Ah yes...Moose burgers and Moose Stew...Mmmmm and not to down talk the magnificent time spent in Nature or the wonderful Moose Hunt itself. Great show and thumbs up!
I was raised from the early sixties on moose meat and on the very rare occasion,, going to Fairbanks to eat a beef steak was a luxury. This by far and away is the best damn meat anywhere. I have had experiences both good and bad away from the hunting grounds with them. They are incredibly agile in the snow and humans are not! Even if you are trying to chase them off your property,,,,,and then they turn around and chase you!,,,,lol. I've also had a very gentle cow that kept to a game trail off to one corner of the property that was very addicted to apples, and I even managed to hand feed her halves just before we had to move away from that area. I raised horses there and it was a constant challenge to work with them and keep my fences because working against them certainly guaranteed my fences would be down and I would be chasing horses and fixing them. They sure are tasty though! And I have a great crock pot recipe!
I wish everyone who is anti hunting could see this video. You made some really good points as to why hunting moose here in Newfoundland is so important.
Top it off with the fact that the moose isn't even native to NL. The first moose in NL came from my home province of NB way back in the early 1900's, now there are so many that they have become a problem. You don't want many problems that weigh over a thousand lb's.
i liked the song and we do have a moose hunt here in maine its by lottery drawing my wife got a permit in 2007 and we got a nice young moose that dressed out at 655 pounds was the best eatting animal ive ever had even my wife liked eatting it and she doesent like deer meat at all but she would eat moose meat all the time if we had it
@russfromdodge I was of the understanding that the Island herd was gone and even the Labrador herds were in trouble.Believe me this is good news as far as I'm concerned,a Cape Bretoner here and our last Caribou seen was over a 100 years ago.Moose were introduced as well as white tail deer.
@rubiconsedge My kids were brought up on moose and when we ran out one year we made the spaghetti sauce with beef . They almost spit it out as it was fatty and slimy. Moose is like a very lean beef ,, VERY lean. Once you realize it has no antibiotics, is organically fed, not genetically messed with, has no added hormones, is humanely killed (compared to what cattle and pigs go through even the worst kill is better.) there is no red dye is the meat. Moose is good.
Was on a trip to Alaska and on the train we had some of the most amazingly delicious roast beef. So i asked for more roast beef and everyone laughed. They told me it was moose! So i said "Ok, can i have some more of that moose. It was good!"
@umulius71 Actually, the Highway! Moose are introduced. They were introduced as a source of food for the population over 100 years ago. We had roads 500 years ago. OK the care were not as fast. (Clip clop clip clop) LOL
seen that big work moos he is up around Hinton Alberta at least that was where the logger that was using him said they were working around he had a few photos
Cause the loss of the natural carnivores as bear, wolf, etc. to hunt moose out in the wild, we humans needs to do the hunting to lower the numbers down. I agree with you fully about the hunting term, but I do love mooses!
@rubiconsedge Chicken of course!! No just kidding, a lot like any deer, all depends what it has been eating as to how "gamey" it is. Cooked properly it is as good as any cut of beef.
@Tosca721 oh and by the way, I hunt Elk and deer. Haven't graduated to Moose yet but I LOVE it all! Raise fuzzy bunnies to eat too... At least I know what is going into it. Have you ever came face to face with a LARGE animal... in the wild? An animal that could kill you? I have a couple of times and it's enough for me to say that IF my freezer is getting low, i'm dropping it so i can keep eating 'good, healthy' food!
@sdzoo2000 I was wrong about the NFLD caribou being extinct (the Nova Scotia herd went extinct just over a century ago)but the moose was INTRODUCED to NFLD,it was not a native species to the Island.Yes,moose are native to the USA and you may not realize it,but the USA is NOT part of Newfoundland!!!
@owahlund the song is called moose hunting and the Band is a legendary group of fellow Newfoundlanders they are called "buddywasisname and the other fellers" it's a Newfie slang it's like if a friend asked you who that was but you couldn't remember his name so you say "oh..that's uh buddy wasisname"
there used to be a lot of moose in northern ontario, not sure about now, too many guys from toronto shooting moose, cows, bulls, anything on the farm that moves, a farmer put a sign on his cow so that it wouldnt get shot
Good reply sir , thats exactly what I was thinking ....I'm from BC we got many moose here and strict regulations to abide by ..only the natives can legally take game when they want ...
I have some really good native friends that live out on the Reserve near Lillooet B.C. ...Some of the most decent, real people I've ever had the privilege of calling friends ..Some of them do use their Native status to take deer and moose out of season . I've never known of any of them to abuse this and over hunt. But at the same time killing pregnant doe & cow in the spring kinda does go against the grain, so I do agree with your comment as a more practical way to manage & maintain a healthy population of ungulates & etc...
that pic of the moose on the flightline was taken on Eielson AFB in Alaska!! i lived there for 4 years, and the pic is pretty accurate :P they end up on the fllightline all the time lol
@dylanolson107 Erm... there are an estimated 850,000 to 1 million moose in Canada. They're not even threatened, let alone endangered or close to extinction. Like recreational fishing or logging, moose hunting is a practice that can go on indefinitely, as long as the population is managed and retards don't go around poaching beyond their limits. I'm not currently a hunter of any sort (haven't gone out for more than a decade), but I can't take issue with the folks who do.
In North Western Ontario the moose numbers are very low... some believe it is because all the deer giving our moose brain worm, I however believe they need to reevaluate the tag draw system... it obviously doesn't work to sustain or increase population.
@Alexmcgruer3 So you dont get me wrong, i have nothing against hunting.. By all means, hunt intill it grows horns out your forhead. :) I got my hunting/wepon licence not so long ago. Im going hunting to...soon.
Nothing wrong with having a season to hunt moose. Without hunts they over populate and get decease's and starve. The price of licence helps protect them and maintain areas for them when not in season and brings business's in the area income. Rutting season is the most dangerous time to be around moose. They are out to find a mate and NOTHING gets in their way, as they become oblivious to anything else around them. but lets not blame the moose for how people act.
@blueridgedew Maybe they are, but still, our eyes are placed in the front, like most predators. That proves we were made for hunting in at least a little bit. Meat is filled with proteins and humas didn't come up with the idea of growing vegetables at first. Meat was a energy resource for our species And we are omnivores, that we are made to eat both vegetables and meat
My life is about hunting and fishing...its in my blood...not worth living without... we have moose alot of them here in Sweden..I have shot 33 until now..better we get them and eat that delicious meat than the damn wolfs get it...
skepperstad I found that people who hunt and kill animals never have gone to war, so instead of killing the enemy they play their own little war games and kill defenseless animals, which they think makes them feel like a man
If you come to bear country and you don't want them in your yard, then it befalls on you to not entice them. People let them get close so they can see them afeel they are somehow Dr. Doolittle, but it only tells the bear you are not to be feared, especially when you leave food out for them. Not all do this, but enough that it tells the bear there in a good area for easy pickings. Bears are just acting like bears, humans are acting like idiots.
@rubiconsedge "rubiconsedge" is right, its so good, ive never hunted one yet but i am applying for my tag, but i have a friend who has caught some and had fondue with it, i'll tell you its my favorite kind of meat
But driving accidents are not their fault. It's humans building many roads on their home. The victims are executed by the criminals in Alaska. It's very unique.
Ah yes...Moose burgers and Moose Stew...Mmmmm and not to down talk the magnificent time spent in Nature or the wonderful Moose Hunt itself.

