TK and Kenny Omega. All Friends Wrestling is a known meme of AEW. CM Punk is stating he's there to work not to do drama. Smart man and move.
I understand where Bully is coming from saying the promo was safe but I think the promo was crafted intelligently. I know Punk is smart with his words and the intension of his words so I think the proper term to describe the promo was "calculated".
But the fact that he said he is scared how true those two words “I’m home” actually are lends perfectly to his delivery, the context and his demeanor I’m the promo. If you listen in it’s entirety it makes more sense
I take the "I'm not here to make friends" line as being like "if you're cool with me that's cool, but if you want to fuck with me I'll fuck with you." But I think that's for storyline purposes to help set up the Seth feud and stuff like that. He alluded to people being unhappy immediately after the bit about hugs and kisses
You know I got to go with what Tommy is saying here because CM Punk was truly the very first Paul Heyman guy. So what if some of the hurt from his WWE past has to do with that betrayal in the first place? I think Punk vs Reigns would be huge and it should end with Paul finally screwing Reigns and going with Punk
Coming back to wrestling made him fall back in love with it. Now there’s No Vince McMahon. And a lighter schedule. No children in the back. He will flourish
100% agree with the punk, lesnar and reigns staredown, I'm hoping it's clearly reigns vs punk or lesnar for the title, reigns comes out first looking confused because Heyman isn't around, then later near the end Heyman comes out and says I'm so sorry that I betrayed you, Reigns beats up the other guy in anger but it's not that guy that he was talking about, it's the other 1/3 and they have the money in the bank and cash in to win. Punk and Austin would be awesome too
i think it should be cody vs roman at mania and have orton vs roman at the rumble. have randy take out solo, while jey takes out jimmy which would set up jey vs jimmy. cody NEEDS to finish the story already and if anything, they can have orton come out to celebrate with cody and then boom a rko to start the first feud for cody as champion.
Cody doesn't need a title to be relevant. He is totally over without even being in the range of a title shot currently. They not gonna waste a WM40 mainevent for cody vs roman v2. The Rock is still a possibility, too.
@@fragdq he came back to wwe to win the damm belt his father never won, so yes he needs the belt because they didnt pull the trigger this mania that passed because they thought the bloodline story would get even better but in reality it went to shit especially now that roman shows up every other month
You guys are thinking of it slightly off. He said that line meaning that he's not going to worry about upsetting anybody or what they think about him. He's only there to make money meaning big business, ratings, and a great product.
It just occurred to me that Punk saying things to the camera is him doing Shakespearian asides - you show the real self to the audience, but the other characters don't hear you. If that's true, it's brilliant.
I can tell you this, Bubba. I watched raw, almost all the way through, (at least had it on in the background) for the first time in probably 5 years. I still catch highlights. But yeah, CM, and Randy being back, made a difference.
Reminds me of that Venom line from the Tom Hardy movie... So many snacks, so little time. You've got Seth vs Jey next week, do you have RKO get his bloodline revenge on Jey, or does Priest cash in or does Drew interfere? Either way that likely leads to a grudge match for Jey so then Seth vs Sami? RKO receipt for Sami in the Bloodline to spoil that. I think you do that on TV and ultimately the Seth Punk snipes and various grudges lead to a champ match at Rumble... Where you go from there i dont know. People saying Punk Seth for WM night 1 probably means Seth retains the title? So many options... and really good ones.
Good thing Tommy isn’t a booker. No one is going to wait an extra year or even 6 months for Cody to finish his story. Do it at mania 40 and Cody gets to enter that Monday at wells fargo (his favorite venue) as champion
CM Punk returning is going to kill LA Knights momentum. LA Knight NEEDS to become a WWE Champion or World Champion while he has this momentum. Now, with all these returning people like Punk and Orton and even Lashley waiting in the wings for his opportunity, it makes it even more difficult for him to stand out. Now it could be years before he gets his hands on a top title. He was already left off of Survivor Series. Whats next for him. We already know Cody is winning the Universal Championship at WM. And CM Punk will most likely win the World Heavyweight Championship from Rollins. What does that leave for LA Knight? His character is bigger than the IC title and the US title just like Cody is.
