Jared, thank you for doing this podcast. Thank you Holli. Holli is my wife’s sister. This has truly touched my heart. Holli and her family are no normal family. They have always inspired us and others around them. We spent many hours on our knees in prayer as we heard that they were in Lahaina and hunkering down in a chapel. As wildfires engulfed the little island of Maui. They witnessed things and were spiritually fed as they witnessed that we are all one huge family of brothers and sisters. My brother is the stake president on the north shore of Oahu. They still continue to house, feed, and provide for the folks displaced and harmed by these terrible fires. He has spent hundreds of hours personally helping in any way they can the people of Maui. The church has provided millions of dollars to that beautiful little area within minutes of there being needs. I belong, no we belong to the Lords true church. His glorious kingdom here on earth. Thank you to all those who’ve served the needs of others no matter where they are. We all need to more than ever serve and minister to our brothers and sisters everywhere! God bless the ohana of Hawaii! God bless us everywhere. Please send thy son Jesus Christ. I love our Savior so much. Thank you for this podcast. It helps me to continually realize that God is at the helm. We need to honor, respect, and love Him ,and His glorious son, Jesus Christ! Thank you Jared, Holli, and to all. Pray for our family world wide. Our earthly ohana. May the Lord help us all. Wherever we may be! God bless!
Maybe your brother would know, what is the best way to get resources to these families.. the extras like feminine supplies, diapers, formula, etc? I'm sure many don't want to donate through government organizations. Can you ask your brother for us?
Temporal preparedness tip-- About ten or so years ago, Herriman, Utah-- in the southwest corner of the Salt Lake Valley-- experienced fast- moving wildfires that displaced a lot of the city and burned some homes. A nearby stake center served as the Red Cross emergency shelter location. We visited a day or two later to see what needs there were. There was actually only one family staying there; they had moved here only 2 weeks earlier, from out of state, had no family around, and had not yet made any friends to lean on. They had escaped with only the clothes on their back. I was very surprised at the things they most wanted-- Lip balm for dry lips. Hair elastics. Nail clippers. Pajamas. The pajamas were mostly for psychological reasons-- staying indoors 24/7, there was no sense of daytime or nighttime, and all semblance of normalcy was gone. Having pajamas to put on at a certain time-- especially for the younger kids-- provided a delineation between day and night, creating a bit of pattern and structure. I went home and did two things to my physical preps-- 1- sat with my husband and created lists for grab-and-go situations- what to grab if we had 5 minutes notice, 30 minutes notice, 3 hours notice. 2- To our 72-hour kits I added nail clippers, hair elastics, and lip balm.
I have learned that to have a blessings we need to be a blessing. Not just in giving, doing, and rendering aid but in the receiving. To be able to say thank you then turn around and help someone else.
I heard that the Church donated $1M to the Red Cross for use with the Lahaina catastrophe. The first on the scene are going to be the locals. It's great to hear the local members were able to help so well.
That’s so interesting. I had an experience lately feeling displaced. I wonder how many other people have been having this kind of experience.. I was with my son. I learned that Fire and Water was the most important in emergencies.
Ten years ago we lost our home to a fire. Just our home not a whole community of homes. The only thing that mattered was that our children got out safely. Every single day I thank my loving Heavenly Father for the fire. Why? Because 9 months later when our home was rebuilt and we were moving in. My husband was laying in ICU recovering from a double bypass surgery and his health failed. No way did I know my husband's health would fail in his 50s that he would be forced to go on disability. But the Savior absolutely knew and created a brand new home for him to heal in. Trust in the Lord!!!
I understand the feeling, we were in California on vacation during some major fires we were stranded on the freeway at a dead stop. Though there were 100's of 1000's of people all around us but we felt completely, completely alone!! No able to get around or move in any direction. It was very humbling and frightening.
I’m a Hawaiian member and one of the coolest things that literally nobody talks about is that every single church building survived the fires. And the closest they got was the lawn as far as I know.
This has me thinking ahead about what things I might be able to help with should the need arise. Perhaps your most important video to date. Thanks, Jared.
Thank you Jared Thank you Holli Your words pierced my heart I thank the Lord for people like you willing to share your story and experience Your testimony is so much appreciated God Bless you and your Family for reminding us that our Father in Heaven is in total control and how special we all are
Thank you Holly for sharing your experience on Maui ~ .such an amazing memory you will always have. You touched my heart as you told of your family. God bless you!
I am not sure how I would deal with a tragedy like what happened there in Hawaii. I have experienced a lot of different situations throughout my life, but not knowing where to go or losing a home, would be hard. I know that despite not being employed right now, I know God will help my wife and me through our struggles and I will eventually find employment, and be able to move forward. I would imagine that there are lessons to be learned throughout these times of difficulties that are happening. We need to come together through the spirit of Jesus Christ. Thank you for the great video and insight into what is happening.
I watched the entire video and I don't think she could have been any more grateful and thankful and full of humility! I'm not sure that the word "pampered" is even applicable in this dire situation that so many have experienced. 🤷🏻♀️

God is so good!
The right number is 380
Be thankful you had a place to rest, though you are not in a ideal situation: a pampered mormon! Should have called the local bishop.

Marie, you apparently didn’t get the big picture! Sorry! Maybe you should watch it and listen this time! God speed!
