    Noah is one of the miracles in the world of modern-day medicine who is surprising doctors every day.
    Noah was not meant to be born since his parents were advised to terminate the pregnancy at 5 different times and they were absolutely devastated but Noah’s parents went on to keep him.
    As early as 12 weeks into the pregnancy during a scan, they identified there was a problem with Noah's development and had to go get the doctor for verification. Noah's parents were confused about why they had to consult with the doctor when they could see their baby on the screen and seem fine.
    Then subsequently Noah's mother had to go through an MRI scan and a lot of scans to make sure of Noah's condition. They found that there are serious complications in his brain. The diagnosis result showed Noah had a Porencephalic Disruptive Cyst condition that destroys the brain.
    Doctors believed that Noah would not survive and had issued a non-resuscitation order which means Noah will not be made to breathe if he doesn't breathe.
    Noah's parents went through a harrowing experience when they had to plan for his funeral before he was born as they do not want to lose any time whatever little that they get to be with him after he is born.
    Noah not only proved the doctors that they were wrong but also kept up his parents faith. Noah's condition has improved greatly as he grows and also his parents are determined to fulfill all his dreams.

    My causing was born with hydrocephaly, he only has one hemisphere of his brain, he managed to go to school, high school, get a collage degree get married and he now has two children, his IQ is normal, the side effects is that he needs medication to control random epilepsy episodes, but aside from that he lives such a normal life that we easily forget he only has half a brain. Kids brains are amazingly resilient! I read a study about how kids who had hemispectomies (excuse the spelling) to relieve epilepsy symptoms, which involved removing one of the hemispheres, completely regained all brain function, effectively relearning anything they lost using a different part of the brain. It’s absolutely amazing how awesome the brain is especially with kids!

    My aunt was born with severe brain damage. My grandparents didn't have any familial support (both were Holocaust survivors, and none of their parents survived, my grandma lost all of her siblings, and my grandpa lost half of his), and since it was the 50s/60s, there was very little research and knowledge on how to deal with these kinds of things (i.e. brain damage, autism, etc). They also had 5 other children making it even harder to care for her, so she spent her time in a mental hospital. She passed away at 27, and I am named after her (my middle name). It makes me so happy to see how much medicine and knowledge of these types of birth defects has grown so that people like Noah can grow up to live happy, fulfilling lives. I'd like to think that if my aunt was born in today's day and age she would have survived.
    Noah seems like an amazing, smart, and wonderful boy. His smile and energy is contagious, and he has amazing, wonderful, and loving parents.

      They had terrible quality of life because the carers didn't really know what to do becides keeping them clean and fed.

      It's called neurogenesis and it happens all the time. It's more efficient in babies because they have more stem cells floating around in their blood. Stem cells are the precursor to any cell in the body (including brain and nerve cells). My mom who is only 61 has dementia and I want to get her stem cell treatment where they inject you with fetal stem cells to repair damaged tissue in the body. I'm hoping she'll grow a ton of new brain cells after the treatment.

    It's amazing that his brain has grown so much - I think his parents are doing so well giving him experiences that use and develop different parts of his brain. It will be interesting if his brain ends up with a structure similar to what most humans have or if it will be something unique to him. I suppose different parts will specialise for different tasks but that is really just speculation. However his brain grows he is definitely an inspiration and I wish him all the best.

    These titles are so misleading. He wasn't born 'without' a brain; he always HAD his entire brain. It was compressed due to the extreme hydrocephalus and, once that was resolved, expanded to fill the space.

    • @majellawalsh5883
      @majellawalsh5883 3 роки тому +6

      I been saying this for years. It was there but his CSF fluid was covering it.

    • @phtpl65078
      @phtpl65078 3 роки тому +14

      Not how it works, hydrocephalus ≠ porencephaly, it's not the same thing. Hydrocephalus is a generalised cerebrospinal fluid buildup around all the 'usual' structures and results in increased head circumference as it pushes the skull bones apart. This child has porencephaly, which is a focal cyst that would have compressed all the developing brain structures but it seems his head wasn't enlarged. I'd be dubious about the 2% claim too because that's not what it looks like on any of these scans, but it's not at all the same as hydrocephalus. So what probably happened was that once he was born and his head/brain grew, the structures largely 'renewed' themselves because newborns have crazy neuroplasticity. Also, there is no such thing as CSF 'covering' and concealing parts of the brain on a scan - the whole point of a scan is to see thought all of the structures, and CSF looks completely different to solid neuronal tissue.

    My Nana was a foster mom for medically fragile children for 20+ years and one time she had a child that sadly when he was born his mother and father left him at the hospital and got up and walked away. He was born with just a brain stem. We all know what that means and he was not given very much hope. He was so smart and my Nana had me go to Walmart with her because anytime I spoke to him he would just laugh and laugh and laugh and my Nana said please go with me so I can get some pictures of him smiling. To hear this story makes me remember him and I hope he’s doing just as well as Noah is.
    My son was beaten by his biological father at two months old and he had such a severe brain bleed that they had let us know that his frontal lobe was dead. Later when my son was about four I believe we went and had them do some more tests and scans on his brain and miraculously they discovered that part of his brain that should not control the frontal lobe or emotions and everything the frontal lobe controls had extra activity because it was doing what the frontal lobe should do. Our brains and bodies are amazing and what is known now about our bodies and our brains is just the tip of the iceberg and doctors only know what they read and are taught but because there’s so much that is unknown there really are things that can’t be predicted.

It's not meant as hate but just to 'teach'(?) the algorithm what I don't want to see. Though I'm not saying there's no people who dislike just to spread hate. There certainly are many who do that. If women trying to conceive could all take Folic Acid every day, that'd be great. My grandma didn't know and didn't; my aunt was born with Spina Bifida and died as an infant.
      My mum did take it after reading about it in New Scientist in the early 90s, I tested positive for SB in utero, but because of the folic acid, I was only born with a miniscule sinus and mild spinal deformities. My legs are a little tight, I have no feeling in all but my big toes and I get backache, but it's a hell of a lot better than life in a wheelchair, or worse.

      @@bigboredthing I think nowadays there's a lot more awareness, my gynecologist told me that I should schedule an appointment before trying to conceive, so when the time came that my partner and I were ready I went in for an appointment and she told me to start taking folic acid and to take it for a full month before we started trying, and to continue taking it indefinitely until I gave birth. My friends all started taking folic acid as soon as they started trying to conceive, too. It's such a simple way to prevent important birth defects. I'm sorry you can't feel your legs!

    I'm glad that his brain grew and whatnot, though I never knew that could happen. I did wonder how he could do what he could do whilst having such a small portion of his brain. Such a sweet boy and family.

    Doctors always ALWAYS give family the grimace news possible so when the patient recovery’s, the patient feels victory.
    If doctors give you a month to live but you die in the next two news, they can get sued by the family for malpractice.

    • @kolliwanne964
      @kolliwanne964 3 роки тому

      That is not true. It is just the honest prognosis. You cant get sued over that, since a prognosis is just a statistical expectation at best, and not a diagnosis.

    Pre-birth stem cells supplying what Noah’s little body perceived as a loss that needed to be corrected for proper function??? I don’t know if this could happen or not, as I’m not a doctor. This is a guess from information I’ve learned about. I was a microbiology technologist and phlebotomist for most of my working life and have always been interested in learning about illness and diseases in the human body, as well as possible abnormalities since I, literally, learned to read.
