There are a few corrections that need to be made, this has been my profession for 20 years.... 1 - It is ALSO about the inner insulators, they too must past burn testing. 2 - PLENUM is made out of PVC, it just has a different compounds. Plenum is still PVC. 3 - Plenum still produces toxic fumes, such has Halides. It just produces LESS toxic fumes. 4 - UL is not “global” it is for the USA, they don’t use UL in Europe, China, Etc. 5 - Not every Plenum cable has FEP, in fact very few Plenum cables contain FEP. I can only think of a couple FEP Plenum cables (one is the CL1 Lutron 216 cable, but that is all I can think of)
You wouldn't call UL 'global' just because its based in the US? They have operations all over the globe, and their standards can be applied for/used by non US nations. That would be like saying ETL/Intertek isnt global because its in the UK, even though it also tests to US bound products as well...I think its fair to call them global.
Dude, like really. Can I just say you are a GODSENT! The way you explain everything is so clear and concise and the animations really drive the point home. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I'm a Visual Learner and your videos have changed my life. Thank You sir! I know you spent a lot of time making these videos for us you're so appreciated! I'll show support by buying some Merch from you!
JUST ANOTHER COMMENT LETTING YOU KNOW YOUR VIDEOS PROVIDE A LOT OF GOOD AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION IN THE MOST SIMPLEST AND EASIEST WAY ANYONE COULD. THANKS .
I did an electrical course for a year. Anyone interested in advancing their IT infrastructure/networking knowledge can’t recommend an electrical course enough. So much transferable knowledge
I can't explain you how much your channel helped me understand the the concepts that seem very difficult for me all the time.. You always save my a*s thank you so much as your channel has provided me a lot of quality stuff in very less time I really appreciate your work hope I'll meet you one day to thank you.
Excellent. I'm not ashamed to say that you explained this even better than Mike Meyers (nothing personal Mike). By the way, we're still waiting for you to start a course online...
When i used to run cable for a living when ever we ran any Cat5 cable in a building in the ceiling or walls they always used plenum cable just so we would not have any issues with the fire chief allot of the cables we where running where new office buildings every once in a while i was at an existing building like Chick-fil-A headquarters just outside Atlanta i dont miss thous days. LOL
@@klwthe3rd Usually only big one story collages or office building's from wall to closet we would build the rack,s and install them from the ground up and terminate & label everything man this was back in 2000, 2001 i got layed off after 9/11. they would give us big boxes of Cat 5 or Cat 6 depends on the contract i guess. also did a bunch or fiber coax and bundled cat five cables make a crap ton or T1's
I will request explain video for WPA Enterprise, RADIUS and SNMP. Thanks for simple and realy understandable videos for explaining IT basics, it's realy helpful!
In a lot of new construction of the last few years open ceilings are now being enforced as plenum spaces. If you don't understand why: take the first image with drop ceiling, remove the drop ceiling and the ducting, leaving just the supply and return vents. Any living space or office space is a plenum, air is being moved there. If you want to make a building a non plenum space, remove the roof.
dude you are awesome i wish i worked for you instead of the company i am at, i learn nothing here and i feel like if i worked for you I could grow and be a much more capable person, ill do my best anyways, thanks again
First time on the channel. Nice explanations but, the professionals already know this stuff. I assume this video is for regular people, in which case, the illustrations using office buildings are not applicable. What cable type should one run in a US home's attic space and in a home's walls behind drywall sheet rock, with or without insulation? Thank you.
I installed plain cheap cat5 non e cable throughout the house in 1998. All of my wired devices will do long sustained 1gbit transfers no problem. I haven't tried to take it any higher than that though.
