Ya, this is the one car in the fleet that looks significantly better with the hood. My favorite part about this car is how clean it looks... removing the hood removes all of that.

I was in awe of everyone's patience while being almost constantly surrounded by fans. You guys are the best......also I know you couldn't hear, but the crowd went nuts when you hit a 7.
They haven’t let the fame go there head and realize those fans is why they get to live the life they do
I don't think it's the fame thing but anyone being surrounded constantly just being stared at it must feel weird
I was there watching when they first got the cars out and you can tell they are just use to it. They just get right to work and don't really spend time paying much attention to the crowd, just doing what they got to get done. With that said once the cars were ready, everyone in the crew is so nice and has such a good time talking and taking pictures with everyone. They are super cool people.

Mullet needs the hood. Why? Because that’s what makes Leroy and Ruby unique. That’s their thing. They’re raw power and showing everything. Their thing is no aerodynamics and just bald eagles. Mullet is just 7 second pure slicked back speed and meant to kick the crap out of anyone who dares get in the lane next door. IMHO of course, do what makes you happy.... and I’m pretty sure going fast and winning makes you happy.
On the flip side? It does slow the car down and turns the bald eagles down for those tracks that simply can’t handle him.
Edit: I kinda wanna see James do the entire 1/8th mile as a wheelie.....
Looking at the wind tunnel video the air to the turbos is only effected at high speed, as it deep into the quarter. There's no effect early in the run, and obviously there's more power than the chassis and tires can handle.

Kind of rubs me the wrong way that Cleetus constantly gives Kevin a hard time about a brand new build, not just the hood. A lot of stuff to work out on a new chassis. Cleetus and his crew are top notch people. Got to see them live action and it was amazing for my first time at an event like this. Waited around after they got done packing up and got a picture with Cleetus himself. Even after being out there for 12 plus hours he still stuck around and talked and took pictures with every single person waiting. Amazing guy and amazing time.

Hood on with winglets to direct flow into Turbos. WIN, Win right there. Also deflector over back window to eliminate the turbulence there. Same for tailgate area and side winglets to streamline rear turbulence. Turbulence = huge drag. No turbulence = Slipstreamed car.
Do this and the car will be a KILLER! Or not, your loss....

Hey Cleet - a long time ago in a galaxy far far away I used to work as a fabricator in a reputable chassis shop. Our shop car was a 2002 firebird outlaw 10.5 car. The car was in a solid accident because our "cool" parachute anchor wrapped around the wheelie bars causing the car to cross the track in front of another car. As it happened the parachutes caught the roof tow hook of the other car and flipped the car.
Cleverer should set up a poll, hood or no hood. I’m for hood. Looks cleaner.

Why doesn't James just run 16 Injectors instead of dealing with monster injectors that constantly get stuck?
I’d imagine there are several reasons. It’s expensive to change to a dual injector setup, depending on what you’re changing from. It could also be some sort of class restriction (I haven’t heard of anything like this, but I don’t do drag racing on any kind of competitive level.)
But, generally it’s cost prohibitive to do a multi-injector setup if you haven’t already got your car setup for it. Gotta buy a new intake manifold, whole extra set of injectors, fuel rails, plumbing to the rails, etc. and that’s assuming the ECM is capable of supporting 16 sequential injector outputs. If not, there’s extra electronics involved, plus wiring. It gets really expensive really fast.
Methanol folks. Billet atomizer is the best. Thats what he has. They are expensive.

probably because expence and fuelflow, as a 2e row would have the fuel atomise in the manifold, wouldn't deliver the same hit due to the larger distance
