This reminds me of a Spelling Bee game in the 90s where an older lady guessed the price of a DVD movie as $475. She said 475 and Bob thought she meant $4.75 - then she said "no, four hundred" and Bob yelled "FOUR HUNDRED SEVENTY-FIVE DOLLARS FOR THAT VIDEO?!?" The actual price was $20 - and he said "Gee, and you were so close too, you only missed it by four hundred fifty five dollars." That clip used to be on UA-cam somewhere.
I would not want that dining set, either. While the furniture is great, those dishes have gold-metallic paint or leaf. Meaning NON-Microwaveable. My mother has everyday dishes with silver metallic paint. They were fancy and useful -- before microwaves. Now they are useless if you want to warm up any food while using them. I suppose that is why my mother is on her third microwave in 10 years.
This is what happened. He saw the dining room furniture and said in his mind. "Really! I finally get on the Price is Right stage before I die and boy oh boy this has got to be one of the worst disappointments I ever seen. I'm gonna send that yodeling dude so far off that mountain out of pure unadulterated bitterness just to feel better!" 🤣
A funny remake of this would show transition of a smiling mountain climber gleefully on his way to becoming more anxious and agitated waving his pic ax in each cutaway shot and in the last shot before he goes over the edge showing him crying filling out a will.
Okay Yodely guy, you can stop here. There's no way that watch costs more than 375 bucks. Stop here! Don't listen to that old guy, he doesn't know how much a watch costs! STOP!!! (Crash) Ah, we should've gone to Plinko like Cleveland.
Imagine if that had been a Swiss watch. Not only would he have been closer to the actual price, but it would've fit with the Swiss Apline theme of the game well.
According to my mom, when I was a baby, I would cry every time this game was played. Like, the yodeling wouldn't even be going yet and I would cry. I'm 22 now and still don't like it. I watch the videos on mute haha.
I used to go in the other room when Cliffhangers was played because I didn't want to see the yodely guy falling off the cliff. It was 1991 when I got back watching Cliffhangers being played.
If you never have before, I highly recommend looking for the playing with the contestant singing the yodeling song, with the sound on. I guarantee even you would get a kick out of it. 🙂
If this describes the way the Blue Jays threw away their Wild Card game against the Twins tonight by pulling Berrios for Kikuchi early in the first....this was it.
Even Bob knew he was way off on the price! I could tell it was probably a cheaper watch, judging by the fact that most of the items in this game are under $100.
@@jacksonrailroad Back in the early 80s there was an episode where the third item was $62. That was before my time, but you can watch the clip elsewhere on YT.
It's not his fault that Glenn killed Yolely Guy. I mean he's cardboard so YG can't die. Everybody knows that. Seriously? I rather take what you said back and apologize to Glenn right now! 😡 I mean Yodely Guy's the best yodeler on TPIR. It's very nice to say that he's a innocent angel. But sheesh. How can you say that?
That look you get when you're not playing for the prize you want so you throw the game out of spite. He had no interest in that dining room set whatsoever. That was so savage it's hilarious 😅
I miss the old prize cues, like this one for the dining room set where this guy is playing Cliffhangers, I miss the classic music cues for the smaller prizes, and for the cars as well, I wish that Stan Blits would bring some of the classic prize cues back to the Price is Right.
Some of these contestants past & present think in big numbers. If this was anything like the Commodore 64 version of TPIR, Yodely Guy would’ve been fine; but it would’ve taken a miracle for that to happen.
2:48 They seem to be singing along Also known as step 24 2:42 He still singing so he still alright 2:15 alright the yodely guy will move 1 step for every dollar you missed the price 2:22 that’s right I’m going to sit down
2:20 - 2:48 most yodeling I heard in a while. But seriously if he had just said 50 bucks he would have still been in it, but then again I think he was trying to lose on purpose.
And also, the sound effect at 2:49 came from “Smash the Mirror” from the rock opera “Tommy” as done by The Who. If you listen to the album, it will sound like it was used in this game.
If he'd guessed $50, the mountain climber (Yodely Guy as Drew Carey calls him) would've stopped at the very top of the mountain, so he probably would've lost on the next item anyway.
Why is it that the contestant is always disappointed or "fakes enthusiasm" if the prize isn't a car or $10,000? A Living room set or a vacation is still awesome to win.
Ironically, when his first guess was $2,500, he wasn’t that far off. He just had the decimal point in the wrong spot. If he had said $25.00, he would have been right on the money.
It's bad strategy to throw a pricing game because you don't like the prize. If you don't want (or don't want to pay taxes on) a prize you can forfeit it after the show, but just throwing a game means you're potentially in a worse position for showcase showdown.
This has to be the hardest TPIR pricing game to play. It's very unforgiving of mistakes and anything but a 100% right answer runs the risk of sending the yodeler off the top.
@@willieburruss4562 And Clock Game and Double Prices are even easier-- one simply requires zeroing in on the price by hundreds, then fives, then tens, then ones, and the other simply has you picking a price and hoping it's right.
He sent Yodely Guy into the next millenium!
Yep, I think 325 steps will do that.
He got him from Florida all the way to the Middle East on foot. :)
This is why Barker was the best... he gave him multiple tries, and then sat... just freakin hilarious and why TPIR was always fun watch with Bob...
Yeah Drew Carey should have never been on the show, he ruined it since 2007, he’s extremely boring and loud and annoying.
$350!?! Not only did he miss it by so much, but the cliffhanger fell and went to hell

It was funny at the part where Bob Barker and Clint sat down whilst Yodely Guy made his way up the mountain.

You and me both. I don’t remember if it was the fact he’s climbing to his death or, the yodeling, or maybe both
