Tangled will always feel like one of Disney’s most well constructed movies to me. Film makers have to pick and choose a focus to dedicate the film to so the overall story they want to tell is told, and anything not directly to that cause is likelier to be weaker. Something HTTYD has going for it (that a lot of people probably don’t realize) is it’s incredibly realistic portrayal of inventing and engineering in general. Hiccup starts building something and it doesn’t work the first time, so he continuously goes back and experiments with this design, making adjustments and improvements as time goes on. And it doesn’t stop when he gets it to work. He is constantly working on making Toothless’s tail, along with all his other gadgets, better. All his gear shown in later movies and the show has a practical purpose, from fireproof armor designed to look similar to a dragon to the pockets where he carries stuff like knives and his map. And the engineering uses actual physics! The stuff Hiccup makes is grounded in reality and not “oh this works because something something long technology words” that most movies do (it’s even more aggravating when they’re movies that pretend to care about that kind of stuff. Looking at you, BH6). Idk as a kid who loves engineering and knows stuff about aerodynamics I appreciate HTTYD for how it does all that stuff.
I thought she put The Owl House theme in Owls of Ga'hoole because of how well it fits. But it's because it's The *OWL* House theme in *OWLS* of Ga'hoole.

In this man's humble opinion, 2010 was the greatest year ever for animated films! Every studio produced some of the best films they they ever made with Toy Story 3, How to Train Your Dragon, and Tangled being some of my favorite films of all time!
I was thinking the same thing! It was hilarious- genuinely, wholeheartedly, hilarious! And I for once didn’t mind the love interest. Should have been top 3 for sure
I just love how Megamind pokes fun at common superhero tropes, then either proceeds to do the trope better or subverts the trope. Like literally starting with the "he landed in wealth, I landed in jail" thing, only to show that Megaman and Megamind both genuinely don't like what they thought they were obligated to be. Or how Roxanne was still not enamored with Hal even though "he's the good guy" because she still thinks he's a creep.
I've always found that 2016 had some great animated films. Inside out, Zootopia, Your Name, Moana. It had some of the best Disney and Pixar films of the decade and it had Your Name which is my favorite movie

thought I would say if anyone loved the Tangled characters but not the music as much, WATCH THE SERIES! It starts off slow, but when the story fully kicks off, it is amazing and the songs work so much better and the new characters are really enjoyable (especially Varian!)
I remember when Alpha and Omega was being worked on by the studio I was working at in India. The terrible horrible era of my life. They hadn't paid anyone for 6 months. Not that the salary was anything. Most of the work was being done by interns working for the experience or a stipend of $3 a month. But hey, the animation is my passion and I should be happy for the opportunity. Hope all the American studios that outsource their work for cheap exploitable labor burn in hell. Sorry for the rant.
I had "Alpha and Omega" memorized as a kid because I would literally watch it EVERY. SINLE. DAY. Granted, I was eight when it came out, so I was drawn to anything that could hold my attention, but I would literally reenact the movie word-for-word with my Pet Shops and dolls 🤣
I didn’t even realize so many of these films came out in 2010. I did remember HTTYD, Tangled and Toy Story 3 but that was it. Of course HTTYD was my favorite film of the year.
This comment section needs to STOP expecting Cellspex to agree with Schaffrillas. Cell Spex is a great critic and she can design her own opinions. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE SHOW SOME RESPECT.
2010 has to be one of the best years for any style of film ever. You got The Social Network (should've won best picture), Black Swan, Inception, Toy Story 3, 127 hours and Shutter Island all in one year. Extremely stacked.
I never got a cheerleader vibe from Astrid. She's on the ball, serious and puts in the effort. Hiccup may be the dreamer who can find novel solutions, but Astrid is practical and efficient. Her problem is that she was working on the false pretense of what dragons were like because that was what was given to her by her family and fellows.
I think CellSpex meaned this in the context of the trope. 'Oh, I am the cold badass girl everyone loves and I could have any boy I want, but one fly-scene with the nerdy outcast is enough to decide that he's the most desirable men of all time.' And yeah, with that I personally can't argue - Astrids personality could have been so much better if they let it develope slowly and not like a whiplash between arrogance, jealousy and suddenly love, especially in the first movie.
The fact that no one remembers legend of the guardians makes me feel really stupid for always quoting “you gotta feel it in ya gizzard” to my friends. Edit I also quote “into battle we shall fly,.... we’re all going to die” I related to that sarcastic kooky owl way to much as a five year old.

