Aww I'm sorry to hear you had a bad fall, I'm so glad it wasn't a broken leg! Although you had horrid pain and could of done with that!!. Great confidence video, I absolutely love ground work and think it's so important for yourself and the horse. I'm not lover of gadgets for lunging myself, so always lunge naked (horse) other than a bridle. You can absolutely teach a horse to work low and long and have a good stretch on the lunge without being put there from a gadget. My dude does it so naturally now and he absolutely loves a good stretch on a lunge. I just taught him that every time his head went down I praised him up massively and in his head he was like, oh that's a good thing, and then learnt himself that he felt good. I see nightly with his head down a couple of times and you gave praise which was great, so he will do it naturally and you just have to over do it with the praising and you will see he will start to do it more 👍. I don't blame nightly with not liking tenson, not nice for him. Take care until next time ❤
He is very quick to tell you when he doesn’t like something, you can literally see him get all confused and start to panic because he doesn’t know the answer to the question. He does it when tied up sometimes… he’ll pull back and then freak out at the pressure and then just keep pulling until something breaks (either the lead rope, bailing twine or head collar). He’s just a sensitive chap that needs lots of reassurance at times but then don’t we all x
Bless him, I guess putting anything on him that's using muscles he isn't used to, with pressure that he isn't used to, can confuse the hell out of him!. As I say i for one prefer to have them lunging naked and let them stretch naturally and when they want to stretch to, also they learn to balance themselves naturally without something in there way. I know most gadgets help with all that, but I'm just not into all that personally. Anyway I think your doing great with him tho, it's really not easy retraining and especially a horse that needs so much reassurance but tbh that does surprise me with a tb lol. I'm just pleased that you both wasn't really hurt and lunging over fences he isn't sure of is a fantastic way of getting him used to the colours 👍
I recently had a crisis of confidence as regards handling my horse (he's an unsound pet) and I found that how I talk to myself when handling him makes a huge difference. Also, being prepared for what I need to do. Silly me forgot his stallion chain yesterday and I won't make that mistake again. I hope that you get your mojo back and that you and Knightley go on to have more awesome adventures.
Oh absolutely, i think its amazing how they respond to the voice. Oh nooo, sorry to hear that! It takes ages to build up yet so quickly to lose doesn’t it. Very frustrating but its all part of the learning process so im told 🙈 Hope your stallion behaves for you next time x
@@TheVocalEquestrian He's a gelding but the chain gives me more control when leading. I have to lead him through two large shared paddocks (fields?). He's the horse in my profile photo and 16.2hh.
Glad you hadn't broken your leg! What is it with horses and fillers?! If you built a jump with red wings and red poles they wouldn't look twice, but a red filler, they're all OMG, I'm not going near that!!!!! 😱

Literally 🤣 They are funny! I’d love to live in their head just for 5 minutes to see what they see 🤣
@@TheVocalEquestrian I swear they're trolling us!!! 😂😂
