Yes! I couldn't remember this band for the life of me either, my brain kept calling endwalker theme "foo fighter adjacent" but didn't feel exactly right...lol
Honestly the band the vocals come from "Architects". Many have pointed out that already. Sam Carter. As a long fan of both I've said the same. Architects is just British Chevelle.
It's fucking great. Funny thing is I had started listening to more of architects before the preview trailer for this dropped and when the full one came out and I heard it, I lost it. It always feels great being able to point out the vocalist from something you didn't expect them to be in.
Maybe it's weird but for at least ShB and EW I almost prefer the trailer versions with the voices and everything. Likely just due to watching/listening to them countless times each, but it fills the lulls of the song expertly and kind of helps to lead the song in a way.
So Endwalker's trailer theme is pretty fun, it's made up for a bunch of pieces. The start is the main Endwalker theme, which then goes to Heavensward and Stormblood. We then get a whole new track we haven't heard most of yet (Wings of Hope), a brief snip of Shadowbringers, then finally back to Endwalker.
@@KatlamosQuickdraw it makes sense though ahah. the "it" is semisilent so it's hard to hear when some people say it. i personally pronounce it as "light motif" so that it comes across more, but even so...
My favorite thing about this trailer is how in previous trailers, our character has always been seen looking up (a gesture symbolizing looking towards the future/hope) and in Endwalker we do the opposite. We the WoL are constantly looking down in this trailer SAVE for the Scions who are now looking up towards the Moon were we're at. WE have become what they look for the future and hope.
As many have said - the song is put together from several other songs (which you have all reacted to I think): Heavensward theme, Torn From the Heavens, Stormblood theme, brief Shadowbringers there if you listen closely... it's essentially a love song to the players who have been waiting for a decade for the ending of the current story arc. That's why all FF14 players rush to tell people to listen to this. Each of us have an emotional investment to certain parts of the story and that just... * chef's kiss * But like you said... It is a really cool song on it's own. Because of the previous reasons mentioned you heard like 4 different bands in it. I believe the main singer is from The Architects (did I spell that correctly? I only know what they shared in the summer).
The Leit Motifs are what I love about all the FFXIV music, its like a game listening to every single track in the game trying to find the leit motifs Soken weaves into the each OST to make a scene come alive and to draw the player back to previous parts of the story where the current narrative is hinted at. The Endwalker Main theme is just a massive love letter to all the amazing fucking tracks over the past 10 years created for the fans by Soken and Uematsu.
Yeah, it does so much to boost the emotion of a scene. Like, the sad theme that plays when we talk to Ardbert, it's the main Warrior of Light theme, just played slower and lower, really pushing the feelings of the WoL in that moment.
That section is my favorite too, especially the lyrical connotation. All sections have their own little story to tell and section, almost specifically "on wings of hope" its about Louisoix Leveilleur. When I first heard the Endwalker trailer, every other expansion songs just clicked like how the shadowbringers "two toned echo tumbling through time" is about our soul and azem and possibly even ardbert as he is technically a time traveler who shares a soul with us as well. ITS JUST SOOO GOOOOD

If you want to shake it up a bit from the a lot of the FF14 requests, a really good track I can recommend is either "serpent eating the horizon", That person's name is", or "Battle of providence" from the bravely series. You taking notes mid song gives me vibes of another streamer that aims to become a loremaster for FFXIV (a WoW refugee) named Pyromancer. I love that passion.
One of the cool things they do for FFXIV is hold player contests: design armor or weapons for tank/healer/etc, create hairstyles (and yes, they end up putting the winners, runners up and honorable mentions of these things in the game eventually), but 5 years ago during the Heavensward expansion they held a music contest. Play your own rendition of the piece entitled Night in the Brume. There were lots of great entries, with the winner being Kara Comparetto, a classical pianist. Her cover was great, but it's not my favorite. That title goes to someone using the in game crafting sounds (hammers, saws and the like) for the most of percussion section. UA-cam never seems to like me posting links so instead, if you search "[FFXIV_HW_Music_JP] Pharrell Nefertiti" it should pop up. Not for a reaction or anything, it's just a cool listen. And if you just search FFXIV_HW_Music you should get most all of the still public videos people submitted. As for suggestions for what music to react to from FFXIV: yes. Just all of it. So much musical variety and honestly none of it that I've disliked. The closest thing was one area in game is freezing cold, constantly battered by blizzards, with the music there feeling totally oppressive. But it just worked; it completely fit. Just like an actor playing a character you hate and cheer when they receive a horrible death on screen. if the actor wasn't doing his job well, you wouldn't hate the character would you? It was in the summer, it felt like 1000 degrees outside... and I wanted to get out of that damn snowstorm and curl up next to a nice, warm fireplace. The most part of that feeling came from the music. I absolutely got tired of it, but I also completely respect it for doing its job. Job well done!
