As somebody who recently completed the trophy on Xbox, I can confirm its pain. For any masochist who wants to win this trophy. Do 1 or 2 chapters a day. It's a nice way to pace yourself without burning out and quitting. Also if you're struggling to get headshots within a time limit, try doing the flick-up method. (Once you aim at an enemy, quickly flick up your mouse or controller and then quickly take the shot) Hope this helps.

I'm not sure, to be honest. I did each objective for every playthrough because that's what i had to do the last time i got the trophy. if they changed it, i feel bad for not knowing. As for the weapons, yes i remember before they gave us crap weapons and it sucked
It was insanelly harder. There are missions that you have to count on your horse speed, and you didn't even had no items to boost, feed or heal. Some patch around 2020 changed things and let you have your guns and items.
I did this trophy recently and now that you ve mentioned it there were a couple of missions were i knew I didn't complete all the requirements (some I completed in first try ) and yet I took the gold, but msost of them wouldnt give gold if you didn't complete all the requirements you completed in your first try. There was only one mission that frustrated me, I tried it a couple of times eithout getting the gold, was the mission with arthur and Micah where they steal the carriage, for some reason i wasn't quick enough never made it before 6 min mark,even though im sure I was pretty fast every time.
This series motivated me to go back and finish getting my last achievement... this dreaded one. But with some incessant raging, sleepless nights, and 4 days of inconsistent effort (which is pretty good since i only started out with 6 or 7 gold medals to begin with), i actually got it. i finally have my 1000/1000G on my favorite game of all time. Great series and look forward to watching your GTA V run (i may join you in that as well, im currently 1570/1750G) 🤝🙌

One thing VERY IMPORTANT ⚠️ I have discovered for those of us who pay attention: if you have let’s say three objectives out of four and you’re missing only one objective, when you go replay the mission unfortunately you will have to complete all 4 of those objectives not just the one you’re missing to get gold unlike in gta 5. That’s where the time-consuming part comes in. I have a round 79 gold missions and I’ve tried many of them different times, and the hardest ones are the ones where you have to complete the mission under a certain amount of time.
On the oil wagon mission you can shoot somewhere and horses will get scared and run-off and then you can just chase them and after get on because the people won’t try and get it back

there are some tips I can give you for gold rush, try to do as many as possible on your first try. restarting a checkpoint does count with the the time related ones and health related ones. the accuracy ones are simple enough just always have enough snake oil and try to get all your shots to land, headshots are recommended as you only are sure you only need one shot. Some missions that have a time limit require you to follow a certain character, keep in mind that the the npcs movement is tied to yours so try to stay close to them. I personally did only a few of chapter 1 and 2, did almost all of chapter 3, 4 (only left 2),5 and epilouge. setting a timer on your phone when a mission starts is p useful too you can also check which ones you've already done such as getting 20 headshots. from press left on the d pad and pressing the bumpers
I'd say that's more tedious. With gold rush, I think if your luck is truly bad it's essentially impossible, as I've had some missions where I'd replay them and get all the objectives perfectly, yet the game just.. wouldn't give me gold. I forget the mission name, but the Chapter 3 mission where you can go fishing with Dutch and Hosea just broke for me after a while. I not only went fishing but caught so many fish I ran out of satchel space, and yet the game simply.. didn't reward me with the objective of capturing a fish. I love it when bugs prevent me from achieving things 👍
Hey quick tip for the oil wagon mission just go to the entrance and shoot into the air and a wagon will run out of there awau from the guards and youll get away scott free
I was doing all these on natural progression…didn’t know I could go back with better gear later…the train box car melee fight without any damage (blocking counts as damage taken) still lives rent free in my head. 😂
During 2021 lockdown I not only 100% Red dead 2 and not only got 70 gold missions but every mission gold, some were very difficult like knocking the guy out on the train without getting hit etc. very time consuming but a great lockdown 😂
@@Trofees I had to use a retry/skip checkpoint trick to get that one gold! i. e. as soon as you get to Anders Anderson in the final car, open the log and abandon mission. then you can skip cutscene. keep doing this until you can skip the checkpoint. you spawn in holding Anders, stow him on the horse and try to make it back to the sheriff in time, and voila! GOLD! (provided you clicked all other objectives)
The fact that you can't skip the ride to even get to the meat of a mission is why I just can't seriously attempt this trophy. I love this game, but....
21:50 for some reason If you don't target the person you're punching and instead simply smash the punch buttom the npc doesn't defend as often and is much easier to knock him off