I think Punk vs Roman would sell the most right now. I would have Randy cost Cody winning the Royal Rumble. For Mania I would do Cody vs Randy, LA Knight vs Rollins, and Punk vs Roman. Heyman turns on Roman and helps Punk beat Roman. Punk retains for a whole year. Then do Cody vs Punk for the title at next years Mania. Give Cody and Punk a whole year to tell a story. Cody finally wins and finishes the story. Maybe have Roman vs Rock main even night 1 to end the bloodline story too.
I like how excited they all are, love the WrestleMania 17 shout out (my first mania, first live wrestling show and I’m in the UK so that’s 1am to 5ish) I’m going Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes CM Punk vs Seth Rollins Randy Orton vs Gunther LA Knight vs Logan Paul Jey USO vs Jimmy USO Rhea Ripley vs Becky Lynch Charlotte Flair vs Bianca Belair Damien Priest and partners vs Judgment Day Bayley and partners vs Damage CTRL John Cena vs Solo Sikoa 3 or 4 team TLC match for the Tagteam titles Bron Breakker will be in action (Jade Cargill wins Royal Rumble 2025)

3:39 the reason I liked the line is because all night WWE told the audience this guy is Polarizing and controversial. So I think the next year of build is gonna be around the question “has Punk really changed”. He did this great babyface promo then finishes it with a little heel period. So he’s shows both sides early.
The storyline is right there " Has he really changed? "
Yeah thats all it was. A subtle wink at the audience letting them know what is coming
I saw it as a light jab at 'all friends wrestling'. I lost count at how many feuds were 'you were my friend' based lol
and you had Seth saying how hypocrite he is. I think that he was being purposely hypocritical to build the feud
And also as a small shot towards AEW without openly calling them out.
yep, that was directed at aew, "I am here to do good business, not to play with me friends" @@Wubbit_Reacts
I liked Punk’s line at the end. His whole promo was baby face then at the very end flips it and sprinkles a bit of heel in there at the last minute.
Makes sense
100%@@angeltodorov5918
It’s the Wrestling BUSINESS. Which means what makes the most money? If it means getting a kinda personal or working with someone that you don’t like, you’ll do it. But I think everyone is welcoming him back because it’s a team
Where is the section with Dub & Ross from In The Clutch? I’ve been waiting lol
Facts especially since AEW Goldberged her ass. So you don’t know what type of match she can have. If it’s Jade vs Charlotte vs Bianca I’m down for it
Roman vs Cody and Punk vs Seth is the safest and the logical path
HOWEVER lets have some fun with this.
Orrrr another one.
Why not Hayman having two world champions, one on Raw and one on SmackDown. Two heels, both under the undisputed wiseman
Then lost it to a part timer
Dolph Ziggler
Daniel Bryan
Sheamus
The Miz
R-Truth
Kofi Kingston
These men could’ve been pushed to the moon, but during that time most were pushed as mid card, and if they won the title then only held it once, twice if lucky and then pushed down the card again.
@urielgarcia6319 with Seth's displeasure. SETH vs PUNK is the better story
I do believe punk saying he’s home.
Listen, humans are not simple. We’re often angriest and most upset with people/things when we love and care about them.
The heartbreak he felt at WWE, was because he cared.
WWE was his true love, his first wife.
AEW helped him heal …
this.
@@chiefzackery6651 It won't be CM Punk.
The WWE bench is incredibly deep right now. Their star power is unmatchable!
Looking like the 86 Celtics
24:58 that exact point is probably what the issue was in AEW. There was The Elite they are great, but Punk was the star. Hopefully that realization is why Punk was able to come back to WWE
He started with a Brett Hart line & closed with a Scott Hall line. I’m surprised none of you guys picked up on that. It was intentional, the tone he wanted, & planting seeds to grow over time. HHH has demonstrated a commitment to long term storytelling & this lets him do the face antihero thing until they want to turn him heel.
When was the last time we were able to speculate about SO MANY possible storylines and matches that would awesome in WWE? What a great time
Exactly
Who does Orton get at Mania?
Punk IS a heel now in WWE. He already told us he "remembered who he was." And who was Punk long ago in ROH? A Badass anti hero heel. I am looking forward to watching him him show Roman who the better heel is. Roman is NOT on Punks heel level and that right there is what I believe Punk was going for in his raw promo
The promo was two-faced on purpose. Let's not forget what Seth said earlier on the show, he called Punk a hypocrite.
