why do people(west) generalize Asia as if it only consists of east Asian countries? other Asian people are called Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Saudi etc and sometimes they forget we are Asians too.

can't say much about me and my siblings because we're mixed race, but my aunt family (pure chinese) and her (nine) kids each have quite different eyes shapes; monolids, doublelids, slanted, almond, round.
So not all east asians have slanted eyes. People who said that was just being ignorants.

I never knew there was a name for my skin fold. I have a very distinctive Epicanthal fold. Always wondered what part of my heredity it came from.

What are 'Mexican eyes?' First time I've ever heard that. Mexicans' eyes come in all colors, shapes and sizes that it's difficult to apply one adjective to them.

Mexican is not a race lol. Hispanics turned out to be very mixed actually. Main components are usually Native American, Iberian (people who originate from Spain), and Sub-Saharan African. Majority of Hispanics do have an epicanthal fold, though a majority may have a weak epicanthal fold since the Spanish and sub saharan african part is balancing it out since most have no epicanthal fold.

I am Indian and our eyes are very different from east asians. Most of us here have big eyes with double eyelid. Its a common thing here. So I think asia is pretty diverse...

I don't think she's necessary mixed. My husband has double eye lids. I have them when I closed my eyes or when I look down so my 3 children actually have double eye lids, especially my oldest daughter. She has big eyes.

Thanks for this thorough analysis, Mr. Chen! I am sure the more protection the eyelids provide the better our eyes can filter the sunlight. I'm curious to hear your opinions about the authors egregious number of Chinese/Taiwanese children whose parents put to have them fitted for corrective lenses. After teaching English across Taiwan, I recognize it has become an epidemic issue. I don't agree with corrective lenses for children, unless they are shooting rifles or driving vehicles... because it deteriorates their body's ability to heal itself, causing fatigue and strain throughout the duration of use. Any ideas?

Thanks mike for this video. Ive always tried to figure out what mono-lid was (doesn't everyone have just one lid on top? Yes I have been accused of being an airhead!) Coming from a multi-ethnic community it took me a while to figure out that other people don't just see eyes. I have been laughed at by my "Asian" friends cause I couldn't figure that mono-lid thing out! I'll show them now! :)

I'm European, my ancestors were the uralic people who traveled to Estonia. They didn't have the Asian eyes but could have developed these Asian looking eyes by eyes probably by mixing with the Northern Asians or with the weather. I have the Eastern European/West Asian eyes, that comes from the Mongol invasions, they reached Lithuania and even bordered the areas of Estonia.

You know when I was a kid I had very monolid eyes, but as I grew and got older my eyes changed 😂. I kind of hate not having super Asian eyes anymore.

I found this incredibly interesting. I hate the idea that people/groups with unique physical characteristics feel the need to play them down, or that somehow talking about these things is "racist" or otherwise taboo. I want to know about asian eyes, and the nose shape, and the skin color, and the shortness. It's interesting! Same goes with every other race! Talk about your skin color, and your distinctly different feature shapes. Blow that door wide open.

I have a puffy eyelid and a crease
The puffiness covers the crease towards the tear duct, but as it travels to the end of my eye the puffiness kinda goes up and makes the crease more visible (I forgot what type of eye this is-)