STOP MAKING FUN OF HICCUP he defeated the red death ended a 7 generation war willingly attempted to sacrifice himself to save everyone else helps everyone else through their conflicts saved berk from a despot and his dragon look-alike guided berk through a fight with a intellectually deranged assassin and succeeded And that's not even mentioning the TV series

I theorize it was going to be "Drift away" from Steven Universe. It would defenetly be my pick and if you use an SU song, you would defenetly get a copyright claim (A video I made got block in certain countries because a part had an SU song)
One thing that I think is worth mentioning about Arriety, that surprised my when I watched it, is how good an adaptation it is. It really nails the tone and the characters, from what I remember. I think the biggest change is they introduced Spiller who wasn't in the first book but the change works and I think it shows an understanding of the source material. The Boy (he isn't named in the book) is also a bit creepy in the book.

How to train your dragon or the lowest one on the list?
That's what i like about 2010, it was a very productive and successful film year, it gave us masterpieces that we still watch to this day!!!
“Megamind is a subversive masterpiece.”
Exactly.... I don't care if I watch it anytime.

Can I just say I love how you put the owl house theme song

“It’s too bad no one remembers it.”

Seriously though you should check them out, they are a ton better than the movie, and a lot darker.

The one for Alpha & Omega is the "Rollercoaster" song Cellspex used for Wonder Park in 2019, I think she titled it in the comments
An addition on the "Somebody That I Used to Know" - It's a medievalish "bardcore" cover by Hildegard von Blingin'.
@@Molly-ml1wn I think it is.
The one's you're missing are, in order,
"Rollercoaster" as mentioned by another commenter.
+1 on the Hildegard von Blingin Feat. Friar Funk correction by another commenter.
Bardcore Cover of "Nothing Else Matters" by Algal
"Brave New World", but I'm not sure whose remix.
I don't know this one either
"Emotional" by PeriTune
"Epic Cinematic Dramatic Adventure Trailer" by Romansenykmusic. And yes, it's called that.
"Rio de Janeiro" by Chamonix
And another bardcore Cover, this time "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Stantough
I left a new comment, with timestamps and titles for everything I was able to get.

Fun fact, firebreather actually lives in the same universe as Invincible and they had a brief team up mini series.
Really? Cool I did not know that thanks
I thought she put The Owl House theme in Owls of Ga'hoole because of how well it fits. But it's because it's The *OWL* House theme in *OWLS* of Ga'hoole.
Yeah, was wondering how many people picked up on that.
Every so often for the past ten years I think of Firebreather. Until today I could never remember it's name, but I'd always just try to remember if they explained the kids conception.
I remember loving so much Gahoole and How to train your dragon as a kid, they felt so different as animated movies
Sadly, most of the animated movies nowadays are still mostly comedies :/
A Cat in Paris: Never heard of it, but based on the artstyle, I do believe I _have_ seen a film from the same people, Ghost Boy, which I DID enjoy a whole bunch. Thanks for the rec.
it's called phantom boy, and it's indeed made by the same people.
I’m loving the giant onslaught of cellspex movies we’ve been getting lately.
Videos not movies
"Prettiest thing Snyder ever made" OMFG that's hilarious.
As a major fan of him, I can lowkey agree with that
16:24 well duh. the first movie was the initial development of their relationship, and it progressed in the series.

