The Adidas Dropset Trainer 3 has remained relatively consistent with the Dropset 2 with a few key construction updates.
Last year, the Dropset Trainer 2 was what I would be the dark horse of the cross-training shoe scene. I did NOT expect them to be as good as they were so I was super hyped to buy, test, and review the Dropset Trainer 3.
In my Dropset 3 review, I break down all of the key details to know about this model and help you decide if this shoe is right for you.

At the end of the day, the Dropset Trainer 3 is good, and I think the construction updates make it a stronger shoe for CrossFit and durability.
They kept the midsole and outsole, which make this model awesome for lifting, and buffed the materials around the midfoot and toe box.
My only gripe with this shoe is that with the more rigid upper, the toe box does feel a smidge more snug which I think could cause some sizing issues for some.

Another amazing review. Thanks and keep the incredible work!
Thank you, friend!
Love your reviews❤
Thank you!
Thanks Jake, it was your videos that got me in the excellent Dropset 2, and your videos that let me know that this newer model won't work as well. Invaluable! I am exactly who you are describing at 3:22
Ayy, stoked the videos have helped you!
Gorgeous colorway. Hope to get this one as soon as it's available in my country. Cheers!
Cheers, homie!
I've been thinking about getting either the Metcon 9 or Dropset 3 to upgrade from my Reebok Nano X3, primarily for cross training. I think I'm getting this. Thanks for the in-depth review!
Ay, think you'll be happy with them! Thank you, homie!
I only have one lift in them and it was a heavy squat day and they were PLANTED. My RADs are pretty stable too but I think the heel in the DS3 makes it feel a tad sturdier. I did have some issue with the heel going up so high on a walk I got some rubbing. Wasn't that much of an issue during the lift. I have a 2E foot and they fit great but you are right about the toe box being a little aggressive. Nothing too serious and it felt like it loosened up by the end of the workout. Have yet to try them crossfit.
Heck yeah! Glad you’re enjoying them and always appreciate hearing your insights, homie
Adidas made the impossible. Not only a great shoe for lifting but also for running. Comfortable, light and looks great!
Agreed! Dropset has become a solid model 👌
You are lying lol the back upper part is way too high to be suitable for running let alone fast pace walking and it's heavy lol
@@jamesfranko1568 bruh, at no point did anyone say it’s amazing for running but it can work, especially if you’re a forefoot and midfoot striker doing short bouts.
I legit say in this review not great for long running and heel strikers because of the heel.
Did you watch the video or you just spouting off based off of limited contexts in comments? 😂
@@thatfitfriend I actually own this pair lol I love the design so much which is why I kind of am a repeat customer of this for 3 times but I've given up on it cuz the upper back is just way too high not only that but hard plastics and gave me blister on achilles at any given time so I had to stop. You are paid by Adidas. I have no problem when I'm wearing socks above my ankle but this is definitely not a shoe for high intensity exercises.
@@jamesfranko1568 I’m not paid, lmao. I buy everything on this channel - you must be new here, huh? Ask anyone who’s been around if I’m paid…
I also mention how the higher boot can be a turnoff for some. You likely have a flatter Achilles which causes that rub which can happen in some - part of the individuality of stuff, but you can’t blanket your own issues on everyone - make it known but to speak so bluntly for everyone shows your lack of understanding of the review/channel.
You had a bad experience with em which is fine, but share that context as to why for folks and move on. You sound like youre projecting your bad experience and taking it out on my review, lol.
Amazing review to the point. Just got the dropset 2 based on your recommendations. What shoe would you recommend for daily walking/running 5 miles?
Saving folks time & money, that’s the goal 🤌
Thank you!
Wanting a running shoe specifically? Or something like an on cloud 5 or ultrarange exo for walking only?
@@thatfitfriend its basically hybrid for running and walking? I was keen on Nike Pegasus 41, your views?
@@mitsinai3091 Pegasus works!
Models like that are good because they tend to be a catch all for folks and have decent prices. I’d go with those or a floatride energy from Reebok
Could you do a comparison video of dropset 2 and 3 ?
Currently have the Metcon 9, I really like the DS3 but I feel like I should wait for the Metcon 10 to compare unless you have some insider knowledge of the 10 already? The Metcon 9 has been good to me but I can’t do that rope guard again!
10 will likely be a continuation of the 9 so if you like them and wait or go DS3, I think you’ll be sitting pretty 👌
I like the dropset 2 but want something wider and a little more minimal. Thinking of trying something different like the notorious lift radix.
You could also try the Born Primitive Savage 1 if you want to stick with trainer but want less stack height.
Radix are solid if you're going barefoot!
