This team is going to surprise a lot of people. Top 3 in the Metro.

Seems like a big improvement on paper. That PLD contract is a potential time bomb, though. We'll see how it goes for him on yet another team, but Caps should be in the playoffs this year.

It is not easy to retool on the fly because of OVI.
    But Caps have done it.
    2 top 6 forwards,
    2 top 4 defenseman
    Above average goalies earning minimum
Of course there's an element of risk involved with PLD.
But Caps are getting his prime years.
Even if he becomes a 2nd line center, it is still worth it because it is more productive vs a backup goalie's salary like Kuemper's.
Besides, Roy wouldn't have signed if PLD was a problematic player.
    More importantly, Caps got younger.
If Oshie 5.7MM salary is off the books, that would be icing on the cake.

The additions of PLD and Chychrun were huge moves... high risk, for sure, but both guys fit our system so well. And they're still really young. Every player we got we signed is well under the age of 30.
P.S. That Logan Thompson acquisition was a sleeper... that kid is going to be really good.