4:05 i actually thought exactly the same the first time i was burning, stop drop and roll and apparently when you jump on the ground when aiment you don't extinct the fire, disapponted rockstar didnt basic security precautions. Meh

If you want to make this challenge even tougher, play it on the base version of the game before any patches. You would literally start as beginning Arthur in every mission. That means the beginning health you start at, the beginning stamina you start at, the beginning dead eye you start at, the beginning weapons you start with, and like an opened health tonic in your satchel. I got all gold in the first 3 chapters but had to take a break since I was actually going insane. It is ridiculously hard. Thankfully, they updated it and made it how it is now.
@@Trofees I remember that The Sheep and the Goats mission took me a good bit to beat just because I had so little items to work with and that you had to go through the whole sheep herding section just to get to the shootout part. Since you had such little health, the shootout part was tough. Kinda wish they made it like GTA 5 gold medal system just to make it less annoying.
This Trophy was easy for me but finding every animal was the hardest trophy to get cause my last 3 animals were a snake, a pigeon and a crab. There are also some missable animals on Guarma.
Hey, about A fork in the Road - you don't need to watch cutscenes. The mission ends afters encountering a deer, which happens at any junction. It so happens, that there is one on the left of the doctor very, very close to you, giving gold with plenty of time to spare
I’m doing this achievement myself on Xbox. It is terrible. I hate playing through a whole mission and realizing I’ve missed one objective. I’ve been working on everything I can get done in chapter 2 on the side to save a bit of my sanity.
I just started this and The Aftermath of Gensis had me questioning if I wanted to keep doing this because I either didnt have the accuracy, I didnt kill 3 in one dead eye or I didnt finish in 15:30 because of the amount of slow ass hand holding the game does
Don't make this such a huge fuss. Especially when you 're almost maxed out. Finish the game, buy consumables and replay missions. There are A LOT of missions that are laughable. The Only problem with this trophy is the grind. Apart from that, it's nothing. ( good video, keep up)
I was just grinding "Skin Deep" and "Zoologist" for days and just completed today. Going through this video to start grinding 70 Gold Medals now. And this will definitely drive me CRAZY too .
honestly, rdr2 being an amazing game made this like 10x easier for me. i just started a new playthrough as normal and if i didn't get gold on the first try (i did follow a guide, but you don't always get it first try) i would just try it again. it really wasn't bad
Wasn't the hardest challenge for me tbh,the harxest was definitely the finding all animals trophies,it took me literal days to find that damn western bull moose

Im 40medals deep now! Atm doing the guarma missions on that island..and i feel so stressed! Those missions are stressfull(especially with time limit!) Chapter 1&2 gave me a headache..chap 3 was pretty alright..
Did this back in the day on Xbox, but since transitioning to a mostly Playstation gamer I have decided, for some reason, to go for this again. It certainly feels like more of a grind these days, but I only need 30 more. Multiplayer, though...

I'm experiencing a bug where replaying missions causes an unending buffer screen; tried a workaround by swapping the autosave to another game but it doesn't seem to resolve it. It's making replays take much longer if I have to start the game over every attempt, so I took a break with 20 golds left.
i swear it gets harder every chapter especially the ones with time limits. I had to redo Pouring Fourth Oil 3 like 4 times because of the 1 min 45 sec time limit. No way I could have traveled that far in so little time But the good thing is I have replayed this game 6 times without aiming for achievements so I know how every mission turns out and what happens in them
I've done this trophy and I have to say It wasn't that difficult, just time consuming. Imo it was much much easier doing it in a different playthrough than doing replay missions. Before each missions I would craft special bullets and seasoned meats, then load up on tonics. It made each missions much much easier. The only thing I hated about that trophy is when there was a time limit, it took a lot of fun away because I had to rush the missions.
Funny enough first mission all one shot headshots, didn't miss a bullet didn't take no damage and as soon as it ended I didn't get the checkmark for 80% accuracy after five attempts so I left it