This is by far my favorite part from the trailer 4:21, this woman's singing just pull my heartstrings really hard. I really hope this is a standalone song.
I'm going to go off the beaten path from Final Fantasy XIV to another FF, Final Fantasy 6, and request "Dancing Mad." In an era of 16-bit music, this one stands out as one of the greatest video game tracks of all time. This song really opened the eyes of an entire industry on what video game music COULD be. And it's a long track for something in the SNES era. BONUS POINTS: Also watch the 8-bit Music Theory video explaining many of the nuances of the song. That's a great channel that I think you would get a kick out of, as well.
Here's a few suggestions from a few other games: Transistor - We All Become Bastion - Bynn the Breaker Sonic Adventure 2 - Meteor Herd (tbh, all of the knuckles maps have incredible music) R: Racing Evolution - 04 - Liquid Soul Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete - Fortress Town (all of the town music is incredible) I also recommend the Tower Town theme. The OST/composer has won awards. I could go on forever with this, but I'll comment with some others when I think of them on future videos. Loving the content!
Thanks for doing this! As mentioned on a previous video, this trailer has remixes of some of the other expansion themes. FFXIV has somewhere on the order of 500+ songs, and most of the soundtracks are on spotify. Tons of variation as well, not just rock.
I'm dying for a copy of this song without the voices and game sounds, but even with it I've listened to it a million times. Digging the reactions - looking forward to diving into your other videos too! o/
with FF i like how they tend to mix in older related songs whilst telling the new story in somewhat mysterious ways. and uhm thats pretty much what i liked about Miracle of Sounds music for a long time too.
Your humble ways will take you to heights you might not have thought possible. I literally sometimes just pop in to like your videos if I dont have time to watch.
I like how you said you need to listen to the clean version of it, three months later it's still not out. But maybe by the end of February! So it's great that you're loving it, we'll be hitting you with it again by the time it comes out
I'll just throw this one out there (most likely not going to be a common request): FFXIV Titanias Theme (What Angel Wakes Me) It's one of the more unique themes in the game.
This song is a culmination of what came before it. It has songs from A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers. Endwalker is bringing a close to some of the major plot points of 8 years, and so they included songs from each of the expansions in this one piece. And the male vocalist; if it hasn't been stated already, is Sam Carter from the Architects.
Loving all of your VGM reaction vids Uncle Jesse! Had to come back to this after the launch trailer. I noticed that we went from the song "To The Edge" to the new banger that is "Forge Ahead". I wonder if Soken kept that in mind while making Endwalker's theme!
This song is also special as it contains portions from each expansions main theme as this is the final expansion to this storyline...and it is beyond an experience.
Good news! You can now find a clean version of the song on youtube, there's the shorter Endwalker main theme on Square-Enix's channel and a few people have uploaded a clean version of Footfalls, the full song from the trailer.
I dont know why anyone could complain about the actual trailer effects in this song. It adds SO MUCH emotion to each scene within the trailer. Every time I see and hear any of the musics from this game, I can't help but feel the powerful emotions that come from investing time into this game. FF games will always be one of the only titles(all of them not just this one) that can pull emotions out of me from just its music.
Just caught up with the FF14 story tonight and after watching the trailer itself I rushed right over to watch this. Super interesting that you mentioned 30stM and Evanescence cos I heard similar. As I was listening I was like 'I'm sorry, was this _made for me?'_ cos I was getting old-school Britpop vibes with those opening chords/instrumentation, 00s indie rock with the vocals and drums, and then when the track goes hard it goes into somewhere between like pop punk and nu metal? I was _not_ expecting that when I clicked the trailer, that's for sure!
We sadly don't have a version of this separate from the trailer yet. I'm looking forward to a clean cut of this song almost as much as the expansion itself lmao If you want something more obscure, there's Baten Kaitos, a weird and forgotten gamecube jrpg with (imo) a very good soundtrack. The composer later went on to do all the Dark Souls music! "The True Mirror", "Chaotic Dance", and "Vitriolic A Stroke" are all good battle themes w/ guitar.
