First video on the channel! Really excited to start this conversation about the real relationship between followers and creative careers. Let me know your thoughts below - especially interested in hearing from other creators who've felt the pressure to ignore building a following and just go for reach lately
00:40 The cinic in me: because is what people like to hear (meaning it gets click), and helps competition removing themselves from the ring with a smile on their faces (because they fell for the ruse of those videos)
What they are just saying is that the algorithm is complex enough to search for the right audience if your video has value... In the past, they would test the content with your subscribers first (so today a small channel is more likely to go viral if their content is a 'smash-hit').
Nice video. Click bait and confirmation bias is massive on the internet these days. Unfortunately they are both strong drivers when we are looking for content. I have watched both videos saying the following doesnt matter anymore and then because I didnt really agree with it. I am looking for videos to disagree also. Where does that leave us? We are probably best off not watching either and just get on with creating content! It's always nice to see videos like yours calling out the clickbait though, much appreciated.
haha good catch, we're a household of 3D artists, my wife a character artist whose setup you can see behind me and myself focusing on environment and lighting ☺
This is actually a really interesting topic, I'm not quite sure I 100% understand the question but here are some of my thoughts on authenticity which I think has has become one of those buzzwords that means different things to different people. In my experience, it's less about sharing every aspect of yourself and more about being consistent with what feels true to you If we look at some of the biggest creators, influencers, streamers out there - many of them aren't showing their whole selves but rather a specific side or persona that they can maintain consistently. The key isn't being 100% 'authentic' in the way people often preach about it, but finding an approach you can genuinely sustain long-term For me sharing content that aligns with my actual interests and perspective just makes the whole process more sustainable. When you're putting on a complete act it's exhausting and usually shows through eventually. But this doesn't mean you need to bare your soul in every post, it's more about building from a foundation that feels genuine to you What I'd suggest is focusing less on being 'authentic' in some abstract way and more on finding your sustainable angle. What parts of your personality or interests can you consistently bring to your content without burning out? That's what I've historically found to be the strongest indicator of the success of a creative project
There are a number of ways, depends on your business and ideal clients. I have some videos coming up that I plan to cover different strategies there but for now if you'd like more info on it from my perspective you could check out my free guide (The 80K Artist) which covers how I built my first audience and the way I approached monetization while I was doing it: www.futurefamiliar.com/the-80k-artist/

Damn you're one of my fav IG creators if not my fav.
Dude this was so good, I’ve found that the more my audience grows the easier it is to get a response from brands that I actually want to work with.
Appreciate it Jon!

This is AI.
Where and how do one get that true fanbase except being authentic?

How to build client or contact as a freelancer?

G'day from Australia 🇦🇺. I'm a small youtube channel. I'm struggling on UA-cam.