Beside the 24 trophies that I need to get, I'm struggling with this one! I got 44 gold medals, but somehow 29 of them disappeared!💀 ( ig the save got deleted ) so I quit. now after watching your video it gave me the motivation to earn’em back So I have 23 gold medals!!!! yyaaayyy!
I did it back in 2020 If you replayed the missions back than you couldnt use your equipment you had to use a given standard equipment which was equivalent to the beginning of chapter 2 Many missions were an absolute nightmare it was an better idea to replay the whole story and do the gold medals in one run which worked better than replaying
Exactly, the Lancaster has WAAAAY more accuracy, fires a lot faster, and still does good damage with express bullets compared to the Litchfield. Seeing him not only use the Litchfield but with 0 condition on top of that made the video a pain to watch…
Oooof man, that's a tough journey you're on. Good luck! Not ALL animals count towards Zoologist, there are rare exceptions and different guides contradict each other constantly (like the island-endemic species of lizards or birds, you can't go back to that area of the game ever again, or some rare green birds in the jungle as they supposedly 'go extinct' when you play as John. You'll also need both Arthur and John to complete, it as the New Mexico animals are required. Main Zoologist tip I could give - look for small animals along any big rivers or waterfalls in the mornings, this advice is especially bird-oriented, they are the most painful ones to get. Get a camp closeby, look for them in the morning for some time, if there aren't any just leave. This is gotta get grindy and annoying very, very fast, so I suggest hunting for different animals each run. I can only wish you luck and patience. If you're going for Skin Deep at the same time you'll need to not only spot the bastards, but also get a clean kill of them, that's gotta multiply the grind by 3 at the very least.

@@Trofees I especially reccomend the Dakota river crossing near the bridge ambush, down from the Cumberland falls and the river crossing down the Roanoke Valley. Those two spots will get you about half or even more percent of the birds. Roanoke spot has a lot of forest animals to find there too. Dakota river spot is amazing for spotting all kinds of birds - pay great attention to rocks that protrude from the river and look to the skies, there'll be a lot of migrating flocks high in the air. Good for Zoologist, can't say much about trying to hunt them that way. Good spots for jungle birdwatching are the abandoned fishing house in the croc-minefield across the Saint Denis bay, and pretty much the entire railpath to Annesburg. Annesburg docks have their own special marine birds and pigeons too. Horned owl has a guaranteed spawn...somewhere, forgot sorry, look the location up, don't bother scouting for it on your own. Bats are flying in the sky at night, best spotted at the battlefield near Braithwate Manor (they are adorable). Iguanas and half the snakes can be found on the island across the Rhodes gang camp. Armadillos and Vultures have special spawn spots too I remember camping for a considerate time. Domestic animals all have fixed spawns, but some of them are much rarer and you'll be camping them for a while, whether you like it or not. I also reccomend keeping track in a notebook/excel sheet, whatever you prefer (notebook is very satisfying to crossout in my opinion). Wish you lots and lots and lots of patience and RNG gods be with you. p.s. in my experience any kind of animal lures or scent hiding lotions are completely useless. You're much faster and mobile on your own and just carefully sneaking around is enough. Waiting for long periods of time is only applicable to the Dakota and Roanoke bird spots and vulture watching. All other times you're either out of luck and the animal didn't spawn, or it went somewhere you won't find. Basically, the best strategy is repeatedly looking at the specific locations, so you don't lose any more brain and nerve cells than you already have. Not sure but I think just camping the day out if the animal didn't spawn doesn't necessary reset the spawn either, so you have to actually travel farther from the location to have it load out of the system. Again, much luck and patience your way.
I recommend getting all the other trophies first like study all animals across the states etc and do this part trophy last from what I’m learning especially if your tryna get the game platinum.

That's exactly what I did. 😂 1 to 2 chapters a day. Also, the flick method was a lot better in rdr1 but it definitely still works in rdr2. Good tips!

The mission with the oil wagon you can easily do by waiting for one of the guys to leave the compound with the wagon.