Not really a song to react to as its mainly just piano bgm, but "The Warrens" is my all time favorite from FFXIV. Def give it a listen if you need a chill track to relax to. Its a really pretty song
Not joking-I was looking at my YT feed with the Endwalker theme buzzing in my brain when I saw your video post. This thing is an earworm and a half! There’s going to be heaps more the end of November when this expansion releases so prepare for a flurry of new FFXIV requests then 😃
Did you ever get a chance to visit this piece without the VO? It's simply glorious - more so when you realise it has all the themes of each expansion turned up to 11. Soken is a genius.
the thing to take note about Soken is that he is big on motifs, you will see him make a theme and then draw everything else from it. the thing this music is that THERE IS a lot going on, this is the moment when everything we have been through converge, so it has motifs from every single expansion, every theme we have heard before is in there in a way or another.
Thank you, this was pretty cool. ❤️ It'd be nice if you relisten to it when the clean version comes out! If it's worth it hehe, I don't know much about music
if you want to give a clearer listen to that one distorted guitar bit i reccomend "Endsinger phase two" it basically comes back for the very end of the fight and loops around a bit.
Now that you've reacted to the main themes, there is so much other good music packed into FFXIV! Some of my favorites: Zone OSTs: Coerthas Field Theme "Fealty" Amh Araeng Theme #1 "Sands of Amber" The Rak'tika Greatwood Theme #1 "Civilizations" Boss Music: The Weapon's Refrain Garuda OST Sophia's Theme Seat of Sacrifice Theme "To the Edge" (Late game spoiler stuff) I look forward to your future reactions :)
I do have a few requests, though. The expansion "Shadowbringers" has two main themes, one of which you've already reacted to. The other one, "Tomorrow and Tomorrow", however, has a *completely* different vibe: ua-cam.com/video/6zLz8N1KjrA/v-deo.html As well as "Return to Oblivion" from the Eden raid series: ua-cam.com/video/rsX6nxwCZ1o/v-deo.html
The reason this song is so hype is that it’s a medley of all the expansions. Endwalker is supposed to be the end of the current story ark which has been going on since 2012 so this is kind of a final showdown. I honestly get goosebumps from this shit :D I recommend going back to listen all the expansion themes and then go back to this.
If you want something really heavy i recommend "under the weight" . that track rocks (no pun intended). Otherwise one of my favourite tracks from 14 is "rise".
You should check out "Close in the Distance" from FFXIV Endwalker. For many of us in the FF Community, crying when hearing this song is almost a Pavlovian response.
For context, a fair portion of this track is a medley new arrangements of prominent tracks representing each FFXIV expansion thus far, as Endwalker is intended to be the grand finale of the main storyline that has been going on since FFXIV 1.0 (with a fresh main storyline to follow after, because MMO). The "Wings of Hope"/"Higher, oh higher" part people have already deduced is the primary leit motif of the Endwalker OST, given that the preview videos of the towns "Old Sharlean" and "Radz-At-Han" use variations of its melody in very different styles. Going off how other expansions handled such leit motifs, there will likely be a full version of that song that will serve as the credits theme.
Highly recommend tomorrow and tomorrow. One of the most beautiful songs in the game. They have a video on their channel that does contain spoilers from scenes throughout the game, but the only audio is from the song.
If you want to understand some of the theme transitions, I would highly look it up the following: 1) Torn from the Heavens 2) Heavensward Trailer (not Dragonsong). 3) Stomblood Trailer (not Revelations, but you should totally check that out too!) You've already watched Shadowbringers, so I'm keeping that one off the list :P
I'd really love to see what you think about some older FF music. They just re-released a few of them with new arrangements, I think FFIV Pixel Remaster Battle 2 is a pretty good pick to listen to, although I'd be interested to see any of the 90s FFs on this channel. Keep up the great work!
Leave it to Soken to basically take a listener for a tour of every musical style used in FFXIV; from instrumental melodies, rock with great riffs, to epic choral pieces.