Yes.
Cellspex: * puts Shrek Forever After as the 3rd worst *

Is really everyone going to focus on that lazy Shrek-movie?
TBF a review is just someone's opinion
@@fermintenava5911 how is it lazy. Seriously watch Schaffrillas Production video. Even if you don't want to the vast majority of the comments agree that cellspex did shrek forever after dirty
@@iamtheonewhotalksbutyoucan5781 no, most of the comments are “HURRR SCHAFRILLAS DO BE SCREAMING AND ANGRY RN HAHAHAHAH”
Let me just say for the record that as a furry who is perfectly okay with nsfw content, Alpha & Omega genuinely terrifies me
I agree, weird stuff.
I have not seen it and I am NOT PLANNING ON IT
To be honest, I disagree with shrek 4s placement. It's your opinion, and that it perfectly fine, your opinion is valid and I do agree the opening is a bit hard to get through. However, it makes Shrek's redemption all the more sweeter. And the score when he fades out honestly makes me tear up to this day. Plus, I don't think it's meant to say "ooOOoh bEINg a dAd is hAaArd", but instead to show the status of the Shrek franchise at that point. Since this was when the Shrek franchise was seen as a joke. Nevertheless, your opinion is valid and you make some good points.
I was today years old when I learned there were Alpha and Omega stans.
Also, A Cat in Paris and Chico and Rita are so great. I'm glad to see them get some love.
I still cant beleive legend of the guardians is from 2010...
It just looks amazing up to date
Just watched it last week, My little brother can't believe it was from 10 years ago
Shame it bombed though
@@leeobrien2004 A real absolute shame indeed
Okay, okay, she appreciates Tangled’s story AND she’s watched the series. My love for CellSpex has gone up 73%
Yeah but then the rest of the list has a lot of really questionable choices, so she also got down 73% for me. I mean, Legend of The Guardians above Shrek Forever After ? Really ?
@@20000dino it’s personal opinions
Still too low
@@theashendevil okay yeah true- at least for me
@@theashendevil shrek forever after is a masterpiece and people just like to hold on to the negative perceptions they had of it when it came out 11 years ago instead of actually seeing the film for what it is. It might not be the funny, self aware parody of fairy-tales and clever critique to society’s norms like the previous entries on the franchise (excluding shrek the third), but it’s an emotional, heartfelt, epic journey of an ogre trying to fix the biggest mistake he has ever done and get his life back.
wow I thought that the Guardians of GaHoole movie was a childhood fever dream of mine...
So upset with how the Guardians of Ga'Hoole movie turned out. I loved those books as a kid, and that movie cut all of the really cool stuff out
Gotta push that Rand content
Hey, Cellspex, I can understand why you ranked Shrek Forever After so low; heck, even I didn't like it when I was younger.
But I highly recommend watching Schafferillas Productions' video on why Shrek Forever After is an Underrated Gem.
Love your videos, btw! Keep up the good work and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on future animated stories!
I came here to comment this lol!
I noticed that CellSpex and Schaffrillas has so many contradicting opinions lol
Big Hero 6 was such a disappointment to Schaffrillas while it was really good to Cell
I don’t see why a movie reviewing content creator should need to see what another movie reviewing content creator has to say just because their opinions differ
@@emblemblade9245__ It's just a suggestion; to see what others have to say about this film not only offers differing opinions, but intriguing insight.
In the end, it's just that; a suggestion.
@Spider-Venom what makes syiu say it’s a terrible suggestion
In this man's humble opinion, 2010 was the greatest year ever for animated films! Every studio produced some of the best films they they ever made with Toy Story 3, How to Train Your Dragon, and Tangled being some of my favorite films of all time!
I love Tangled Rapunzel is soo adorable. And seriously I see the light is soo beautiful.
I know logically tangled is a good movie but man megamind has aged SO much better in my brain.
"A silent voice", "The red turtle" and "In this corner of the world" premiered that year too. I like them a lot. It was a great year for anime movies.
2016 and on were all pretty good years for movies
inside out is from 2015, not 2016.
also, kubo and the two strings is fantastic.
CellSpex: *Calls Shrek The Fourth bad and Megamind average.*
Shafrillias Productions: *Muffled Shiny boss music slowly growing*
she implied shrek 4 was average and megamind was good. did you not watch the video at all? it's a great year for animated movies, of course they ended up earlier on the video's time bar.
I was listening to this video in the background while I draw, and getting to 7:00 and hearing The Owl House theme snapped me to attention so quickly I think I got whiplash
thought I would say if anyone loved the Tangled characters but not the music as much, WATCH THE SERIES!
It starts off slow, but when the story fully kicks off, it is amazing and the songs work so much better and the new characters are really enjoyable (especially Varian!)
Agree! The songs especelly are fantastic!
Celly: *uploads worst to best*
Me: "I HAVE TO WATCH THIS RIGHT NOW."
I still watch it fairly often, mainly as background noise.
hot take: megamind should have been nominated for best animated feature instead of a cat in paris
Hot, so hot
a cat in paris was submitted for the oscar in 2011, not 2010. so no, megamind could not have replaced it.
I didn’t even realize so many of these films came out in 2010. I did remember HTTYD, Tangled and Toy Story 3 but that was it. Of course HTTYD was my favorite film of the year.
Legend of the Guardians is underrated for me.
I agree
So great to see you here Lee
@@Merdicano You too my friend
megamind is like. one of my favorite movies still to this day
Arrietty is my favorite Ghibli movie. It's just so wholesome and wondrous.