They shot my oil wagon and I was losing oil all the time 😂 by the time the next part of the mission started it must have been empty 😂

I did it in my second play through and really enjoyed getting this trophy. Didn’t get bored at all.

Hey quick tip for the oil wagon mission just go to the entrance and shoot into the air and a wagon will run out of there awau from the guards and youll get away scott free

During 2021 lockdown I not only 100% Red dead 2 and not only got 70 gold missions but every mission gold, some were very difficult like knocking the guy out on the train without getting hit etc. very time consuming but a great lockdown 😂

@@Trofees I had to use a retry/skip checkpoint trick to get that one gold! i. e. as soon as you get to Anders Anderson in the final car, open the log and abandon mission. then you can skip cutscene. keep doing this until you can skip the checkpoint. you spawn in holding Anders, stow him on the horse and try to make it back to the sheriff in time, and voila! GOLD! (provided you clicked all other objectives)

21:50 for some reason If you don't target the person you're punching and instead simply smash the punch buttom the npc doesn't defend as often and is much easier to knock him off

If you want to make this challenge even tougher, play it on the base version of the game before any patches. You would literally start as beginning Arthur in every mission. That means the beginning health you start at, the beginning stamina you start at, the beginning dead eye you start at, the beginning weapons you start with, and like an opened health tonic in your satchel. I got all gold in the first 3 chapters but had to take a break since I was actually going insane. It is ridiculously hard. Thankfully, they updated it and made it how it is now.

@@Trofees I remember that The Sheep and the Goats mission took me a good bit to beat just because I had so little items to work with and that you had to go through the whole sheep herding section just to get to the shootout part. Since you had such little health, the shootout part was tough. Kinda wish they made it like GTA 5 gold medal system just to make it less annoying.

This Trophy was easy for me but finding every animal was the hardest trophy to get cause my last 3 animals were a snake, a pigeon and a crab. There are also some missable animals on Guarma.

Hey, about A fork in the Road - you don't need to watch cutscenes. The mission ends afters encountering a deer, which happens at any junction. It so happens, that there is one on the left of the doctor very, very close to you, giving gold with plenty of time to spare

I’m doing this achievement myself on Xbox. It is terrible. I hate playing through a whole mission and realizing I’ve missed one objective. I’ve been working on everything I can get done in chapter 2 on the side to save a bit of my sanity.

I just started this and The Aftermath of Gensis had me questioning if I wanted to keep doing this because I either didnt have the accuracy, I didnt kill 3 in one dead eye or I didnt finish in 15:30 because of the amount of slow ass hand holding the game does
I know how you feel. Just skip that mission. There's a lot of easy ones, and missions in epilogue 1 and 2 are almost all very easy
Don't make this such a huge fuss. Especially when you 're almost maxed out. Finish the game, buy consumables and replay missions. There are A LOT of missions that are laughable. The Only problem with this trophy is the grind. Apart from that, it's nothing. ( good video, keep up)

honestly, rdr2 being an amazing game made this like 10x easier for me. i just started a new playthrough as normal and if i didn't get gold on the first try (i did follow a guide, but you don't always get it first try) i would just try it again. it really wasn't bad

Wasn't the hardest challenge for me tbh,the harxest was definitely the finding all animals trophies,it took me literal days to find that damn western bull moose
The hardest part of the platinum for me was starting the online mode and forcing myself to finish every trophy 🤣

Chapter 1&2 gave me a headache..chap 3 was pretty alright..

I'm experiencing a bug where replaying missions causes an unending buffer screen; tried a workaround by swapping the autosave to another game but it doesn't seem to resolve it. It's making replays take much longer if I have to start the game over every attempt, so I took a break with 20 golds left.
i swear it gets harder every chapter especially the ones with time limits. I had to redo Pouring Fourth Oil 3 like 4 times because of the 1 min 45 sec time limit. No way I could have traveled that far in so little time
But the good thing is I have replayed this game 6 times without aiming for achievements so I know how every mission turns out and what happens in them
On my second playthrough I went through a couple of missions trying to get gold. I wasn't even going for any trophy but I hated it so much lol
I've done this trophy and I have to say It wasn't that difficult, just time consuming. Imo it was much much easier doing it in a different playthrough than doing replay missions.
Before each missions I would craft special bullets and seasoned meats, then load up on tonics.
It made each missions much much easier. The only thing I hated about that trophy is when there was a time limit, it took a lot of fun away because I had to rush the missions.