This song while being its own thing is also a culmination or homage the the other main themes from past expansions. I recommend listening to "Heavensward", "Brotherhood (Stormblood main theme is a pain to find. It starts at 3:45 in the launch trailer)" and "Shadowbringers (which you did already)"
Yeah this theme is extra awesome because it does have the songs from every expansion. The part where the choirs start with the big church-like sound and the electric guitar over it? Heavensward's theme (a dragon-themed expansion, and the dragonrider is a pivotal character in that). The "Storm of blood" part? Stormblood! Also featuring the main antagonist of that part (blond hair guy with a scythe). The industrial drums you pointed out? Shadowbringers's theme! Or an allusion to it, at least. Same chanting in the background too. This expansion is the final part of the current story, so it's meant to wrap up all the prior storylines, so they make sure you know by putting it in the music.
I mentioned the band "Chevelle" in this video. If anyone was curious, the guitar reminded me of "The Red"

And it's a long track for something in the SNES era. BONUS POINTS: Also watch the 8-bit Music Theory video explaining many of the nuances of the song. That's a great channel that I think you would get a kick out of, as well.
We appreciate you listening to the music man! Support is only natural! Keep it up 💯💯
Here's a few suggestions from a few other games:
Transistor - We All Become
Bastion - Bynn the Breaker
Sonic Adventure 2 - Meteor Herd (tbh, all of the knuckles maps have incredible music)
R: Racing Evolution - 04 - Liquid Soul
Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete - Fortress Town (all of the town music is incredible) I also recommend the Tower Town theme. The OST/composer has won awards.
I could go on forever with this, but I'll comment with some others when I think of them on future videos. Loving the content!
Ooooh. Supergiant has so many great things
Digging the reactions - looking forward to diving into your other videos too! o/
I highly highly recommend The Black Wolf Stalks Again, an instrumental FFXIV song
Reacting to that tomorrow!!
dude i cant believe asmons channel shat on this so happy to be here. subscribed. this music is AMAZING, and sick bodom cover dude
You sly little foxes made him react to the Endwalker trailer. Well done guys, well done.
with FF i like how they tend to mix in older related songs whilst telling the new story in somewhat mysterious ways.
and uhm thats pretty much what i liked about Miracle of Sounds music for a long time too.
This guy is so nice doesn’t even wanna pause the video ❤️ respect
I'm surprised not many people recommended Brute Justice live version, you 'd have a blast with that one!
This medley is still my favourite FFXIV song.
it's a beautiful end to this story, it incorporates parts from every past trailer song
Your humble ways will take you to heights you might not have thought possible. I literally sometimes just pop in to like your videos if I dont have time to watch.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but the singer is Sam Carter from Architects.
I like how you said you need to listen to the clean version of it, three months later it's still not out. But maybe by the end of February! So it's great that you're loving it, we'll be hitting you with it again by the time it comes out
The leitmotif of the violin @4:15 can also be heard from the "torn from the heavens" song
I'll just throw this one out there (most likely not going to be a common request): FFXIV Titanias Theme (What Angel Wakes Me)
It's one of the more unique themes in the game.
Thanks for triggering my PTSD...
@@RohanSpartin Fa-la-la-la-la~
This song is a culmination of what came before it. It has songs from A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers. Endwalker is bringing a close to some of the major plot points of 8 years, and so they included songs from each of the expansions in this one piece.
And the male vocalist; if it hasn't been stated already, is Sam Carter from the Architects.
Awesome that you've been open to new music by new communities (ex: FFXIV). Grats on the 4k, keep up the awesome work man
Been a huge music nerd my whole life, huge video game nerd my whole life, it only makes sense to combine the worlds. Appreciate it.
The male vocalist in the middle (storm from blood, born from blood) is Sam Carter :)
That drum you were talking about was very Snapcase. It was all over their album Progression Through Unlearning
The singer with the solid belts and screams is the singer from Architects, btw
I'm looking forward to a clean cut of this song almost as much as the expansion itself lmao
If you want something more obscure, there's Baten Kaitos, a weird and forgotten gamecube jrpg with (imo) a very good soundtrack. The composer later went on to do all the Dark Souls music! "The True Mirror", "Chaotic Dance", and "Vitriolic A Stroke" are all good battle themes w/ guitar.
This song was created to follow our journey in the game thus does it have bits from every opening song from every expansion.
Not really a song to react to as its mainly just piano bgm, but "The Warrens" is my all time favorite from FFXIV. Def give it a listen if you need a chill track to relax to. Its a really pretty song
Love The Warrens
Not joking-I was looking at my YT feed with the Endwalker theme buzzing in my brain when I saw your video post. This thing is an earworm and a half! There’s going to be heaps more the end of November when this expansion releases so prepare for a flurry of new FFXIV requests then 😃
This song is sung by the lead singer for Architects'. Sam Carter hes amazing. Love that band so much.
