What a testament (stock bottom-end and pistons) to what Kawi has done for so many years. FWIW, I built a frame-up custom softail that had very few Harley parts, which I never entered in a bike show, yet won so many. It was fast (S&S stoker) and bullet proof. In over 20 years, the only thing I did to that engine was to replace the cork valve cover gaskets, with modern ones. Entire engine was powder coated (and fins polished) to match the frame and the blue accents in the tins. Despite the 100% custom nature of that award winning bike, I have never had more random compliments than I get on my '23 z900rs café. People are fascinated by it in a way I never expected. And oh boy, do I love this bike!
Hello from California, Mad Max is still one of my all time favorite movies, along with Road Warrior, so this is very pleasing to see where the classic scenes were filmed on these gorgeous bikes that changed the world and motorcycling forever.
I thought, most if not all of the Kawasaki machines, were all new Z/KZ 1000's supplied and loaned by Kawasaki, unless as claimed, this was an extra machine used, by the Stunt producers/gang? Glad to see it resurrected.
When the movie came out, I was riding a KZ650, and one of my friends had a 2 stroke triple. We spent days trying to do the same 360 burnout. It wasn't until I got hold of a Z1000 that I was able to do it. Very scary the first time you do it.
I dont think kawasaki ever thought how Iconic there bikes would become out of the MadMax movie there is a interview on the builders that supposedly borrowed 10 bikes from kawasaki factory thought they were gonna get them back stock the MPF my fave of the movie.
Nah, I think you will find that is Stone, made in 1974 with brand new Z1 Jaffas. Were Borrowed from Kwakasaki. The Maxi bikes were this owned Z900 + a whole heap of Z1000s. I dont think Kawasaki would lend more bikes to a film company, do you? Still memories fade over the years...and yes, I had a 1976 Z1000a in Mint condition when this movie came out...by coincidence.😁

Those Carburetors were set up to run a Air box as well.With foam filters only the jetting was Kayoss & you could not fix it.The new Harley,s would eat these old Models.

Those were the production bikes with custom fairings as I understand it. This particular bike was a one-off used for just that one scene.
Cant wait to to catch up with Dale at the Mad Max 45th Anniversary in September at Maryborough Racecource in Vic. It's gonna be the Ducks Guts.
