    I found this video very helpful. I should point out one small mistake, just in case anyone is feeling confused by it. 😬
    When you explain the second position (at 6:46), your right hand is voicing the 5th, 3rd, and 5th intervals, but any other time you play this second position (like 7:25, 7:49, 8:33...), your right hand is actually voicing a 5th, 1st, and 5th. Both structures sound nice, but I wanted to make sure other viewers understand the discrepancy.

    Got my self a good Roland workstation for my 60th Birthday. I can’t play at all but I am an average guitarist and tenor sax player. I want to have some fun writing songs and making some accompaniment for my other instruments. I used to be able to put my hands on a keyboard and spread my fingers 1 3 and 5 and experiment from there (trying to find add 9"s). Finding your channel has been inspirational. You are so inspiring. You are a gifted teacher. I have viewed guitar and sax tuition on the web for many years but I have never seen anyone as encouraging and as inspiring as you.
    You create such a relaxed atmosphere in your videos that encourages beginners to give things a try that might seem intimidating otherwise. And your constant emphasis that we are here to have fun whilst learning in a relaxed way, is so important and often missed by 90% of other tutors on the Web. I just wanted to thank you for the joy that you are giving me. I am only a couple of weeks playing at the moment but I am so excited about working through all your tutorials. Thank you so much. You will give me years of pleasure.

    I'm in love with this video. It's just exactly what I want to learn. Beautiful contemporary music, kinda melancholic and simply wonderful. These chord changes with the 3rd at the top, how could you not love them?! And all of that just within the plain old C/AMin scale. Thank you!

    • @Creativepianoacademy
      @Creativepianoacademy  6 років тому +1

      Haha, glad you liked it David. I do love these 'relatively simple' methods of creating music. That third at the top is a good stepping stone into melody writing. You can almost just hear the melody when you change chords and it becomes a game to simply fill in the notes. Thanks for the kind words. Really appreciate it!

      Sometimes, people move out of the scale, like in a chord progression or maybe like at a climax, which completely changes the mood of the song. The problem is that when I try to do it, it sounds horrible or if I do catch on some good moves, then I am not able to build it up. Could you kindly take something like that.
      P.S. Could kindly tell what's happening over in this video at around 1:54 to 1:57. You may also get an idea what I was talking about if you listen to the full sing. ua-cam.com/video/m463AgR-IJ0/v-deo.html

      So basically that 'transition' chord you are talking about is a diminished chord (at least thats what my ears tell me). Its a whole other world to explain and more than I can do in a comment. Basically, we can use it to link 2 chords or even move between keys.

    Joe, another great video, love the ideas you present. Curious if you've seen Scaler by PluginBoutique? Amazing tool that not only has huge libraries of chords and flexibility in how it voices them, including artist chord sets, but it also will detect input notes and/or chords and tell you the applicable scales and modes, and rank them depending on the number of matching notes... might inspire you for some add'l chord ideas - not that you need them! I think I got it right away. So you just play for example a C Major Cord, but skipped the 3th note and play the route note again but 1 octave higher and on the right hand you skipped the 5th note to play the missing 3th as chord and the same thing with the octave. Something like that xD Did I got it before watching the video?

      Hey Sukesh. I'm not sure what you mean. Both those sets of notes are the E minor chord. The beauty about open chords like this is that you can spread them out in whatever way you want. This can create slightly different variations. So your version is simply a different way to play it and will sound great.