Did you ever get a chance to visit this piece without the VO? It's simply glorious - more so when you realise it has all the themes of each expansion turned up to 11. Soken is a genius.
"don't worry, i'm listening to the musi - there's that dragon again!"
LOL
I don't know if anyone pointed this out yet, but the male singer for this is the singer for Architects
the thing to take note about Soken is that he is big on motifs, you will see him make a theme and then draw everything else from it. the thing this music is that THERE IS a lot going on, this is the moment when everything we have been through converge, so it has motifs from every single expansion, every theme we have heard before is in there in a way or another.
Thank you, this was pretty cool. ❤️ It'd be nice if you relisten to it when the clean version comes out! If it's worth it hehe, I don't know much about music
This has alvl the dlc music wrapped into it which is why it sounds the way it does. :)
Man I cannot wait until we finally have the clean version of this song.
holy shit i didn't hear those drums until you pointed them out and its very nostalgic
I've been a FFXIV Player since 2.0 and this trailer really tug at my heartstrings! Also I became a big Architects fan thanks to this Trailer!
Jesse goddamn your voice is so calm, you seem like the chilliest person ever
Lmao thanks, I hate my voice but I appreciate it!
if you want to give a clearer listen to that one distorted guitar bit i reccomend "Endsinger phase two" it basically comes back for the very end of the fight and loops around a bit.
Now that you've reacted to the main themes, there is so much other good music packed into FFXIV! Some of my favorites:
Zone OSTs:
Coerthas Field Theme "Fealty"
Amh Araeng Theme #1 "Sands of Amber"
The Rak'tika Greatwood Theme #1 "Civilizations"
Boss Music:
The Weapon's Refrain Garuda OST
Sophia's Theme
Seat of Sacrifice Theme "To the Edge" (Late game spoiler stuff)
I look forward to your future reactions :)
Dont forget locus
It's your lucky day for To the Edge: ua-cam.com/video/cMmtFUunjs4/v-deo.html
Oblivion and Return to Oblivion are also a jam. They should be done in that order though
The crazy thing is Soken wrote and worked on this while he was in the hospital being treated for cancer .. the man is amazing.
As a little side note, you saw the Trailer from Endwalker because the main theme on his own isnt release yet
I do have a few requests, though. The expansion "Shadowbringers" has two main themes, one of which you've already reacted to. The other one, "Tomorrow and Tomorrow", however, has a *completely* different vibe:

As well as "Return to Oblivion" from the Eden raid series:

The reason this song is so hype is that it’s a medley of all the expansions. Endwalker is supposed to be the end of the current story ark which has been going on since 2012 so this is kind of a final showdown. I honestly get goosebumps from this shit :D
I recommend going back to listen all the expansion themes and then go back to this.
Recommendation: Insatiable from FFXIV Shadowbringers. It's the main boss theme in the expansion's dungeons.
Hmmm reacting to FFXIV content, guaranteed sub.
The main riff at the beginning/end sounds like the same progression as Bad Apple by Basement :)
If you want something really heavy i recommend "under the weight" . that track rocks (no pun intended).
Otherwise one of my favourite tracks from 14 is "rise".
And its remix version "Landslide" from Eden raid!
Side note the vocalist is the vocalist from architects
Highly recommend tomorrow and tomorrow. One of the most beautiful songs in the game. They have a video on their channel that does contain spoilers from scenes throughout the game, but the only audio is from the song.
Ooh, please listen to The Weight of the World, (yes, more FFXIV lol), when you can. Its epic and there are a lot of transitions.
If you want to understand some of the theme transitions, I would highly look it up the following:
1) Torn from the Heavens
2) Heavensward Trailer (not Dragonsong).
3) Stomblood Trailer (not Revelations, but you should totally check that out too!)
You've already watched Shadowbringers, so I'm keeping that one off the list :P
Thanks!
It starts at 3:45 in the launch trailer)" and "Shadowbringers (which you did already)"
oh dude, almost forgot. you might also really like Answers, the theme from the base game
Answers is being uploaded tomorrow!
The part with the woman singer looks like a nightwish song haha
This version is called Endwalker- Footfalls, we don't know how the actual Endwalker main theme sounds yet.
