  • Only The Meteors are Pure Psychobilly!
The Meteors have been hammering out their no-nonsense cranked up rockabilly and rock n roll for the best part of a quarter century. Essentially the Meteors are guitarist/singer P Paul Fenech, legendary man of attitude with a guitar style best described as dangerous.
VIDEO NASTY consists of four tracks recorded at Britain's 'temple' of psychobilly The Klub Foot in July 1987, the band's barnstorming set from the "Night of the Long Knives" all-dayer at the Hummingbird, Birmingham in July 1988 and promos for the singles 'Go Buddy Go' and 'Rawhide'.

Wow this is an amazing performance by the meteors. His singing has so much depth to it, like hes in pain here or something. The melody is carried like a song of mourning, like someone died, or broke his heart, really deep performance. The Meteors Rock OTMAPP!!!!

belairpsycho, actually, that comment of mine was directed to someone specific. This time I made sure to use the name of who this one is directed to. I am quite sure I am not the only one that knows the age and original group without having to look it up. But in spite of his claim, I do know more than gerardogutz.

Uh, when I listened to this, these were harmonious synchronizations of tones that were intended to form a pleasing feeling to the listener. If you didn't get such a feeling, then either you've been listening to too much fucking Yanni, Josh Grobin, John Tesh or some other yawn inducing shit or you're just dead. Even if there is heavy dissonence in the music (such as Sonic Youth) there's still a type of harmony that melds it all together, and I could tell there was definate harmony in this one.

    psychobilly
love it 138 up, 23 down hate it
An eclectic genre of music- a combination of rockabilly, horror punk, punk, goth rock, blues, and bluegrass- mixed with other elements as well. Psychos can be identified by their unnatural, perverse love of old b-rated horror films and their rocking sense of style.

Im not saying double basses arent cool or dont sounds good, and yes the meteors do use em (even in some of my fav's songs of them). What im saying is a lot of bands these days who have a double bass are like; Whooo look how psycho we are, we have a double bass and sing about zombies, we are like totally psychobilly! The meteors were just plain psycho from the beginning, i mean just the stuff the sang about or the atittude

orly? I believe that The Koffin Kats have a higher ratio of horror-themes music than The Meteors. Just because it's the first psychobilly band, doesn't mean it's the best or the biggest definition as definitions of music change. People considered Elvis rock n roll, does that mean that AC/DC isn't rock n roll?

yeah well, listen to this "buddy". Joe cocker didn't write "with a little help from my friends" either. nevertheless its his best song and even the beatles admit it. And why the meteors did a better job? Well to be honest i think sam sam's version is a bit on the whooshy side, and i think the song is ment to be raw.

I'm tired of either uninformed or snobbish shetbags who say that hip-hop, electronica punk, heavy metal, rock n' roll, country music, ect. are not music.Just because you can't appreciate something doesn't mean its music.I don't like Nickleback,Martina McBride,Maroon 5,Craig Morgan,.38 Special,or 3 Days Grace, yet I'm not going to say "They're not music" or even that they suck (usually, its the songwriting I can't stand, the musicianship of all above groups are awesome, just don't like their styles)

Those guys may technically be "great" musicians, but they fail to garner any real excitement in me, just notes and rhythms. The lead singer in the Meteors may not be the best singer in the world, but he conveys attitude, something that is very important in the performance of rock and many other types of pop music. If you're singing opera, his voice would be shitty. For psychobilly, it works. My hearing is ok, I can distinguish between gravely and pristine voices.Btw, Josh Grobin's style sux.