Let's also not forget another line from Punk.
"I'm here take everything I want from this place"
CM Punk is Mr.
This is why punk is very good on TV , Punk did a 5 min promo and its gets debates and dissected as if its a literacy piece 😉 you love to see it
Exactly. It was like reading a book. Cm punk left a total cliffhanger
Yeah😁
That Lenser, Reigns and Punk thing would be 🔥
mannn I could listen to a 5 hour podcast with these guys on the current state of WWE wrestling is winning AND IT FEELS GREAT YEAHHHHHH
That’s and “the most ‘feared’ man in the industry” line was a shot at Khan/AEW
Plus, according to reports was that his time was supposed to be around 15 mins but, timing issues with Orton/Dom match is what makes the promo “less than” and forced.
Naaa he later said not everyone in the locker room was happy so that whole “hypocrite” point is baseless
I think the "I'm not here to make friends" line was directed at Seth. Because he did also say "almost" everyone was welcoming backstage
@@ehi80my thoughts exactly
Yeah agreed
It needs to be a triple threat, Cody vs Punk vs Reigns at Mania
35:01
I think the "I'm not here to make friends" line was directed at Seth. Because he did also say "almost" everyone was welcoming backstage
When he was dissing all the scared wrestlers and said "he's not here to make friends,he's here to make money" ,lines were towards people like Seth(who didn't like him returning) I don't think he was dissing his friends he already has( I think its better way to say it is he's not here to make anymore new friends)
Exactly… these guys misunderstood and spent most of the show on their wrong premise
I think that last shot was aimed at certain people in AEW.
makes me think this is more likely the reason however the punk hypocrite angle with seth is up there too
Sureeee. You should know that after a certain age, people don’t change. He’ll pucker up, until he has some power, then become a douche again
My question is what happens to the LA Knight push? I felt the ending of survivor series with CM punk and Orton returning derailed his momentum
I think Knight will take the IC belt.
Knight's push is like Sami's push, it's a ground swell and management will run with it...but they aren't altering any overarching plans for it.
@@riffcrypt8438 I thought knight was a red hot face in route to a wrestlemania main event spot. Maybe Punk or Orton have a heel turn coming because the wwe is face heavy. Mega main event stars all at once is huge.
Tommy Dreamer's answers and opinions on this is why he was ljt retained or brought back by WWE aa a producer

Roman, Brock and Punk in a ring. Heyman on the outside, jaw dropped.
That's how you manufacture "This is awesome" chants.
Wow. First time listener.. I’ve always knew about the show, just didn’t have a chance to listen… blown away.
Imagine if Roman and Punk form a two-man power trip like Austin-HHH, with Paul Heyman managing two superstars
i still think Seth and Him will be Main event of night 1.
I love it
I would to but it most likely gonna be la knight vs logan paul. Jesus!!! You guys talk about blowing Dave’s mind, YOU BLEW MY MIND!!!! These types of discussions happen with fans on a daily basis and to see pros like Tommy & Bully get into it?🤯
With all the talk about punks last line I think that was aimed at Tony khan not wwe or the fans
I really enjoyed these discussions
Reigns and punk is the best move. I'm sick of everyone just going along with the most predictable story because we've been conditioned to not like unexpected stories... I want mystery now after years of predictability
CM Punk/Roman Reigns double turn at WM would make people's heads spin.
Tommy and Bully are on point, the "I'm not here to make friends" line undid everything that was just uttered before
That last line is what Scott Hall said to so did everyone jump on Scott for that.
These guys are oddly over critical
Would Punk vs Gunther get to interact with each other? If so, I would love to see this match!
I'm honestly just excited about this year's Rumble. Any Rumble that features enough high level stars that you truly can't predict the winner is an amazing Rumble.
I hope so cause im planning on going
Man y’all gave me goosebumps with these wrestlemania ideas!! IM HYPED!!🔥🔥🔥
man, I don't even watch WWE, but this one podcast episode has me extremely interested in watching again just to see how things play out.
Also....I love how they sort of glossed over the fact that Wrestlemania is going to be in Philly this year - which could just add more fuel to the fire.
