Just ordered 2 of each of both the v3 1550 & 1800's.... Great video, excellent comparison and actually it was really informative. Thank you!
Thanks - great lipos - mine are still going strong
Massive thank you. Finally got a feeling for how well the batteries are!
I like the look of those 1800's!!!
R-Line 1800mAh is a beast. My favorite battery.
It's a cracking lipo for sure. I'm a convert, but I've also got about 14 1300mAh 4S's that are still ok, so the 1800 will be me giving myself a treat to fly :D
I agree, but I sometimes use it on a 5" inav quad. it weighs just under 700g with gopro. They're petty expensive (£37 each) in the uk.
Less sag than anything else on my bus.
Great flying and review, Wayne! 😊
I really liked the 1800mAh!
I liked it too MC - I'd like to fill my bag with a good 10 or 20 of them for a great days flying
For single battery uses, the same form factor is indeed nice, but i do like the more longer and thinner batteries for when more than one is in use at the same time. They are just more easy to connect that way :)
great video, can i use this one with a dji air unit that supports up to 17.6V
Hope you went through the trouble of charging/discharging them for 3-4 cycles on the charger before flying them! From the factory they come with barely 1 cycle (because of cost) and that's not enough to build up the SEI (solid electrolyte interphase) layer that will protect the negative electrode. It also brings down the internal resistance when done properly at low current (1C charge, up to 3C discharge)
I don't - mostly because I've never experienced any noticeable benefit in doing so. I've had the conversation with many friends, but I've yet to find anyone that does this so far.
@@CurryKitten In this particular case, you would get better performance out of the batteries if you did so. Do some testing once! Break in one or two of the lipos when they are new and never flown, then compare the internal resistance with one that you flew immediately. Most chargers nowadays give you the option to test internal resistance. My source on this matter is the ceo and head of development of a reputable Swiss lipos brand.
I flew the normal tattu 4s 1550mah and when i landed at 14V it always used +-1100mah but when i land at 14V with the rline 4s 3.0 2000mah it only used 900mah. Only when i fly really slow i can get over 1000mah.
Ive been flying the Tattu 1550 Fun Fly batteries and really like them, Ill have to pick up one of the 1800 R-lines for a try.
Give them a try and see. I could certainly notice the difference between the R-Lines and the "regular" Tattus
How's the size of the 1800 compare to like a 1500 from raceday quads?
Great review Curry!
Cool bass-guitar & amps!
Thanks - my playing is awful though :)
Ovonic lipos from amazon aren't to bad for a reasonable price. The 100c 1550mah are good and very similar to tattu's funfly range, i think they're the same only re-branded. Nice review Wayne 👍👍👍
Nice tip - thanks Richard. I never think of looking at Amazon when thinking about buying stuff
@@CurryKitten it's surprising what quad related stuff you can get on amazon. I've recently bought 0803 motors and 1s hv lipos for about the same amount as banggood on prime with quick delivery. Definitely worth a look if your after something quickly 😁
good review, have you tried infinity batteries they seem to have a good reputation. I have been blocked in the past from buying batteries from bang good. I think Boeing get nervous when they transport lipo's because they loose enough planes as it is, but i will follow the link and see if i can buy one.
I haven't. I was trying to order some the last time they shut down lipo shipping. I've got some URUAV Graphene's coming in soon I think though. Shipping seems available for the moment at least
@@CurryKitten URUAV is a name i'me hearing more and more of lately. seem to be attaching itself to everything.
Did you break the bats in.. Bran new batts are never great till you put them threw a few cycles
I don't tend to, as I really don't see much of a difference between 1st charge and 10th
Cool man . I've been using an 1800 graphine 4s 90c on a kopis2 recently getting about 5minutes for me vs my 1300 3 minutes . 👍👍
Those the Turnigy Graphenes? I had a few of the 1300's which have seemed to gone a bit dodgy of late. A few years old, but not holding up as well as the other stuff - are yours good?
@@CurryKitten mine are the Hyperion graphine . one bad out of four about 3months old . so 75 % not great . but the size is way better thinking about strapping a 3000mah on it to see what happens without gopro.
Do they have plates protecting the cells?
You mean inbetween them, or on the outsides ? The answer is no to both as far as I'm aware
Thanks for the comparison. I see they make a 1550 size in version 3 too, that's the one I'd be eyeing for freestyle. 1300, too much sag.
The 1550 look like it will have the nice balance of weight and power - I'm sad I didn't get that one as well, but I am liking the increased flight time of the 1800
Banggood sending lipo to the UK again ?
Yep - works at the moment... may be subject to change though :D
Hey Curry, You might put the mah's on the OSD. It helps me to see in what rate my batteries will die on me :) Good Vid
The reason I don't use the mAh used on the OSD is that I;ve never been able to get a current sensor to be entirely accurate. I've gone through and see what it thinks I've used vs what I put back in in a charge, but I tend to find unless I fly it exactly the same battery after battery that it's not that accurate. So I tend to just use the voltage and if it's getting low quickly, I might check the sort of internal resistance it's showing compared with a good one
@@CurryKitten Try ESC telemetry to get current data. Mine are fairly accurate, I fly my 1800mAh R-Line down 1450mAh according to my OSD and recharge 1.44 to 1.46Ah on my ISDT Q6 Pro. Those ESC seem to have decent current sensors.
Banggood have an interesting philosophy re Lipos. I have no problem getting batteries from them but others tell me that they won't supply to the UK. Maybe you have to be an established customer.
I think it's down to getting the right legal stuff in place and finding a carrier to ship them. They were no shipping ot the UK, then they were and it's gone back and forth a few times. Currently you can get them.... it might be a case of get them while you can
They still sag a hell of a lot more comparing to a decent 6S setup. But I have to agree with you the V3 1800mah 4S are impressive.
The lack of the sag seems to be the key advantage of 6S. I still haven't flown a proper 6S setup (not counting my ghetto 6S from 2 3S in series where the quad freaked out and dessync'd) I'm sure I'll get there in the end
@@CurryKitten The key to a good 6S setup is: 1. a decent stiff frame. 2. a good set of esc's or just a good 4 in 1. I run an aikon 4 in 1 with 1000uf low esr cap and the matek f722 std paired with the emax eco 2306 1750KV. You can check my latest video on my channel if you like and judge :-)
Balance stick brake early.
Huh ?
Nice :)
