Retired HVAC/R TECH. 35 YEARS. MOSTLY INDUSTRIAL, BOILERS, CHILLERS AND DDC CONTROLS. I feel your pain. I've been road hard and put up wet. Many years of climbing, stooping, and kneeling has put me in a situation where I have all the knowledge and can't PHYSICALLY do the job. Besides the fact I'm approaching 70 ys old. With all my troubleshooting of controls and heating and cooling systems, I can watch your channel and know exactly what you're talking about. With the help of my welder/pipefitter son, I'm able to do all my own work on my NORTHSTAR ARROW 8.5 TRUCK CAMPER. 2006 MODEL. Various light bulbs, one water pump, and one set of batteries. I can't complain. I carried 2 jumper wires in my lefy front pocket for my entire career. Also my volt/ohm meter had a set of probes with alligator clips built onto probes. I like your channel because WORK FASCINATES ME. I CAN SIT AND WATCH IT ALL DAY ! LOL 😅
I'm not shocked and bet you weren't either. LOL. I think they die from charging old or dead batteries. I always carry a spare converter under my bed but I've been at it for long enough to know that I don't want to buy one on the road at Camping World. Got an extra repaired water pump, water heater pull off parts and even a spare board for the Refer. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed it. Ds
Another bad converter fixed - well done ! I was thinking that we haven't seen Bill Hilly lately, maybe he could be a good gopher for some of these jobs....? 😉
Man glad you posted this. I have same model rv. Was wondering why my battery kept getting drained… i ended up just putting a noco charger directly to battery, didnt realize my converter went bad… now i can troubleshoot and confirm (and replace)…. Not lookin forward to the belly crawl but will be worth it if it fixes root problem… thanks for the vid…
Norcold over temp recall device, just as bad as their cooling system leaks that start fires.... I use Fridge Defend by ARP and JC Refrigeration Cooling Unit, NOW my nevercool works awesome.
I see an RV parked under the trees in the background. It is great to have the shade, but the bird crap and tree sap is hard to remove from the windshield.
When I converted to Lipo4 and needed to update the converter, I found it was so buried that I couldn't get to it. I ended up unplugging it and adding another converter in parallel elsewhere (closer to the batts).

However, he recommended that you unplug it from the wall outlet and remove the dc wires. Once the wires are removed, you will then need to reconnect the dc wires and plug it back in. This should reset the converter

I could hear the TV for a bit and I was hoping it was the movie from Home Alone.
Do you fix the old converters
Nope
Wish I understood electric like you do I know enough to be dangerous 😅
Do you disconnect the batteries by pulling the wire off the terminal or do you just turn the disconnect switch off?
Disconnect hot wire.