This comment section needs to STOP expecting Cellspex to agree with Schaffrillas. Cell Spex is a great critic and she can design her own opinions. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE SHOW SOME RESPECT.
97% of the comments: Talking about their own opinions of the movies
3% of the comments: Schaffrillas reaction on Megamind and Shrek Forever After
Now 97% is Schaffrillas.
you got them reversed.
"Surprisingly violent for owls"
You... don't know that much about owls, do you?
2010 has to be one of the best years for any style of film ever. You got The Social Network (should've won best picture), Black Swan, Inception, Toy Story 3, 127 hours and Shutter Island all in one year. Extremely stacked.
I think it's up there with 94, 99 and 14
Media Tech I’d angle it up there with those three and 84/85 as well. 2019 was another great year that’s up there.
Couldn't she have been the protagonist instead?
I think CellSpex meaned this in the context of the trope. 'Oh, I am the cold badass girl everyone loves and I could have any boy I want, but one fly-scene with the nerdy outcast is enough to decide that he's the most desirable men of all time.'
And yeah, with that I personally can't argue - Astrids personality could have been so much better if they let it develope slowly and not like a whiplash between arrogance, jealousy and suddenly love, especially in the first movie.
@@dragonexe2297 Hope you mean in only the first movie, her character's way better and more likeable in the sequels.

Alpha and Omega is in the "so bad it's good/funny" tier for me tbh. Hard to think I didn't think it was bad when I was like ten lol

Ghibli films look very beautiful and they make me go:
"Reject consumerism and urbanism, return to ruralism and cottagecore."
16:00 worst thing about the series. STOP MAKING FUN OF HICCUP

ended a 7 generation war
willingly attempted to sacrifice himself to save everyone else
helps everyone else through their conflicts
saved berk from a despot and his dragon look-alike
guided berk through a fight with a intellectually deranged assassin and succeeded
And that's not even mentioning the TV series
i've always remembered a street scene where its like dark and i guess surrounded by buildings, i never knew which movie the scene belonged to and it's always drove me crazy. so once i saw 'a cat in paris' being mentioned, i immediately knew! Thanks for that mystery being solved.
Am I allowed to ask what the original song was supposed to be for Toy Story 3, CellSpex?
I second this, and also Despicable Me.
I theorize it was going to be "Drift away" from Steven Universe. It would defenetly be my pick and if you use an SU song, you would defenetly get a copyright claim (A video I made got block in certain countries because a part had an SU song)
I CANT BELIEVE you put megamind so low! that film is a fucking masterpiece
Ah! I remember pirating a cat in Paris on UA-cam when I was like 9, thanks for reminding me it existed
3 videos from Cellspex in the span of one month?! Truly this must be the work of sorcery.

Haha, I know the artist who created the Firebreather comics. This was a nice bit of nostalgia.
Idk I like that Hal is a commentary on the “nice guys”
I remember trying to watch Alpha and Omega way back when. I got to "The Howl" with the weird howl singing and was just like NOPE, and stopped watching the film then and there.
As a fan of the movie I can’t blame you. I don’t even like that scene.
Idk about y'all but Megamind's last dance number was the first ending number I could stand
Everything else before that was just second hand embarrassment because I was not at all a fan of musicals in emotional movies
But that one was pretty enjoyable and it didn't make me wanna change the channel
I personally don’t mind ending dance scenes in movies at all, if they’re done right. It’s not a big deal if there is one I don’t like though.
How To Train Your Dragon has sticked the most since 2010. It had a likeable male lead, flawed father & son dynamic, had room to breathe with poignant sequences while featuring incredible flight sequences. That ending scene left audiences in shock, then everyone praised it for the taking that risk, with said protagonist. How To Train Your Dragon is a modern classic!
In the Netherlands (I don’t know how it is in other countries, I think the rest of Europe too) tangled is called Rapunzel, so the generic name trend didn’t start with tangled in Europe
“Laughs in European”
I never realized ZACK SNYDER directed the Guardians of Ga'Hoole movie. That is bonkers.
