I think that's what he meant though. Before with the jet engine it was a huge project and when they decided to get rid of the jet engine it was "just another drag car" and was a "small project" but Kevin turned it into a serious build.
Cleetus and Kevin are a great combination in videos: Kevin with his attention to detail and creativity, and cleetus keeping it fun, light, and always moving on. What a great balance.
Kevin has to be similar to a tortured artist. His standard of perfection must drive himself nuts. Like he can never stop his brain from improving what already works amazing.

@@jibbsey yeah hopefully they run some of that coloring additive the faster you know visually the better even with an automated system it's best to know so you can kill power/let out to prevent it from spreading/going boom. With all the recent fires so close to home it got me thinking about maybe some way of adding a pouch to the shoulder, thigh, or arm of the suit for a small 10 min refillable compressed air suppply (normal air opposed to pure oxy so it wouldn't draw or enhance the fire in any situation). Then fitting a mouthpiece into the helmet design and run a hose though then just use that as your air suppply for the duration of the race so if anything happens you have no risk of smoke/fire inhalation and can remain calmer which is always beneficial.
Kevin is a rare individual. Performance shops have just really gone down hill and he shows there are people out there who really care about their level of work and service to their customers. Be like Kevin.

I'm like he is with circle track stuff. I look at some of the cars and I cringe. I wouldn't drive those SOB's 45mph let alone 110mph next too another car on a race track. Common sense isn't so common :-/
When I see this I see a perfectionist with o.c.d. absolutely beautiful. Every wire same length, and bent the same. Even the welds look awesome. Gonna be one sweet build when it's finished. Can't wait

Car was a total loss.... pushed the frame over 20 inches to the right. He walked away with a sprained wrist, sore neck, and 2 broken ribs. Any other type of vehicle and he'd have been toast. I don't work on a race car unless we add an extra door tube and double skin the cockpit.
Man, Kevin has been at it hard! So much attention to detail and foresight to eliminate future problems or the need for McFarland fab additions, not to mention how neat and tidy everything fits together, but is easily serviceable. That is really impressive work. Amazing work Kevin.
This has to be one of my favorite builds of all time. The level of detail is astonishing. Thanks to Cleetus and Kevin for sharing it with us! In a previous career, I was a nuclear machinist and toolmaker. It's not difficult to spot a true craftsman and I put Kevin in a very small group with Chip Foose.

It is crazy to realize how much more serious mullet is in comparison. I also hate how cleeter tries to poke fun at the extra stuff Kevin does involving data. Like he has to realize how important it all is. This car will be leaps and bounds way better than anything in the fleet.
This is full on purpose built, nothing grew because it had to be on there somehow, nothing is left unanswered. Kevin thought this through right down to the smallest details! And it's done so beautiful it's a piece of art!

Kevin I've been loosely keeping up with this build THEN watched this video. WOW !!!!!!! I've seen and worked with people building race cars BUT this build your doing is off the charts. I'm a nobody but its my opinion you could have your own TV show and the viewership would set records. Any young people living around Kevin's shop should begging for an apprenticeship. Thank You for taking the time to share this build. I know filming can be a pain just know there is some old timers along with the young ones that love your video's.
I wish everybody was tuned in but he's about 600,000 to 700,000 views short of everybody following still doing very well for how young his channel is as far as consistent content goes

Kevin has one thing that I have never seen in the engineers I have worked with, common sense. It amazes me to see him meticulously building everything with a purpose.
Engineers need to spend a few years servicing systems before they should be allowed to design them. They would notice design flaws and learn. Instead, we have dumb kids straight out of college designing systems on cad that a seasoned mechanic could pull off the top of their heads.

Kevin is the "God-Tier in Customer Satisfaction" mechanic, that dude went nuts on the entire car with all of the crazy efficiency improvements through both innovative design, awesome metalworking skills and badass coding. I WANT TO LEARN FROM THIS MAN.
On Kevin his channel you see him regularly turn back on his steps and improve for an even better setup , like dropping the engine a little down and back to improve weight distribution and clearance under the hood. Also the details of running the same pumps on the intercooler system and cooling system are incredible, I doubt many other fabricators would have thought about that lol..
Kevin and his team are absolute perfectionist, you already know he wishes he could he can spend at least another 2 or 3 months making sure this beast meets all of his high standards

I do. But he doesn't put every second of the build on his videos. There's a lot that goes on off camera.
On Kevin his channel you see him regularly turn back on his steps and improve for an even better setup , like dropping the engine a little down and back to improve weight distribution and clearance under the hood.
Also the details of running the same pumps on the intercooler system and cooling system are incredible, I doubt many other fabricators would have thought about that lol..

Oh smack. Cleetus found out that he can run the elco without the front clip. Cleetus: can I put quick clips on it? You know he's going to run it without.
He will find out soon that the aero will help getting low times on the dragstrip. Just look at Leroy and ruby, the aero on ruby gets her close to Leroy . I guess Leroy has more power in the open as ruby has between her fenders ..

Literally just mentioned on the latest KSR update on how excited I am to see this thing up on the two step! This build has been incredibly entertaining to follow. I love how Kevin has seemingly thought of everything. Sensors on sensors on sensors giving all sorts of data!
