I love videos like this. Well done Metro! I will use some of these suggestions. Crow✌️
As you know, less is more! I’ve been trying to get rid of excess without compromising being prepared. These items feel like they are enough. Might add some cash, a piece of paper and small pencil.
This is going to be a big hit with lots of hikers. I carry most of those things but not in the can. That's a great idea and will be buying an altoid can soon. 👍
Agreed!
You the man! Appreciate the kind words and can't wait to see how others modify their kit!
Perfect kit. The Altoids tins are gold. Alot of good odds and ends in there.
Love this! So many different ways to modify based on your needs. Thanks for the positive feedback!!
That's sweet man!! I wish I was that organized!
I used to find myself always sorting through shit at camp. Now, I know all my pods so well that I can easily set up and break down without losing things. After losing all my batteries last year at RRG, I had to get more organized.
Great idea on the Altoids can! I wouldn’t have thought of that.👍
Cheap and easy! That is my motto
All great items in that little can. Might keep a couple of the original Altoids just for my morning coffee breath. Good job Andy.
This kit has been evolving over the years and finally got it where I feel I have everything I need...except a piece of paper, small pencil and maybe some cash in case I needed to catch a shuttle or hitch a ride. Can't wait to see how this kit is redone by others!
Very nice. I like how compact and simple it is. I need to get into mine and trim it down. I like the zip tie idea.
Can’t wait to see your video my friend of how you modify your kit!
Catching up... Great way to store necessary items it's amazing what all you fit in there. Love it. Those tin cans are so handy and you're very innovative
Gotta stay ahead of the curve right? After taking too much on trail, I am determined that less is more. This has been a great kit for backpacking and hope this inspires you!
Wow!! I don’t know that I could get it condensed like that. Awesome kit!! 🦑
Can’t wait to see what you do with your kit!
This is very well thought out! Never thought of the Velcro or zip tie…it’s now added to out kit too! Thanks Andy! Cheers Colleen and Jonny
Awesome! Glad that worked out for you guys. A couple items I want to add are a twist tie (from a loaf of bread) a piece of paper and a small pencil in case I need to leave a note on trail for a party behind me.
Excellent video! If I was you I would add two simple things. Some chart cloth which is easily made at home, we are actually going to be doing a video on it and a water purification a tablet of some sort. You never know when those filters are going to fail. It could save your life. Thanks for sharing, that’s an awesome kit. Keep up the good work my friend
Excellent ideas! Great point to add the water purification tablet! Need to learn more about the chart cloth and look forward to seeing your video. With these kits, the best part is that most items you already have and you keep refining. Have a great weekend my friend!
That's a great little EDC kit, Metro.
Thank you! Less is more and this was a good way for me to keep it contained without just throwing it in a bag.
Banger thumbnail man. I'm so impressed what you fit in that Altoid box LOL. Ear plugs for Senior Hiker! haha
Thanks Taylor because Andy does snore so I'll be using his ear plugs. Lol
Thank you! Already thinking about how to modify this for 2.0. Hikers snore! That is for sure at camp!!
Gorgeous kit, useful stuff! 👌👌👌
Best part is that most of these items are accessible to many people without having to buy anything! Thanks for the support!
This is an awesome kit! Love how everything fits in the tin can! Might need to try this and pare down my kit.
Look forward to seeing your video on how you modify your kit! Will be interesting to see everyone approach to this!
@@MetroOnTheMove hmm maybe I'll do that. Let's see what I come up with
Nice kit! Compact too. Great idea.
Thank you! Hope that this was helpful for you as it has been huge to have this tiny kit on trail!
@@MetroOnTheMove I might need more than one band-aid though. 🤣🤣
Nice kit Metro. I've thought about doing one of these for years and I have held on to a couple of these tins just for that purpose lol. Mine would include a couple of UCO stormproof matches, mini compass, a razorblade which takes no space and very little weight, fishing gear and some fishing line. 👍
Can’t wait to see your video!! 🙌
Thanks for sharing
This is my go-to and hope this was helpful for you!
I didn't know when you got started on that Altoids can that there would be a thousand items in there 🤣
That's a nice set up though hopefully you don't ever need more than one Pepto bismol 🤣
You got that right! My thoughts are if you are out in the wilderness, you are most likely within a day of getting off trail if something happens. No reason to take more unless you are stuck out longer.
Have you ever considered a hand modeling career? LOL!!! Another great video, Metro.
Thank you! I felt for this video, my face could take a break.
Much more robust than what I keep in my Altoids tin for backpacking. Needle, part of a roll of tums, bandaids, Wisp brand or knock-off disposable toothbrush, elastic hair bands for my beard, alcohol wipes, smaller altoids tin which contains ibuprofen, acetaminophen, naproxen, imodium, benadryl, and my prescriptions (enough dosages for my trip) and a cotton ball or two to keep the pills from rattling. I like the idea of adding an eyeglass cloth.