great song and there where some big moose in there.. luck for those boys to get them

Funny how animals are living creatures but plants aren't.
Anthony Thorp you think plants aren’t ALIVE?!????
@@saltyfrenchfry1025 I think it's odd people who are against killing animals have no problem killing plants.
This is great, I am singing and dancing so gayly right now

In NH you have to enter a lottery to be able to hunt moose, and the number of tickets can vary year by year.
Where can I get this song??
What is it called?
Thanks for the clip/elkhunter from Sweden
that pic of the moose on the flightline was taken on Eielson AFB in Alaska!! i lived there for 4 years, and the pic is pretty accurate :P they end up on the fllightline all the time lol
Ah, newfoundland music, its chicken soup for the soul, like our land it's heart warming to the bone
Good stuff! Moose is yummy!
@amthebadman I was wrong on the caribou being extinct in NFLD.They went extinct in Cape Breton NS,where I'm from over 100 years ago.
Moose loves you like yr wife and children love you. If you are a glutton, put your knife on your throat.(proverb)
@TravisDrago Was it from Hearst On?
@TravisDrago the moose in harness was actually raised by my sister inlaws grandpa

@russfromdodge I was wrong. There are still caribou in NFLD.
:48, how in the world was that guy able to get that close to the moose?
@rubiconsedge honestly at times, I can't tell it apart from beef. You should try moose burgers if you ever get the chance.
I also love moose...right besides me mashed pertaters!
Pass the gravy!
Got Moose?
Those things are huge
They aren't "things"! They are wonderful creatures that shouldn't be killed for fun by retarded dumbass "hunters".
But they're delicious
there r moose in the wild as big as horses!! clydesdale horses to be exact!!!! weighing in as much as 1800 -2000lbs!!
No. WE'RE not wrong matey...