Punk drew the most ppv buys in AEW ever. I though the last line at the end was a middle finger to them.
He takes his time too much and it's boring in the meantime
@@blakemaxfield4267 It's fine to feel that way, but it does add context to the promo. Punk can't go further than the script.
Just to pitch an idea : how cool would it be to see Cody finish his story against Punk ? The guy who dropped the Pipebomb against the guy who actually did what the pipebomb said ? The biggest main event on AEW history … but in WWE
Probably
That'd be great, but I feel like since they already had Cody lose to Roman in the main event of mania once, anything other than Cody beating Roman in the main event of mania to avenge that loss will leave the story feeling unfinished.
Y’all are geniuses. Triple H should pick y’all up to create storylines and throw out ideas. Keep up with the podcast. Y’all are great!🔥
When we eventually get to it, Punk V Cody going to feed GENERATIONS!
Not to mention punk brought the shield in the Paul angle and this win for Roman would solidify even further as the Goat
Also don’t ignore the fact that he dissed all the “scared” wrestlers in the back…
I'd prefer to see Punk vs Roman, they're easily the two biggest stars in the company right now so it's only natural that they'd be paired for WM, but WWE has laid it out pretty thick that Punk's first program will be against Rollins.
@@rileyk5228 yes it has Cody is as Cold as ice outside of his Fan Reactions But they are definitely setting up to have Roman lose at Mania 40 to Cody
Yep. These guys missed it and wasted a good portion of the show lol
God damn. Love listening to wrestling guys talk wrestling. Every scenario is great.
It makes so much more sense to do Seth vs. Punk and Roman vs. Cody II at WM then doing Punk vs. Roman.
The last line wasn't for the fans or locker room, it was for his former locket room.

Punk v Seth. Punk needs to win that belt, because that belt needs Punk's shine on it.
to be honest, i dont think CM Punk's issues were ever with the WWE, his issues were with Vince McMahon. with him out.. WWE can be his home.
RO vs RR in WM40.
Seth vs CM
This was really good! Thanks guys, a lot of new scenarios for WM

Love the Podcast gentlemen. Didn't disagree with anything that was said
94’ rumble finish is how it should be booked. Punk and Cody go over and land at the same time. Each gets to pick their title match.
I think that comment Punk made as Raw went off the air was directed towards Seth and got blown way out of proportion
Yesss these guys clearly don’t understand and wasted the show beating on it
Tommy acts like he knows wrestling but literally has never entertained anyone without Raven or sandman
Hell yeah! Glad to see One of my ECW favorites TOMMY DREAMER
Punk and Austin would be awesome too
If I close my eyes and listen, Dave sounds like Vince Russo 😂 💀
That Roman Brock Punk pitch is something.

Roman vs LA Knight round 2 for night 2, Cody vs Gunther, Seth vs Punk night 1
i think it should be cody vs roman at mania and have orton vs roman at the rumble. have randy take out solo, while jey takes out jimmy which would set up jey vs jimmy. cody NEEDS to finish the story already and if anything, they can have orton come out to celebrate with cody and then boom a rko to
start the first feud for cody as champion.
Cody doesn't need a title to be relevant. He is totally over without even being in the range of a title shot currently. They not gonna waste a WM40 mainevent for cody vs roman v2. The Rock is still a possibility, too.

What’s next for him is winning the US Title from Logan Paul at WM40. He can make the US title just as important as Gunther is doing with the IC title.
Cody’s time was last year and they blew it. Can’t get that moment back. I’d like to move on with LA knight or Punk or Rock
I like how excited they all are, love the WrestleMania 17 shout out (my first mania, first live wrestling show and I’m in the UK so that’s 1am to 5ish)
I’m going
Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes
CM Punk vs Seth Rollins
Randy Orton vs Gunther
LA Knight vs Logan Paul
Jey USO vs Jimmy USO
Rhea Ripley vs Becky Lynch
Charlotte Flair vs Bianca Belair
Damien Priest and partners vs Judgment Day
Bayley and partners vs Damage CTRL
John Cena vs Solo Sikoa
3 or 4 team TLC match for the Tagteam titles
Bron Breakker will be in action
(Jade Cargill wins Royal Rumble 2025)