Dropset 3 or On cloud x3 ? I like running and do some weight xx
Cool review but I would like to see a comparison section where you compare the tested shoe with other models. Many of us do not have the opportunity to try all the models and it would allow us to better "understand" the shoe since.
I love the UA Tribase Reign 2 and still wear them now but it's time to retire them🤣I don't like what UA did with the new iterations, so I just ordered the Dropset 3 and Nano X4.
I would like to test the Haze, RAD One and CX-T2 but it is not easy to find them in Europe (Belgium). I can order them but it's not easy to know which size to choose and given the costs, returns are almost impossible.
The Dropset 3 feel good on feet but I don't think I could use them for all my WODs. Which shoe would you choose to go with?
I have round-ups and film comparisons separately! Haha, feel you - no one wants to spend all of that on them, too, which is my goal. Save you time and money.
I’ll have more comparisons as I test them more. If I did it all in one video, then it would be like 30-40 minutes long 😅
CXT-2 and DS3 is one of my next ones
I’d try RAD if you have narrow or medium foot width!
Haze is also sick and TYR is good but may feel too chunky for you through the midfoot if you don’t love the newer Nanos
@@thatfitfriendI would watch that 40 min video 😂 But I understand that you want to test it more.
I do have a narrow foot so interesting comment on the RAD 😬
The Nano X4 wears pretty well at first glance. I ordered another size just to be sure.
Thanks for your feedback 🙌🏻
@@renaud_ haha, you’re an anomaly there based on data 😅
def give the RAD a go then!
Welcome 🤝
Ok I ordered both metcon 8 and these dropset 3 and the dropset win hands down. Way way more comfortable while providing the same stability. The Metcons feel clunky when walking around while the dropsets feel like regular sneakers.
Dropset are so solid. Glad you compared and found a pair that works!
Hey Jake, what shoes would you recommend for a 2E-3E width foot and a high arch? I currently own the primus lite 3s but find them too narrow in the midfoot (the toebox is fine) and too flat for my high arch.
I'm thinking of trying these but I'm a little concerned they're going to be too narrow in the midfoot as well. Also considering the primitive savage 1s but i'm interested to see if you think there are any better options.
If you try these out, I'd go through Adidas or Amazon so you can easily return in case they're too snug.
I'd try Born Prim Savage 1 or VIKTOS Core Gym/2 - those may give you the space/width you're after!
Should i get dropset 3 or wait for nike metcon 10s? I mostly do lifting and little bit cross training.
Dropset for sure!
Are these shoes good for running???
Dropset 2s were my favorite shoes since the Metcon Sport but sadly the same size in the 3s as the 2s were too short and tight in the toe box. Had to return
Yep, I figured this would be an issue for some. Problem with making the upper more rigid. Bummed to hear that, homie
Puma Fuse 3 or Adidas Dropset 3?
What is ur take on Nike In season 13tr compared to Rebok nano x3 and Puma fuse 2.0
Hit you back on my other video
Hey, what is the weight of this shoes if you compare with Nano or Metcon? Thanks
Depends on the model. These are lighter than the X4/9, though!
Which one (Adidas Dropset 2 Vs Adidas Rapidmove ADV) would you recommend for group classes; mostly HIIT (cardio, jumping, squats, lunges, burpess, etc.) along with moderate weightlifitng?
Rapidmove!
My Nano x2 are wearing out and I’m looking for something to replace them. I have a wider foot and recently tried the Nano x4 on and they were horrible. Should I try the Dropset 3 or is there a better alternative for wide feet?
I'd try the Dropset 2 over the three or flip the script and grab a Born Prim Savage 1 (believe they're 20% off atm, too)
Hi Jake the shoes master. Last time I bought UA 6 Reign and again I had to send back. My foot is wider. I start lose hope I will find right shoes, nightmare
Try the Born Prim Savage 1, think those would be a good option! Will feel wider than the Reign 6
Can you start reviewing sabo squat shoes?
They're on my radar!
What is a roomier weight lifting shoes?
I bought the nano x4 and it is waaaaay to tight. Unusable. Thanks!
Born Primitive Savage 1 or Reebok Nano 2.0
Is 90€ for dropset 2 worth rather then 130€ for dropset 3?
@@Jarrpin yeah! Save that bread
Who wears training shoes outside the gym?
A lot of people. Many a contexts outside of your personal use case, homie.
For example, I rock em casually if running errands and going to train or don’t feel like bringing multiple pairs with me.
I know a lot of folks who walk to their gyms in diff countries and like wearing them to and from, and there are always comments on videos asking so I test for that 🫡
Peep my other Dropset videos, always comments about that cut out in rainy settings
I do as well. I rock the nano glide tr v2 at work and ruck with them as well.
commenting for the algo!
My brozer 🫂🤝
so buy dropset 2 ? hahhaah
If you can find a good sale!
