  • A definition and explanation of aesthetics in Drama.
    To help consider what aesthetics is in drama, you can think of the opposite (which most people are familiar with) - anaesthetic. Anaesthetic makes you numb - so aesthetics make you FEEL. It’s all to do with how the picture on stage makes you feel. Aesthetics can be very powerful (and is used a lot in casting too). Think about the characters on stage, their height, weight, hair colour, gender, costume etc, and then change one thing to see if it alters the picture and the way it makes you feel. For example if one character is taller than the other, that may create the appearance of power for that character.