Funny enough first mission all one shot headshots, didn't miss a bullet didn't take no damage and as soon as it ended I didn't get the checkmark for 80% accuracy after five attempts so I left it

Beside the 24 trophies that I need to get, I'm struggling with this one! I got 44 gold medals, but somehow 29 of them disappeared!💀 ( ig the save got deleted ) so I quit. now after watching your video it gave me the motivation to earn’em back So I have 23 gold medals!!!! yyaaayyy!

If you replayed the missions back than you couldnt use your equipment you had to use a given standard equipment which was equivalent to the beginning of chapter 2
Many missions were an absolute nightmare it was an better idea to replay the whole story and do the gold medals in one run which worked better than replaying

I'd recommend the Lancaster repeater instead of the crappy lintchfeild, the Lancaster has way better accuracy and just over all the best rifle

Exactly, the Lancaster has WAAAAY more accuracy, fires a lot faster, and still does good damage with express bullets compared to the Litchfield. Seeing him not only use the Litchfield but with 0 condition on top of that made the video a pain to watch…

Not ALL animals count towards Zoologist, there are rare exceptions and different guides contradict each other constantly (like the island-endemic species of lizards or birds, you can't go back to that area of the game ever again, or some rare green birds in the jungle as they supposedly 'go extinct' when you play as John. You'll also need both Arthur and John to complete, it as the New Mexico animals are required.
Main Zoologist tip I could give - look for small animals along any big rivers or waterfalls in the mornings, this advice is especially bird-oriented, they are the most painful ones to get. Get a camp closeby, look for them in the morning for some time, if there aren't any just leave. This is gotta get grindy and annoying very, very fast, so I suggest hunting for different animals each run. I can only wish you luck and patience. If you're going for Skin Deep at the same time you'll need to not only spot the bastards, but also get a clean kill of them, that's gotta multiply the grind by 3 at the very least.

@@Trofees I especially reccomend the Dakota river crossing near the bridge ambush, down from the Cumberland falls and the river crossing down the Roanoke Valley. Those two spots will get you about half or even more percent of the birds. Roanoke spot has a lot of forest animals to find there too. Dakota river spot is amazing for spotting all kinds of birds - pay great attention to rocks that protrude from the river and look to the skies, there'll be a lot of migrating flocks high in the air. Good for Zoologist, can't say much about trying to hunt them that way. Good spots for jungle birdwatching are the abandoned fishing house in the croc-minefield across the Saint Denis bay, and pretty much the entire railpath to Annesburg. Annesburg docks have their own special marine birds and pigeons too.
Horned owl has a guaranteed spawn...somewhere, forgot sorry, look the location up, don't bother scouting for it on your own. Bats are flying in the sky at night, best spotted at the battlefield near Braithwate Manor (they are adorable). Iguanas and half the snakes can be found on the island across the Rhodes gang camp. Armadillos and Vultures have special spawn spots too I remember camping for a considerate time. Domestic animals all have fixed spawns, but some of them are much rarer and you'll be camping them for a while, whether you like it or not.
I also reccomend keeping track in a notebook/excel sheet, whatever you prefer (notebook is very satisfying to crossout in my opinion).

p.s. in my experience any kind of animal lures or scent hiding lotions are completely useless. You're much faster and mobile on your own and just carefully sneaking around is enough. Waiting for long periods of time is only applicable to the Dakota and Roanoke bird spots and vulture watching. All other times you're either out of luck and the animal didn't spawn, or it went somewhere you won't find. Basically, the best strategy is repeatedly looking at the specific locations, so you don't lose any more brain and nerve cells than you already have.
Not sure but I think just camping the day out if the animal didn't spawn doesn't necessary reset the spawn either, so you have to actually travel farther from the location to have it load out of the system.

I recommend getting all the other trophies first like study all animals across the states etc and do this part trophy last from what I’m learning especially if your tryna get the game platinum.
It will probably end up being the last story mode trophy i get. After that I'll make a separate video for just the online trophies