LIke the cotton ball idea! I've found these items in use over the past couple years, and now I condensed it down to what you see here. I want to add a small sheet of paper and a small pencil, along with some cash and sandwich bag twist tie.Hope you are doing well my friend!
Excellent kit.
Nice👍👍
Another great lil item is to carry an extra quick release buckle in case one breaks on ur backpack deep into a trail (ask me how I know) Attach one to ur pack with an extra quick tie strap and use that safety pin to open the tie lock should you need the buckle.
Great advice! I’m sure there is a story behind this!
@@MetroOnTheMove story goes that a couple years ago at the very first step of a 34 km (22 mile) 3 day hike/camp trip, the waist band q/r buckle broke on my then 35 year old relic of a backpack. I 'jerry rigged' it back together and made it work. Got to thinking, what if this had happened mile's into the woods? Since then I've upgraded my pack to a fancy smancy modern day unit and carry a spare buckle. Hoping the new pack does me another 35 years of hiking.👍👍
Love it!
thank you my friend!
Diggin the kit!
Workin on 2.0 for 2023. We will see!
Awesome how compact you're able to get your kit! I always do anti-chaffing, aloe vera and leukotape. Great use on the adaptors so you don't need extra cables!
I keep body glide in the Fanny for quick access. Looking at a new cord that is half the size and more durable. 2.0 EDC is bound to happen next. Best part is that anyone can make this kit so hope this helps others in their adventures.
My kit is pretty similar - you have a couple things I don't, I may need to adjust a bit. I also carry a swiss army knife (w/the toothpick) and a small olight as a back up... Thanks !
I just picked up a mini torch flashlight that is one a couple inches and 200 lumens. Love it! Appreciate the ongoing support and positive feedback!
Like 77! Nice kit! ~RVA~
This system has been helpful to keep things limited and organized. Love that most of these items are commonly found and don’t require a second mortgage to obtain.
@@MetroOnTheMove Amen to budget friendly.
Watched this 4 times in a row now I want the next live stream to be a ditty bag comparison or competition 😆🤣
So...what is in you ditty bag? Sounds funny when you say it like that. Little friendly competition. I like it!
Itty bitty ditty bag bonanza! Coming to a trail near you!
I have multiple options based on day hike or overnight but I'm not ultralight so I can put all I need but usually take way too much. Knives an axe, a saw, a med kit if I hurt myself playing with the previously mentioned tools and some kind of sleep system even if it's a day hike. Usually bear spray or shotgun depending on how deep I go.
And if you ever want to join the Darkside and do a survival/bushcraft channel you can use that altoid tin to make charcloth 😆
I consider myself to be a hybrid...half hiker and half prepper. At least I got my altoid can if it all hits the fan!
No altoids, bro. I would have a fresh mint also. J/k.. awesome vid, buddy
HIKERS STINK BRO! Thank you for ongoing support my friend!
Hahaha.. for sure. No worries. You are doing an awesome job and the knife is what i'm really thinking about sporting on my short treks here in ga. I need a few other items also.
You did a really good job of pairing down what you need for a trip. My mistake is I have enough for several trips. I’m thinking that giving yourself a space limitation with the container is a great way to only take what you need. Great video!
I’ve created several packs for different types of trips. Ultralight, Semi Light, Hammock & Kitchen Sink. I just grab the pack I need for the style of the hike and go from there. This kit is consistent though for all packs.
Nice kit Metro. Lots of Altoids kits on Waypoint Survival channel. Kits for just about anything. Check ‘em out.
Thanks for the suggestion! Will check that out!
Wow! Nice compact kit. I’m curious about the charging cable and adapters. Which adapters do you carry, and where can I get them? Thanks, Metro!
The cord is a micro usb. The adapters, I picked up on Amazon. Pretty cheap, but make to test them as some don’t work with different cords.
Appreciate the consistent support and comments! Thank you for being here!
Well I'm going to have to buy some altoids just to see if my current kit fits in the can. I don't think my emergency wine will make it though.
Love it! This set up is great because most of these items are easy to get. As far as the wine goes, do they make dehydrated wine? 😂
@@MetroOnTheMove Now that's a thought! Someone could make a fortune with dehydrated wine! 😂
I think you could put that together as a kit and sell it to hikers.
We will see!
Is the black bag waterproof that you keep all that in? What kind of bag is it also?
That is the Zpacks Travel Utility Zip Bag and it’s made of Dyneema. Highly water resistant and if you want more waterproof, stick in Ziplock bag. Works great!
dude we need a weight ! i carry somthing very similar but in a 3x5 ziplock type bag.
3.4 oz
What is the bag you carry your edc in?
Zpacks Travel Utility Zip Bag. Had it for several years and has worked out great!
C4YT
This is very well thought out! Never thought of the Velcro or zip tie…it’s now added to out kit too! Thanks Andy! Cheers Colleen and Jonny
After years on trail, these are all items I have found myself either using or wishing I had on site. Might add a twist tie, piece of paper and a small pencil along with some cash. Thanks for the support and positive feedback!
