Great information and well presented Thanks for sharing.. I'll be turning 50 while traveling and have a uni student card from Australia.. would my Australian student card & age be valid for discounts in Europe if i purchase extended use bus/train/ ferry tix?? Not to be a cheap-ass just looking for an alternative experience.. My itinerary is a bit zigzagy starting in Trieste Italy then Dolomites, Venice, Verona, Florence/Pisa after which heading over to Spain for the bull run then up again via France Back over Italy via Sardinia then Scilly back up to Trieste via Naples, Amalfi Tuscany after quick say goodbye in Trieste will fly to Croatia (only cos i had to other wise would have preferred the views and save on a nights accommodation on a train/bus) for 3 weeks (ps.. great you mentioned Croatia as a lesser travelers to go to country.. imagine its a contrast from the busy-ness of previous cities) then Turkey for a tour and a few free days then to India for 3 months.. Just trying to workout best ticket options for trains, buses & ferries.. The ""room/bed"" you showed looks pretty comfy..Whar class tix was that on?? Once again thanks for sharing your experiences and cost break downs (although I've sifted through multiple on multiple accomidations & not got any for 5€. Could be iam not traveling during a shoulder season?? Plus my age works against cheaper hostel rules.. 😐🤔.. moral of the story Do it before your 30 people.. 😂🤣😂

Heyy thanks for watching and the comment! Yeah I think your student card would grant you discounts regardless of age 😀your itinerary sounds great and whilst I've never visited Italy I know a lot of people that absolutely love many different locations in the country! Yeah Croatia had a different feel to all the other places mentioned, it seemed a lot less crowded and a lot more laid back which is always nice especially when travelling. Best option for transport would probably be an interrail pass as I do believe they cover ferry journeys as well, whilst bus transport won't be covered the majority of the places mention will have a train station. The room on the train was a 2nd class 2 person sleeper on a night train, I can't remember the exact price but is was very reasonable :) Time of year plays a big factor in accommodation prices, as does location. I think lesser known locations and highly visited places have the highest price and everything in between most and least visited have the best prices available! I doubt it is anything to do with age as its never too old to travel 😀😀

Hi there, I have been reading a lot about Interrail but I can’t figure out about the flights. Can you not fly and take the train from the UK into the rest of Europe, and is this included in the Interrail pass? Or do you have to fly into Europe before using the pass, many thanks

I personally couldn't as I'm from the UK so you can't use your pass within your own country. However, if you're not from the UK then you're free to do so :)

Just standard 4-8 weeks before hand, flights in Europe are usually that cheap from the UK :)

@@AaronJarvis96 did you include baggage in that?

Call the hotels normalt gives 2-5 euro cheaper then online booking. Book before you get there ut you show up asking for a room they Will charge double cause they can, knowing you are desprate. Be smart gett pants with zipers fint leave stuff in the open and Only leave your bag if you can lock it.

Good tips, I always book the first night online/phone and then the rest at the property as that’s usually the cheapest :)
