    I absolutely love 3:22 because you can see a simple question addressed to Leonard with Teddy looking at him in the eye as to the part of his memory, that physically should function just fine and which he should have no reason to lie about, and instead he completely dodges the question, turns his face away and looks far out the window while defensively asserting: "I didn't SELL insurance, I was an INVESTIGATOR!" and at that moment I just knew that goddamit - not only is he physically brain damaged, he's also lying to himself about the part of his brain that physically does work. It's like that blowhard dude that served in the army, and will claim they saw some hard shit, and then you find out they were just a POG (Person Other than Grunt).

      yup. He's a raging lunatic, really. But because the story is told from his POV, ..... Then we realize WE are raging lunatics. lol
      I think after the incident, Teddy helped Lenny find and kill the second man in the bathroom. Then, after that, Lenny's wife died from heartbreak. Ya know, giving Lenny his "last test".
      Then Lenny went to the mental institution. Maybe he escaped the institution or maybe Teddy helped him leave the institution to weaponize him to kill Jimmy. Or maybe there were others before Jimmy. Or maybe there were others that Lenny weaponized himself to kill, like he ultinately premeditated murdering Teddy and weaponized himself to do so.

    There's a lot of good double meanings to scenes and characters once you know the whole film. Like how Teddy might be totally serious in telling Leonard to not trust Natalie, but it's apparent that given how Teddy and Jimmy were in contact, she probably would know who he was. Therefore Leonard's suspicion would be correct, though Natalie doesn't know that it was a double cross and that Teddy was a police officer.

    If it wasn’t for Leonard purposely getting teddys license plate and tattooing it on his body then Teddy might’ve lived. Natalie doesn’t know who Teddy is, she’s heard the name and may have seen his face before but never put two and two together, yet Teddy has no idea that Leonard did that. This movie is so mind blowing I must’ve watched it 30 times

    • @Onmysheet
      @Onmysheet 6 років тому +4

      He wants the money in the boot of the car. But what I don't understand is that why can't Teddy just take all the money? It's not like Lenny will remember it's in there, due to his condition.

    • @in_vas_por8810
      @in_vas_por8810 6 років тому +15

      I didn't mean that, I mean the VERY first time you watch the movie, Teddy keeps acting friendly, but then he literally admits that hes following Leonard around, he knows about the people Leonard has been around, but yet they don't know who Teddy is. Thats what was creepy about this scene. This just one of the moments where he was clearly telling the truth about Natalie not being aware who "Teddy" is.
      One thing I always used to question is why does Teddy keep making jokes about cars, trying to get Lenny in the wrong one, suggesting to steal Dodd's truck, and saying "wanna trade?" He does this a bunch of times. It was because hes trying to find an opportunity for Leonard to leave the Jag somewhere so he can come back and break into it or steal it. If he could do that, he could take all the money, but he also might feel bad for Leonard so he might have been planning to leave him some anyway. At the end he says "NO!!!! you get half!" He said it as if he was insulted that Leonard thought he was going to take ALL the cash for himself.

  • @Crimson28
    @Crimson28 11 місяців тому +4

    2:35 Those kinds of questions are going to get Leonard in trouble. He’s wearing a suit that’s too big for him and driving an expensive car. When Teddy asks logical questions, Leonard immediately has an answer for everything. He’s self-deluded without even realizing it. Jimmy’s other associates or the police are going catch up to Leonard and he won’t have Teddy covering his tracks. There is no way he can continue to operate without consequences.

    • @zonesquestiloveunderworld
      @zonesquestiloveunderworld 4 місяці тому +1

      Indeed. After he shoots Teddy I imagine Natalie uses him for a while before he inevitably crosses paths with the wrong person or attracts police attention, probably due to something as obvious to us as carelessly remaining in blood-stained clothes and continuing to drive a known dealer's car - as from his perspective, his awareness of himself and the passage of time resets every time his attention is drawn, so like an unquestioning dreamer wandering through an incoherent assemblage of places and events he's conditioned himself to simply accept without question the novel circumstances he's perpetually finding himself in.

    If teddy REALLY just wanted the money then
    A) he could easily break into the jag while Lenny is asleep in the motel, since he knows where he is

      When it comes to Joe, he and Nolan may have had a falling out since he wanted him to play Flass in Batman Begins but turned it down because he felt he should've gotten Jim Gordon's part because he was one of the main characters in Memento and according to Joe, it was "embarrassing" to go from such a prominent role in Memento to basically a minor, expendable character in Batman Begins. As for Guy, no idea.
